Silvestre: Garnacho Adding End Product Key Plus Futures of Malacia, Diallo, Elanga
Alejandro Garnacho has been one of Man United´s big revelations this season as the young Argentinian has impressed the whole world with his quality despite only being 18 years old.
We spoke to former Manchester United defender, Mikael Silvestre, who shared his impression of the Red Devils’ starlet as well as the future of other young players like Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellistri.
In this article:
- I’m impressed by Garnacho’s ability to be efficient
- Malacia will continue to improve
- Elanga and Pellistri need a loan deal to get more game time
I’m impressed by Garnacho’s ability to be efficient
Silvestre says that he is impressed by Garnacho´s ability to be efficient, which is a very rare quality for players at that age.
“Alejandro Garnacho loves to take on players and he’s very good at it. But what’s impressive is his ability to get the assists, goals and send in key passes.”
“He’s effective. That’s what sometimes young players are missing. They can take on players but the head is still down and they want to do another trick. But Garnacho is quite direct and is very effective at finding the right pass at the right moment, finding Rashford or Sancho.”
“That’s why he’s had so much game time.”
Malacia will continue to improve
Tyrell Malacia was brought to Man United by Erik ten Hag in the summer of 2022 and the Dutchman has improved Silvestre, who says that the left back will continue to improve.
“I’ve been pleased with Malacia’s performances whenever he started or came on.”
“He just needs to continue. This is his first season. I think he will be there for many years to come. He’s young and has time on his hands.”
“I think it’s a matter of getting more and more experience but he will get better and continue improving.”
Elanga and Pellistri need a loan deal to get more game time
Not all the young players have experienced the same amount of success as Garnacho and Malacia. Because of that, Silvestre advises Elanga and Pellistri to go out on a loan deal and capitalise on those chances.
“Right now yeah, the game time is limited so a loan option is a good one.”
“When you go on loan, you have to make it count. So for Pellistri and Elanga, it’s about making the right choice, the right manager, because I think there will be several options.”
“So it’s important that they make it count when they go on loan and play as much as possible to progress and have a go at starting the following season.”
“They need to have a successful loan like Amad Diallo has been having.”
