Rangers missed the chance to narrow the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership on Sunday. On loan Celtic defender Liam Scales opened the scoring for Aberdeen just after the break before Barry Robson watched his side double their lead and secure a seventh straight win. After the final whistle, Mick Beale admitted his frustrations at the result and performance. Knowing he will need to get a much better showing from his players to compete against their treble-chasing bitter rivals.
Celtic had dropped their first home points of the season the previous day. A 1-1 draw with Motherwell ended a run of 18 successive league wins on home soil stretching back to last season. The Hoops need one more win to retain their title, with a pair of Kyogo Furuhashi goals sealing a League Cup triumph at the expense of the Gers in February. Ange Postecoglou knows a win here will tick off a domestic treble and also hand a trophyless season to their Glasgow neighbours.
Rangers vs Celtic Best Bet
This is the fifth Old Firm derby of the season, with Celtic victorious in three and the points shared at Ibrox in January. A pulsating 3-2 win earlier this month means the Hoops are now unbeaten in the last eight meetings between these two sides. The Bhoys have been in scintillating form this term, and I am surprised to see them priced up at odds against. A price that means we can take a small bit of security onside by playing the Asian handicap line of -0.25.

Clermont vs Reims Preview
France, Ligue 1, Sunday, April 30th, 14:00 (UK)
Clermont created a little bit of history last weekend, securing a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 victory for the first time. Goals from Muhammed Cham and substitute Saîf-Eddine Khaoui bagged a 2-1 win at Nice. Now up to 9th in the French top flight, the gap of ten points to the top five may be a stretch too far with only six games remaining. But the Lancers will be keen to continue their winning streak and know a victory over Reims here will see them leapfrog the visitors.
Will Still has suffered his first wobble as manager at Les Rouges et Blancs. After starting his tenure with a 14-game unbeaten run, the 30-year-old has seen his side lose three times in the last five outings, with a 2-0 home defeat to relegation-threatened Strasbourg making it consecutive losses ‘to nil’.
Clermont vs Reims Best Bet
Pascal Gastien will have been delighted with the resilience shown by his side in recording their last two home wins. Both came following falling behind to an early goal. The second of which they saw out with ten men for a whole half against Angers.
Clermont will be confident of completing a double over their faltering visitors, having won the reverse fixture 4-2 courtesy of a sensational second-half comeback after going in at the interval 2-0 down. Reims traditionally don’t enjoy the trip to Gabriel Montpied, winning just one of their last 12 visits. Once again, making the Asian Handicap an attractive play with a draw good enough to provide a half-win.

Cremonese vs Verona Preview
Italy, Serie A, Sunday, April 30th, 14:00 (UK)
Cremonese could not turn around a 2-0 first-leg deficit when they visited Fiorentina on Thursday. Having played out a 0-0 draw, Davide Ballardini’s men exit the Coppa Italia at the semi-final stage. They can now concentrate on attempting a Houdini-like escape from the Serie A relegation zone. Following a 3-0 defeat at Udinese with all the Bianconeri’s goals in the opening period, La Cremo are eight points adrift of 17th-placed Spezia with seven games remaining.
Verona followed up their fantastic point at champions-elect Napoli by ending Bologna’s impressive five-match unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory. A Simone Verdi double earned the Gialloblu a second win in three unbeaten games. Marco Zaffaroni has his side one point from safety but with Spezia and Lecce within their sights directly above them. With both sides playing on Friday, Hellas will know if a win at Stadio Giovanni Zini will be enough to exit them from the bottom three.
Cremonese vs Verona Best Bet
The semi-final 2nd leg was a distraction Davide Ballardini and his players could have done without. However, despite a decent amount of rotation from Cremonese, Verona can take advantage of their extra preparation time. Last season Torino loaned Simone Verdi to Salernitana, and his five goals at the back end of the season were crucial in helping the Granata stay in Serie A.
This season the 30-year-old could be critical in repeating the trick with Verona. That experience and ability to hit the back of the net can make the difference here.
