Strasbourg vs PSG Tip 1: Strasbourg can continue their BTTS yes streak
France, Ligue 1, Friday 2nd February, 20:00 (UK)
Strasbourg manager Patrick Vieira came under a lot of fire towards the back end of the autumn for his negative style and approach. The Arsenal legend has since adapted his system, though, and has clearly taken on board the criticism. Strasbourg are a much more proactive and offensive team and scored in all of their last ten games across the league and cup.
Les Alsatians are averaging 1.8 goals per game in this period and are offering more of an offensive threat. They have had to sacrifice more at the other end, though, and all of their last eight straight Ligue 1 fixtures have been BTTS – Yes.
Vieira would have watched how Brest attacked PSG in the previous round and worked their way back to draw 2-2. The danger is if Vieira goes back into his shell, but this PSG side can be vulnerable if you apply pressure.
The Parisians have only kept two clean sheets in their last seven Ligue 1 games, and even third-tier side Orleans scored against them in the French Cup. At odds of 1.75, then I think BTTS – Yes is very much worth betting. There are defensive doubts surrounding both sides, which makes for great appeal.

- Best Odds: 1.75

Strasbourg vs PSG Tip 2: Reaction expected from PSG who will want to put on a show
PSG and Luis Enrique will be furious after blowing a 2-0 lead against Brest last weekend. They are still comfortably clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table, but the defending champions will now have quite a bit of criticism thrown their way this week.
With the Champions League resuming in mid-February, I think PSG will want to put in a statement win and performance somewhere soon. This might be the type of match in which they stay focused right until the end of the game and rack up the score if needed. They beat Strasbourg 3-0 in the reverse fixture, so they should be confident of netting a few goals vs this defence.
I think taking the Over 3 Asian goal line at an odds-against price offers some value. There is a full push available should exactly three goals be scored, which PSG could cover on their own.
There is a danger that Strasbourg will offer up a completely defensive strategy, but recent evidence suggests they will be bolder and give PSG a tough match. PSG fixtures average 3.30 goals per game this season, and as aforementioned, Strasbourg have been much more confident in front of goal recently. This feels like the sort of match which PSG will probably win 3-1 or even 3-2. It should be an entertaining Friday evening game.
- Strasbourg vs PSG Tip 2: Over 3 Asian Goals (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.06
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 9/10
Strasbourg vs PSG Tip 3: Visitors can come quickly out of the traps
I think PSG will be hungry to show their intent early here and put pressure on Strasbourg. Patrick Vieira is the type of manager who will probably try to keep things tight in the first 20 minutes and hope that his team feels their way into the game.
This could lead to an avalanche of PSG pressure, which is asking for trouble. PSG are priced at 2.0 to be leading at HT, which looks like a good solid bet. They have been ahead at the interval on 13 out of 19 occasions this season and are reliable to get out of the traps quickly. Strasbourg have been losing at half time in nearly 50% of their fixtures and can be known for their slow starts.
For those who are after some extra value, then PSG HT/FT is priced at 2.30. They have gone on to win the match on every occasion after leading at HT, apart from last week’s collapse against Brest.
I do wonder if that match could play on their minds, though, and Strasbourg will probably have to be more offensive in the second half. I prefer to play it safe and just take PSG to be leading at the interval. The stats back it up. PSG should be hungry to react, and they can get their noses in front by HT.
- Strasbourg vs PSG Tip 3: PSG First Half Win (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10

Strasbourg vs PSG Team News Preview: Barcola suspended for PSG after red card last week
PSG will likely still have Achraf Hakimi and Lee Kang-In on international duty. Milan Skriniar is doubtful with an ankle injury, and Bradley Barcola is suspended after getting sent off last week.
Strasbourg attacker Kevin Gameiro is doubtful to face his former club due to injury. Defenders Karol Fila and Ismael Doukoure are also likely to miss out.
