Scott Thornton brings you his best bets across Europe’s top leagues as we gear up for a busy weekend of football.

In the Bundesliga, we look ahead to Monchengladbach vs RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt vs Stuttgart on Saturday. Sunday’s game in Germany sees Dortmund host Mainz. Espanyol vs AtlAntonio Conteetico Madrid and Getafe vs Villarreal are our matches in La Liga. In Serie A Napoli are hoping to keep their title hopes alive by beating Milan.

Acca odds:

Monchengladbach vs RB Leipzig: Rose’s Woes on the Road

Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 29th March, 14:30 (UK)

Borussia Monchengladbach have struggled for consistency of late. They have won their last four league matches on the road but have failed to secure three points in any of their last three at home. Nevertheless, they are 7th in the Bundesliga and are in contention for a European place.

RB Leipzig have had struggles of their own. They have managed to win just two of their last 10 league games. The poor run of form means the pressure is building on Marco Rose as the club attempts to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

Monchengladbach are averaging 12.54 shots per home game this season, marginally above the line of 12.5 set by the bookmaker here. However, they can exceed that mark against a team that are affording their opponents plenty of opportunities to shoot. This bet has won in four of their last five head-to-heads with Leipzig.

Marco Rose’s side are conceding an average of 17.15 shots per game in the Bundesliga, only Holstein Kiel, who are bottom, are shipping more. Their opponents have had 13 or more shots in 11 of their 13 Bundesliga away matches.

  • Selection: Over 12.5 Shots For Monchengladbach (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Stuttgart: Dino-Mite Display at Home

Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 29th March, 17:30 (UK)

Eintracht Frankfurt have been one of the best-performing teams in the Bundesliga this season. They are currently 4th in the table but need to rediscover their best form in order to fend off their rivals in the race for a Champions League place. Dino Toppmöller’s side have won just two of their last eight league games.

Stuttgart were excellent last season as they finished 2nd, a place above Bayern Munich. It’s safe to say that this campaign hasn’t gone according to plan. They are 10th in the Bundesliga and have a fight on their hands if they are to qualify for Europe.

Toppmöller’s side are the slight favourites so we are backing them to have at least 14 shots. They have averaged 16.77 shots per home game in the Bundesliga thus far. They have reached the 14-shot mark in eight of their last 10 outings in front of their own fans.

Stuttgart are conceding an average of 13.92 shots per away game. Their last away match was against Holstein Kiel, who managed 17 attempts.

  • Selection: Over 13.5 Shots For Eintracht Frankfurt (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Dortmund vs Mainz: Head-to-Head Trend

Germany, Bundesliga, Sunday, 30th March, 17:30 (UK)

It’s been a turbulent season for Dortmund. Nuri Sahin took over from Edin Terzic in the summer but was unable to get a tune out of his players. Niko Kovac has since taken over but BVB’s domestic problems remain. The team are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League but are unlikely to qualify for next year’s edition of the competition.

Mainz, on the other hand, will be delighted with how their Bundesliga campaign has panned out. They are sitting pretty in 3rd place. However, the congested nature of the table means they cannot afford a dropoff if they are to sneak into the top four.

Dortmund have looked more solid defensively under Kovac, particularly at home. They have conceded six shots or fewer in all three of their league matches at Signal Iduna Park under the new boss. Those matches have seen 23.67 shots on average.

When these teams met earlier in the season, there were just 15 shots in the match. This clash with Dortmund promises to be another closely contested fixture and the shot count could dwindle as a result.

  • Selection: Under 25.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Espanyol vs Atletico Madrid: Defiant Atleti Set to Respond

Spain, La Liga, Saturday, 29th March, 15:15 (UK)

Espanyol are right in the thick of La Liga’s tantalising relegation battle. They are one of five teams separated by just three points. The Catalan side come into the weekend just one point above the drop zone. Their manager will take confidence from the fact his team are unbeaten in their last eight home games but they face a tough test.

Atletico Madrid’s players will have used the international break to recover from a disappointing week that saw them dumped out of the Champions League by Real Madrid before surrendering a two-goal lead against Barcelona. Diego Simeone’s side are still firmly in the title race but need a win here.

Manolo Gonzalez’s side are conceding an average of 13.57 shots per home game this season. Their opponents have had 14 shots or more in five of their last six league matches at the RCDE Stadium.

Los Colchoneros have the attacking talent to trouble their opponents and get those shots away. Atletico Madrid had a whopping 25 shots when the teams met earlier in the season. The last time these teams squared off at this ground, Simeone’s side had 16 attempts.

  • Selection: Over 13.5 Shots For Atletico Madrid (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Getafe vs Villarreal: Yellow Submarine on Top of the Shots

Spain, La Liga, Sunday, 30th March, 13:00 (UK)

Getafe’s fantastic form since the turn of the year has seen them move well clear of the relegation battle. They have lost just two of their 10 league matches in 2025, picking up 20 points in the process. José Bordalás’ side are now just eight points behind Sunday’s opponents.

Villarreal have their sights set on securing European football. They are currently 5th in La Liga but they are six points off the guaranteed Champions League place. The Yellow Submarine will be hoping to finish the season strongly in a bid to qualify for the best club competition in Europe.

Shots are scarce when Getafe take to the field. Their matches have seen an average of 21.04, the fewest in the Spanish top flight. However, this trend doesn’t seem to apply when they square off against Villarreal. There were 31 shots when the teams met earlier in the season and 25 the last time they went toe-to-toe at this ground.

The line is set at 22.5 shots for this one. Villarreal’s league matches have seen 26.81 shots on average, well above what’s required for this bet to land. There have been 23 shots or more in six of their last seven matches in La Liga.

  • Selection: Over 22.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Napoli vs Milan: Conte-Ball in Full Swing

Italy, Serie A, Sunday, 30th March, 19:45 (UK)

Napoli have drawn five of their last seven matches, winning just once. The slump in form has seen them fall three points behind Inter in the title race. There are also rumours that Antonio Conte could leave the club and join Juventus in the summer, which could unsettle them even more.

Milan are enduring a difficult season. They are 9th in the table and it would take a monumental turnaround for them to secure a place in the top four. Paulo Fonseca was sacked midway through the campaign. Sérgio Conceição came in but has struggled to make an impact.

Conte’s defensive style has meant that Napoli matches haven’t been shot-friendly. Their games have seen an average of 23.21, the third-fewest in Serie A. There have been 25 attempts or less in seven of their last 10 matches with 21.9 shots on average. BETSiE predicts that this will be the second-lowest scoring game in the league this weekend. Let’s hope the shot count also wanes.

When the Rossoneri hosted Napoli back in October, there were just 22 shots in the match. Milan’s matches under Conceição have seen an average of 27.25 attempts but they will struggle to create chances against a Napoli team that is excellent at stifling the opposition.

  • Selection:  Under 25.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
