Monday's Horse Racing Tips: Plumpton, March 11th
Today’s Horse Racing Tips – March 11th
There are four scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Monday on “Cheltenham eve”, with NH fans in for a busy afternoon. They have Plumpton, Stratford and Taunton to analyse on drying ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Somerset venue (and Paul Nicholls sure to be well represented). AW fans have decent grade action to study at Wolverhampton, with the lights coming on at 5.30pm at the Midlands track and the handicaps looking extremely trappy for the time of year.

Hard Frost
Plumpton 4.00 (UK time)
Harry Derham maintains a terrific strike rate by placing his horses carefully, and this looks a perfect opening for his quirky chaser. He looked capable of rattling up a sequence when winning gamely at Taunton in December, and had excuses for a lesser effort when well backed at Hereford last time out (soon dropped out and probably found the ground too quick). This 3m1f trip should be ideal under a patient ride, and he can swoop late against some opposable rivals.

Salvatore
Plumpton 3.00 (UK time)
Harry Derham’s novice has very much been brought along with handicaps in mind, catching the eye one start back at Wincanton behind the very smart Steel Ally (strong run race and form to follow). He remains open to plenty more improvement than these rivals after just three career starts over timber, and much more positive tactics are likely now from Paul O’Brien (with his opening mark potentially lenient for his debut in this sphere).
Odds: 5.0
