Real Sociedad vs PSG Tip 1: Spaniards could shock PSG

The way the tie is set, nobody is expecting much of a shock here in Northern Spain. PSG never felt in any trouble in the first leg and eventually dominated the second half to claim a 2-0 advantage. Real Sociedad have been struggling in La Liga and recently got eliminated in the Copa del Rey by Mallorca.
From past experience, I feel like this is a situation that could be dangerous for PSG, though. They are sometimes at their best when everyone doubts them, but there might be an indecision on whether to stick or twist.
For Real Sociedad, their whole season is on the line here. They are out of the cup, and they are too far back to qualify for the Champions League again. They will throw absolutely everything at PSG here, and based on their performances at home in this season’s Champions League, it might be a trickier tie than most expect.
La Real legitimately outplayed the likes of Benfica and Inter here back in the autumn, and the crowd will generate an electric atmosphere. PSG struggled on the road in Europe this season, which is why I like the idea of taking the hosts on a 0.0 Asian Handicap. This gives full draw security, but they have the potential to shock PSG and make this tie close. Any team that tops a group containing Inter deserves respect.

Real Sociedad vs PSG Tip 2: Game state should lead to chances at both ends
It has not normally been a good idea to look at the goals or BTTS yes in Real Sociedad matches this season, but the state of this tie should naturally lead to a more open contest, at least eventually.
Real Sociedad know they must score at least two goals to take this tie to extra time, and in all likelihood, they will probably need to net more. Even if this match starts off cagey and tight, then you have to think the Spanish outfit will have to take some eventual risks.
I don’t think the home team will go down with a whimper. Despite their lack of goals, they should be able to score at home against a PSG side that is far from solid defensively and has endured injuries at the back. In the group stage, they conceded a huge seven goals in three away games and didn’t travel well.
BTTS – Yes can be backed at 1.75, which looks a big price when we consider the overall game state. La Real must attack at some stage, and PSG will have opportunities of their own on the break. This match has the feeling of something like a 1-1 draw or a 2-1 home win if the Basque’s can actually take their chances.

Real Sociedad vs PSG Tip 3: Wild finish possible in the Basque Country
Betting on the second half to have the most goals is probably a good idea in most of the second-leg ties for this round of the Champions League. A lot of the first legs were tight and cagey, resulting in several ‘Unders’ and ‘BTTS – No’ fixtures.
Everything is often flipped for the return leg, though, and it gets to a stage where teams get desperate. The first half in Paris was close, and Real Sociedad managed to contain PSG well. I could see both teams feeling each other out before the interval, and if we are being honest, would either side be disappointed with 0-0?
The worst thing Real Sociedad can do is be blown out of the tie before HT, and I expect them to take more risks after the break. They’d love to be ahead early, but Luis Enrique is an experienced coach, and PSG will likely be difficult to break down in the initial stages.
As soon as Real Sociedad need to take risks, then the game will open up, and there is the potential for a mad and crazy finish. Even if one goal is scored before HT, then it’s still very possible that two or more are netted after the interval. At an odds-against price, this just looks like a strong and logical bet when we consider the game state.

Real Sociedad vs PSG Team News and Possible Lineups: Neither side affected by suspensions
There are no suspensions for either team. Real Sociedad should welcome back captain Mikel Oyarzabal, who missed the first leg due to injury. He will slot in upfront. La Real have no new immediate concerns, but the likes of Aihen Munoz, Carlos Fernandez and Alvaro Odriozola are ruled out long-term.
PSG still have defensive injuries with the likes of Milan Skriniar and Presenel Kimpembe. Marquinhos is also an injury concern, although the Parisians are otherwise in good health at the time of writing.
