The Longshot: High Odds Acca Tips and Predictions on Jimmy’s Dark Arts
The final round of Champions League group stage games provides Jimmy The Punt with a welcome opportunity to provide a midweek The Longshot: High Odds Acca Tips and Predictions article.
There are four games across Tuesdays and Wednesdays action where the winner takes it all, so we’ve combined a result with keeper cards, what could possibly go wrong?
In terms of stakes, I would recommend 0.5pts on each single and 0.5pts on a yankee.
The Longshot: High Odds Acca Tips and Predictions

- Napoli vs Braga: Braga Handicap (-1) and Matheus Card

Copenhagen vs Galatasaray: Go Gala
Denmark, Champions League, Tuesday December 12th, 20:00 (UK)
Manchester United let two goals slip twice against Galatasaray, eventually sharing the honours in a six-goal thriller with the Turkish side. It means that the winner of this game books their place in the knockout stages.
So, if the visitors can get their noses in front here, you would imagine they will be doing everything in their power to preserve the three points, not least wasting time – for those unaware, this is the premise of the entire article.
The visitor’s stopper is a bit of a master when it comes to the dark arts.
Fernando Muslera has already notched up four cards this season, the majority of which have just been slightly unhinged.
The Uruguayan veteran could rub referee Daniele Orsato the wrong way. The Italian whistleblower has already dished out 18 cards in the UCL this season.
- Selection: Galatasaray to win and Fernando Muslera card
- Best Odds: 13.00
- Bookmaker: Sky Bet
- Stake: 5/10
Napoli vs Braga: Braga Bragging Rights
Italy, Champions League, Tuesday December 12th, 20:00 (UK)
Braga needs to win by a two-goal margin to usurp Napoli and qualify.
To make it to the knock-out stages, all Napoli needs to do is avoid defeat by more than a one-goal margin, surely a feat the Scudetto winners can manage, right?
Well, as expected since Luciano Spalletti’s departure, their title defence is going pretty terribly. The Little Donkeys are currently 14 points off the pace in Serie A and have lost their last two games in the competition, shipping four goals without finding the net.
In all competitions, they have only won one of their last six and have failed to convince in this competition. It took a late own goal in the reverse of this fixture. Napoli laboured past Union Berlin in Germany, shared the points with them in Naples, and conceded seven points in their games with Real Madrid, winning zero points.
Braga needs to win by a two-goal margin, so combining this with their keeper Matheus to be carded is the bet at a cool 101.00 with Sky Bet.
It is worth noting that their Brazilian number one has two cards in 13 appearances domestically, taking his career tally to 26 cards.
- Selection: Braga Handicap (-1) and Matheus Card
- Best Odds: 101.00
- Bookmaker: Sky Bet
- Stake: 5/10
Dortmund vs PSG: Dortmund Diddled on Backyard
Germany, Champions League, Wednesday December 13th, 20:00 (UK)
I do not trust either of these teams, but on paper, Paris Saint-Germain are better.
It is the French side that needs to win this game more as well; qualification is still in their hands, and victory confirms it. So, whilst Borussia Dortmund have not guaranteed top spot, with qualification already secured, I do not think they are worth getting onside.
Also, in my experience, siding with the away side’s stopper to be carded feels more likely as if there is any whiff of time-wasting antics; the home faithful are quick to bring it to the attention of the referee. In all honesty, though, I do not actually know if the keepers of away sides get booked more than home keepers.
Nevertheless, Gianluigi Donnarumma has picked up a few cards this campaign. He was sent off against Le Havre in his last appearance, his third of the season, having already picked up yellows against Newcastle and Toulouse.
- Selection: PSG win and Gianluigi Donnarumma Card
- Best Odds: 14.00
- Bookmaker: Sky Bet
- Stake: 5/10
Porto vs Shakhtar Donetsk: Time to go Porto
Portugal, Champions League, Wednesday December 13th, 20:00 (UK)
It is another winner-takes-all clash in Group H as second-placed Porto take on third-placed Shakhtar Donetsk. Given their superior head-to-head record, the hosts have the edge here, so if it ends all square, the Dragons make it to the last 16.
At odds on, I don’t want to be getting the Portuguese team onside. It is much more fun combining the Russian side and their keeper, Dmytro Riznyk to be carded.
The goalkeeper was booked in his side’s last Champions League game, doubling his cards tally for the campaign.
- Selection: Shakhtar Donetsk win and Dmytro Riznyk Card
- Best Odds: 36.00
- Bookmaker: William Hill
- Stake: 5/10
