In one of the most anticipated clashes of Euro 2024, the two tournament’s top scoring sides are set to face off in Stuttgart on Friday evening, and our European football expert, Daniele Fisichella, has prepared his Spain vs Germany prediction, team news, lineups and Euro 2024 preview.

Both teams, regarded as top contenders for the title, have displayed formidable form so far as this match is poised to be a highlight of Euro 2024.

Bettingexpert sat down with Mikael Silvestre to discuss the big game, before we get back on track with Daniele’s three bets further down the article.

The Youngsters, Musiala and Yamal, have been the Euro 2024 standouts according to Mikael Silvestre

How impressed have you been with the performances of Jamal Musiala in the tournament so far and how good can he go on to be?

“I’ve been following him at Bayern. He’s just continuing on his path, going up. We talk about Mbappe and other players for the Ballon D’Or but if Musiala continues like this, he won’t be far off from the conversation.”

“He’s bringing so much to Bayern Munich and to Germany in this tournament. They need him to be on top form and he’s been delivering. He’s scored and also created a lot of chances. He’s very direct and excels at playing with others. He’s very impressive for his young age.”

What have you made of Kai Havertz leading the line and can he take this form for Germany into the league next season?

“He had a good season with Arsenal so his form with Germany on the back of it is just continuity. He’s been fit and he’s a different profile when compared to Fullkrug.”

“He’s done well. He can still be more accurate in front of goal because he’s creating chances. But he’s done well, like a lot of German players in the tournament.”

Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal have been among the top stars at the Euros so far..what can Germany do to keep them quiet?

“The 1v1 battles against Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal will be key for sure. The full-backs have to play an excellent game to keep them quiet and they’ll need help from midfielders and the CBs.”

“It can’t be a 1v1 for 90 minutes because the advantage also goes to the wingers. So it will be important for Germany to stop them individually, but also collectively.”

How would you deal with a threat like Jamal Musiala if you were still playing and had to face him?

“You don’t want to give Musiala time on the ball. So you anticipate the passes going to him and his movement into spaces because he’s doing that. Not man marking but whoever is in the zone has to be extremely close to him to stop him from progressing because he’s able to carry the ball forward.”

“Not necessarily win the ball yourself but make him play laterally or backwards. Then your job is done. Not easy to do but it’s very important.”

Who have been the standout players for you so far?

“The youngest players in the tournament have been the standout ones. Musiala, Nico Williams and Yamal.”

Mikael Silvestre’s Spain vs Germany prediction: Spain.

Spain vs Germany Prediction 1: Relentless La Roja can end the hosts’ journey

Euro 2024, Quarter-finals, Friday, July 5th, 17:00 (UK)

Spain has been a revelation at Euro 2024. Despite not being among the pre-tournament favourites, they have emerged as one of the standout teams.

Their journey to the quarter-finals has been marked by an impressive mix of attacking flair and defensive solidity. A prime example of their resilience was their 4-1 victory over Georgia, where they overcame an early setback to secure a comprehensive win.

La Roja’s attacking unit, featuring young talents like Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal and the experienced Álvaro Morata, has been relentless. They have consistently created scoring opportunities, though their finishing has sometimes been profligate, as seen in their 33-shot barrage against Georgia.

However, their ability to break down defences and maintain pressure bodes well against Germany’s occasionally vulnerable backline.

In fact, defensively, Die Manschaft has shown resilience but also some susceptibility to quick counter-attacks and set-pieces. Antonio Rüdiger and the returning Jonathan Tah will need to be at their best to contain Spain’s fury.

Given the offensive capabilities and recent scoring form of both teams, it is highly likely that both will find the back of the net. Spain’s propensity to concede despite dominating possession and Germany’s occasional defensive lapses support this bet.

Spain vs Germany Prediction 2: Youngsters to steal the show

Central to Spain’s success has been the midfield maestro Rodri.

The Manchester City’s player has been the linchpin, dictating the tempo and providing a calming presence. His leadership was particularly evident in the game against Georgia, where he urged his teammates to regain composure after conceding an early goal.

Rodri’s equalizer in the Round of 16 set the stage for Spain’s dominant performance, highlighting his importance to the team’s structure and strategy.

Germany, on the other hand, has navigated a challenging path to the quarter-finals. Their 2-0 win over Denmark, although controversial, showcased their clinical edge and tactical adaptability. Jamal Musiala has been a standout performer, scoring three goals in four matches, and his ability to find space and exploit defensive weaknesses has been crucial.

The German midfield, anchored by Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos, provides a blend of creativity and control. Kroos’ partnership with Musiala allows Germany to transition smoothly from defence to attack, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Kai Havertz, despite initial calls for his exclusion, proved his worth against Denmark with a goal and a solid performance, reaffirming his place in the starting lineup.

The attacking talent on display and the defensive vulnerabilities of both teams suggest a match with multiple goals. Both sides have shown they can score and concede, making this a valuable option.

  • Spain vs Germany Prediction 2: Nico Williams To Score Or Assist (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.75
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 4/10

Spain vs Germany Prediction 3: High press and clever distribution

The match promises to be a tactical battle, with both teams possessing the ability to control possession and launch incisive attacks. Spain’s approach will likely involve high pressing and quick transitions, aiming to exploit any defensive lapses by Germany.

Rodri’s role in maintaining midfield control and launching attacks will be pivotal. His ability to read the game and distribute the ball effectively can disrupt Germany’s rhythm and create openings for Spain’s forwards.

Germany, conversely, will look to leverage their physicality and pace on the wings. Musiala’s movement between the lines and Kroos’ distribution can unsettle the Spanish defence.

The Germans will also aim to capitalize on set-piece situations, an area where Spain has shown occasional vulnerability.

Spain’s impressive form and tactical coherence make them slight favourites, but Germany’s home advantage and individual brilliance, particularly from Musiala and Havertz, cannot be discounted. A high-scoring draw or a narrow win for either side seems plausible.

  • Spain vs Germany Prediction 3: Spain or Draw and Both Teams To Score – Yes  (TRACKED BET)

  • Stake: 6/10

Spain vs Germany Euro 2024 Team News and Possible Lineups: Tah and Wirtz return for the Germans

Both sides are expected to field their strongest lineups. Spain will be unchanged from their 4-1 win against Georgia. Nacho Fernandez and Ayoze Perez’s fitness remains uncertain.

Germany welcomes back Jonathan Tah from suspension to partner Antonio Rüdiger in defense. Kai Havertz, after a solid performance against Denmark, is set to retain his place upfront, supported by the dynamic Jamal Musiala. David Raum is expected to continue at left-back, with Florian Wirtz pushing for a starting spot on the wing.

Spain possible starting lineup:
Simón; Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Cucurella; Fabián Ruiz, Rodri, Pedri: Lamine Yamal, Morata, Williams

Germany possible starting lineup:
Neuer; Kimmich, Rüdiger, Tah, Raum; Andrich, Kroos; Musiala, Gündoğan, Wirtz; Havertz

Euro 2024 Match Stats: Spain’s strong run and Germany’s pedigree
