“The Hot Seat At Manchester United Is A Constant,” says Mikael Silvestre
It’s no secret that Erik ten Hag is facing the pressure at Manchester United. Results have not gone the Red Devils’ way, the Jadon Sancho situation is drawing unnecessary attention and star man Marcus Rashford is misfiring.
While the Dutch manager has received the board’s backing, speculation that he could be axed from the job still persists.
We got in touch with former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre who spoke about the uphill task for ten Hag, the pressure at Manchester United and also the upcoming matchup against Luton Town in the Premier League.

Too Early To Make A Judgement On Ten Hag
The former French international believes it’s too early to make a judgement on Erik ten Hag’s reign at Manchester United.
Silvestre asserts that the Dutchman needs to be given time and adds that the recruitment at the club needs to improve.
“I think he’s got a responsibility to do well but he needs to be given time to achieve what he wants for the club.”
“It will take time for him to build what he wants and it’s only his second year so it’s too early to make a judgement.”
“I think there could be an improvement in recruitment.”
The Hot Seat At Man Utd Is A Constant
Silvestre continues that the Manchester United job is always going to be a hot seat. He adds that the Red Devils need to get results and qualify for the Champions League knockout stage as failing to do so will increase the noise around the club.
“The pressure will grow if United don’t make it out of the group. You have to reach your objectives.”
“The hot seat is a constant. The noise around the club and the manager will get worse.”
“United need to get a result.”
Manchester United Need To Stick Together – Luke Shaw Has Been A Major Miss
The four-time Premier League winner commented that ten Hag has had to deal with an unfortunate situation this season, as his first-team has been injured.
An unsettled squad has led to a drop in performance and the Frenchman has urged the team to stick together through this rough patch.
“It can’t get any worse and I think there are players in situations that aren’t ideal.”
“There are injuries and the team is unsettled. The first team players are unavailable which makes trying to play football difficult. Things will get better when the squad is back to normal.”
“It’s a rough patch but they need to stick together.”
On the injuries front, Silvestre emphasises on how much the Red Devils have missed Luke Shaw who suffered a muscular injury early on in the season.
“Luke Shaw has been one of the better players for Erik since he joined the club and he’s reaching his peak so Luke is a big loss.”
“They’ve had Lindelof, Dalot, Amrabat and Reguilon playing there so Shaw is an important part of the puzzle.”
Normally I Would Say Luton Has No Chance
For the upcoming Premier League game against Luton Town, Silvestre isn’t very confident because of the form Manchester United are in.
He confesses that he would have said that Luton has no chance but the fragile state of Manchester United prevents him from saying that.
“Normally I would say Luton has no chance but I don’t know right now because the team is fragile.”
“They’ve shown fight recently and with United at home it’s safe to say United should win.”
“Luton aren’t parking the bus so there will be opportunities for United to create chances.”
