Torino vs Lazio Prediction: Granata have hit form at home
Italy, Serie A, Thursday, February 22nd, 19:45 (UK)
Thanks to a six-match unbeaten run, Torino have closed the gap on the teams occupying the European spots and are now only one point behind Lazio.
The Granata had to be patient against Lecce last Friday but found the opening goal after the break with Raoul Bellanova.
The former Cagliari and Inter wingback has been one of the best young players in Serie A this season and has already contributed to five goals.
Ivan Juric celebrated his 100th game in charge of the Granata with a 2-0 win, which extended the team’s unbeaten run at home to seven games.
In fact, il Toro has only lost once at the Stadio Olimpico (3-0 vs Inter, but the scoreline in the end flattened the Neroazzurri) and kept eight clean sheets in front of their home crowd.
Challenging to unlock
The Granata are tough to unlock. They’ve got Italy’s third-best defence (also according to the xG) as their games have produced the lowest number of Over 2.5 goals, only seven in this campaign.
Only 20 goals have been scored during Torino’s 12 home games this season, the lowest tally in the league (Lazio is second with 21).
The hosts should probably score more goals, given the talent they’ve got up front, but it will be very hard to beat Lazio, who have only gained four points in the last four matches.
At the weekend, the Biancocelesti looked still tired after their great Champions League night against Bayern Munich, and manager Maurizio Sarri complained because the game against Bologna was scheduled for Sunday lunchtime.
But Lazio, after taking the lead, fell flat and were rightly beaten 2-1.
Both Torino and Lazio are amongst the Serie A teams that have gained fewer points from a losing position (both just three), so whoever scores first might win it or will at least take a point.

Torino vs Lazio Team News and Possible Lineups: Immobile or not to Immobile?
Mattia Zacagni didn’t feature in Lazio’s loss at the weekend due to an injury to his foot, and will be touch and go for this match on Thursday evening. It’s going to be a straight shootout between Immobile and Castellanos for who gets the nod up top, but with the former starting on the weekend, perhaps the latter edges in front in Sarri’s thinking.
Alessandro Buongiorno, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Per Schuurs all miss out here for the hosts, with no movement on Schuurs’ season-long injury.
Torino possible starting lineup:
Milinkovic-Savic; Djidji, Lovato, Masina; Bellanova, Ricci, Linetty, Lazaro; Vlasic; Zapata, Sanabria
Lazio possible starting lineup:
Provedel; Lazzari, Gila, Romagnoli, Marusic; Guendouzi, Cataldi, Luis Alberto; Isaksen, Castellanos, Felipe Anderson
