Scott Thornton delves into the action from the Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A to pick out six bets for the next round of fixtures.

First up, in Germany, we look ahead to Dortmund vs Augsburg. Sunday’s match from the Bundesliga sees Eintracht Frankfurt host Union Berlin. Getafe vs Atletico Madrid and Real Betis vs Las Palmas are out games from Spain. Italy takes centre stage on Sunday. The title race is heating up as Napoli face Fiorentina and Atalanta head to Turin to take on Juventus.

Acca odds: 44.2

Dortmund vs Augsburg: One Eye on Europe

Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 8th March, 14:30 (UK)

Dortmund could only manage a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League clash with Lille midweek. With the tie on a knife edge, Niko Kovac will have one eye on the trip to France. However, his team need the points in the Bundesliga. They are currently 10th, six points off the top four.

Augsburg come into the weekend just three points behind Dortmund. They won the reverse fixture 2-1 but have a miserable record at Signal Iduna Park. Fuggerstädter have lost their last six matches at this ground, conceding 23 goals in the process.

BVB are averaging 13.67 shots per game in the Bundesliga. Their shot numbers have climbed under Kovac but the huge clash in the Champions League could mean they rest some players here. Dortmund are also unlikely to go full tilt for the full 90.  They managed just 11 shots when the teams met earlier in the season.

Jess Thorup’s side are conceding an average of 14.83 shots per Bundesliga away game. Their opponents have exceeded the 16 shot mark in jusrt one of their last seven leagu matches on the road.

  • Selection: Under 16.5 Shots For Dortmund (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Union Berlin: Top Four Hunt for Toppmöller

Germany, Bundesliga, Sunday, 9th March, 14:30 (UK)

Eintracht Frankfurt sit 3rd in the Bundesliga heading into matchday 25. They have their sights set on qualifying for the Champions League but they must return to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats. Dino Toppmöller’s side have conceded four in their last two matches on their way to losing against both Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.

Union Berlin aren’t safe from the drop. They come into the weekend just six points clear of the relegation playoff. The club made it into the top four just a couple of seasons ago, but they have struggled since.

Dino Toppmöller’s side’s matches are the most shot-friendly in the Bundesliga with an average of 29.92 shots per game, a stark contrast to last season when their games saw the fewest shots in the league. There have been 26 shots or more in four of their five home matches in 2025.

Union’s away matches have seen an average of 26.08 shots. There were 30 shots when they squared off against Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this season. Over 25.5 shots also won the last time they played at this ground.

  • Selection: Over 25.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Getafe vs Atletico Madrid: A Line too Low, Even for Getafe

Spain, La Liga, Sunday, 9th March, 13:00 (UK)

Getafe are the spoilers of La Liga. Their matches have seen the fewest goals by some distance and they are renowned for being an extremely physical side. It has proven to be an effective style. The club are six points clear of the bottom three heading into the weekend.

Atletico Madrid lost 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu midweek. They have every chance of turning the tie around in front of their own fans but getting the job done on Sunday is equally as important. Diego Simeone’s side are firmly in the title race and won’t want to give up ground on their rivals here.

Jose Bordalas’ side’s matches tend to be goal shy affairs but the shot line is set a little low at 20.5. Therefore, we are backing 21 shots or more here. This bet has won in four of their last five matches with an average of 25 attempts.

Los Colchoneros’ away matches in La Liga have seen an average of 24.25 shots. This bet has won in their last seven league games on the road. There were 24 shots when Atleti faced Getafe in the cup last month.

  • Selection: Over 20.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Real Betis vs Las Palmas: Antony Fuels Betis’ Attacks

Spain, La Liga, Sunday, 9th March, 17:30 (UK)

Real Betis earned an impressive victory over Real Madrid last weekend, which saw them move to 6th in the table. They are nine points off 4th but earning a European place is hugely important to the club. Antony has hit the ground running since joining the club and they look more menacing as a result.

Las Palmas are sailing dangerously close to the wind. They are outside of the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of this clash. Their last league win came against Barcelona at the end of November. Since then, Diego Martinez’s side have gone five league matches without a win.

Pellegrini’s team have been having plenty of shots of late. They racked up 18 against Real last weekend. Their home average over the course of the season is 16.46 so the over 15.5 line appeals.

Los Amarillos have conceded an average of 15.31 shots, the third most in La Liga. This increases to a whopping 18.31 if we only include the data from their away games. Las Palmas conceded 23 shots against Valladolid in their last game on the road.

  • Selection: Over 15.5 Shots For Real Betis (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Napoli vs Fiorentina: Conte Needs a Win

Italy, Serie A, Sunday, 9th March, 14:00 (UK)

This is a game that will have a huge impact on the title race. Napoli are a point behind Inter after enduring a run of five matches without a win in the league. Four of those have ended all square but a return to winning ways is of paramount importance if Antonio Conte’s men are to win the Scudetto.

Like Napoli, Fiorentina are also going through a rough patch. They have suffered three defeats in their last four, which has seen them slump to 7th. La Viola  have also won just one of their last six away matches in Serie A.

Napoli are desperate to win the title and will get bodies forward here. Therefore, we are backing the home side to have at least 15 shots. They had 19 against Inter in their last home match. Conte’s team are also averaging 16.77 shots per Serie A home game.

Fiorentina are conceding just 12.69 shots per Premier League away game but some recent numbers offer some encouragement for our bet. They conceded 22 shots in away games against Inter and Lazio in 2025, two teams currently in the top five. Napoli had 16 shots the last time La Viola played at this stadium.

  • Selection: Over 14.5 Shots For Napoli (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Juventus vs Atalanta: All to Play for in Turin

Italy, Serie A, Sunday, 9th March, 19:45 (UK)

Juventus have been dumped out of the cup and the Champions League in recent weeks but their league form has moved them into title contention. It’s been a season of ups and downs for Thiago Motta but his team now sit just six points behind Inter, who lead the way in Serie A.

Atalanta are also embroiled in the title race. This looks set ot be Gian Pierro Gasperini’s last season at the club. Bowing out with an unlikely league title would be a monumental story for the Bergamo based club. The are three points off the lead as they head to Turin.

The Old Lady have racked up 27 shots as they beat Verona in their last game. Motta’s men have found their mojo going forward so we are backing over 24.5 shots in this mammoth clash. This bet has won in all four of Juve’s league home games in 2025 with those matches averaging 31.5 shots.

Gasperini’s team should also make a healthy contribution to the overall shot tally. They are averaging 14.07 shots per away game this season. Those matches have seen an average of 26.21 attempts. There were 34 shots when Atalanta faced Juve earlier in the season.

  • Selection: Over 24.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
