With European spots still to be decided in La Liga, Nathan Joyes returns to provide his Real Betis vs Sevilla prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.

Betis have turned a corner in recent weeks, recording two back-to-back victories having lost their previous four matches. Sevilla on the other hand, are also in fine form, having recorded three wins on the bounce for the first time this season.

Real Betis vs Sevilla Prediction 1: Entertaining fixture for the neutral

Spain, La Liga, Friday, April 12th, 20:00 (UK)

After four consecutive defeats, Real Betis got back on track with back-to-back victories over Celta Vigo and Valencia, giving them a real chance of European football next season.

Clean sheets remain an issue for the hosts, having kept just one from their last five matches. Even in their last two victories, both Celta Vigo and Valencia found the back of the net and although they might be in a stronger position than they were two weeks ago, defensive vulnerabilities keep Valencia in the running to nab that all important last European spot.

Sevilla has pulled themselves away from the relegation zone and although their season looks to be petering out, they have been in fine form of late, securing three wins in a row for the first time this campaign.

Having scored two goals in four of their last five matches, they carry a serious threat to Betis’ back line.

The visitors may have little to play for, but the higher they finish, the more money they will receive, so they will have an incentive to challenge Betis and record a fourth win in a row.

With plenty at stake, backing both teams to find the back of the net appears to be a safe bet.

Real Betis vs Sevilla Prediction 2: Hosts to continue firing

Despite a handful of unwanted results, Betis has scored at least two goals in four of their last five matches. Defensively they need to improve, but in attack is where they come alive.

Although they lost to Villarreal and Girona, Betis showed plenty of attacking intent in both fixtures which should suggested victories were only around the corner.

They left it rather late in their victories over Celta Vigo and Valencia, but their constant attacking waves finally paid off to secure two much needed results.

At home Betis currently has the 6th best record in the league, while Sevilla has shipped in 21 goals in their sixteen matches on the road.

The visitors’ recent form may have improved but only Girona, Real Sociedad and Real Madrid have outscored Real Betis in their last five matches.

With four different goalscorers over their last three matches, Betis have options in and around the final third to trouble Sevilla. With so much at stake, they should be able to score two more goals on their hunt for European football.

Real Betis vs Sevilla Prediction 3: Visitors striker can unnerve the hosts

As Betis has found out in recent weeks, it won’t be easy for the hosts to win the three points with a vulnerable defence. Striker Youssef En Nesyri has scored in back-to-back matches against Las Palmas and Mallorca and heads into this fixture full of confidence.

With 12 La Liga goals to his name, the Moroccan will be the visitors main threat when they face Betis away from home.

Not only has their leading talisman been fruitful in front of goal, Sevilla have created plenty of opportunities in recent weeks as they start to climb up the table.

Like Betis, they have found scoring easy in recent weeks, scoring at least two goals in four of their last five matches. However, if we are to single out someone who is capable of disrupting Betis’ comeback, En Nesyri would be top of that list.

  • Real Betis vs Celta Vigo Prediction 3: Youssef En Nesyri to score anytime
  • Best Odds: 3.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 6/10

Real Betis vs Sevilla Team News and Possible Lineups: No Bellerin for Betis

Hector Bellerin returned from injury to sit on the bench versus Girona before playing 70 minutes in Betis’ 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo.

However, the former Arsenal right back missed the trip to face Valencia and is likely to sit out of this fixture with a further muscle injury.

Chimy Avila is another likely to miss the trip having also picked up a muscle injury in recent weeks.

Kike Salas is welcomed back to the squad after missing out on against Mallorca due to a accumulation of yellow cards.
