A reduced domestic slate and an international schedule littered with pointless clashes makes this weekend’s The Longshot: High Odds Acca Tips a treacherous proposition. Navigate the rotation though, and our expert Jimmy The Punt believes we can get some value onside.

Cyprus vs Spain: No Time like the Present
Cyprus, Euro 24 Qualifiers, Thursday November 16th, 17:00 (UK)
It took a while for Mikel Oyarzabal to come to the boil this season, but he is well and truly bubbling now. The Spanish frontman failed to score in any of his first six appearances of the campaign but has hit nine in his last 13, which includes four in his most recent four appearances.
It will mean Oyarzabal reports to international duty on cloud nine, and though he is very much on the periphery when it comes to his national side, he has proved to be a reliable source of goals from the bench.
Oyarzabal has bagged six times for Spain despite only starting 10 games and featuring for a little over 1,000 minutes in total. That gives him a goals-per-90 average of 0.50, and with such a healthy return, backing him to score a hattrick is the bet here.
He has hit the double twice this season, taking his career tally of braces to 13, but has never taken home the match ball for club or country.
The trip to Cyprus looks like a prime opportunity to break that duck, though. Los Roja hit the Cypriots for six in the reverse and with qualification all wrapped up, Oyarzabal should be handed a rare start by Luis de la Fuente. There’s no time like the present Mikel…
- Selection: Mikel Oyarzabal Hattrick
- Best Odds: 23.00
- Bookmaker: SkyBet
- Stake: 5/10
Estonia vs Austria: More Goals Marcel
Estonia, Euro 24 Qualifiers, Thursday November 16th, 17:00 (UK)
Marcel Sabitzer is another player who has had a spluttering start to the campaign, in fact, he has not looked the same since leaving RB Leipzig in 2021.
In hindsight, the switch to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich did not work out for either party. After scoring two league goals across as many seasons, he was loaned out to Manchester United before getting offloaded to Borussia Dortmund, where he arrived injured and out of favour.
This campaign, he scored on his debut but has only started seven league games after being blighted with injuries.
The midfielder seems to be gathering a bit of momentum now, though. He has played every minute of BVB’s last three games and scored against Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of October.
For Austria, no player has scored more goals (4), an impressive haul for a midfielder made even more resounding as he has only featured for 282 minutes in total.
Sabitzer netted a goal in each of his side’s games last break, both of which coming from the spot. Backing a player on penalty duty in the goalscorer market can only be a bonus.
Austria already has qualification wrapped up, which begs the question, will Sabitzer play? Well, that is the gamble, but if he does, backing him to score a brace certainly appeals, given the difference in opinion across the firms. He is 19.00 with Betfair and Paddy Power and only 7.00 elsewhere.
- Selection: Marcel Sabitzer Brace
- Best Odds: 21.00
- Bookmaker: Betfair and Paddy Power
- Stake: 10/10
Liechtenstein and Portugal: Goals Galore
Liechtenstein, Euro 24 Qualifiers, Thursday November 16th, 19:45 (UK)
Last but not least, it is the anytime goalscorer pick deriving from the deadest of rubbers between Liechtenstein and Portugal.
Portugal, unbeaten, can only finish top of Group J and head to Liechtenstein without a point, unable to finish anywhere but bottom.
Once again, there are worries over Roberto Martínez’s team selection, but I guess that is the gamble given the start of play in this round of Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The value of the pick cannot be questioned.
Joao Cancelo is as long as 5.5 to score anytime, an eye-watering price considering he is 2.20 with some firms. In terms of implied probability, the former suggests there is an 18.2% chance he scores on Thursday, and the latter implies a 45.5% chance!
It is not like he does not have pedigree for his country. He found the net in Portugal’s most recent game against Bosnia and also bagged in the reverse of this fixture.
For those unaware, this is also a fixture a Seleção are expected to win. The visitors are as short as 1.01 in some places (implied probability of 99%). They are also available at 1.67 to score five goals (60%).
- Selection: Joao Cancelo Anytime
- Best Odds: 5.50
- Bookmaker: Sky Bet
- Stake: 10/10
