Crystal Palace vs Liverpool: The Reds to Favour Patient Approach
England, Premier League, Saturday, 5th October, 12:30 (UK)
Crystal Palace have made a slow start to the season. They are without a win in their opening six matches and it doesn’t get any easier this weekend. The Eagles were beaten by Everton in their last game and face their neighbours, Liverpool in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Arne Slot has enjoyed a dream start as Liverpool boss. They have lost just one of their nine competitive matches thus far. The Reds sit top of the league after Manchester City drew 1-1 at St. James’s Park last weekend and are full of confidence.
The Eagles’ league games have seen 25.83 shots on average. There were just 22 shots when they welcomed Liverpool to this ground last season. In fact, under 27.5 shots has won in seven of the last eight meetings between these sides at Selhurst Park.
Liverpool’s league matches have seen an average of 24.33 shots. Slot’s side have served up some entertaining stuff but the Reds aren’t quite as gung-ho as they were under Jurgen Klopp. Their Premier League matches on the road have seen an average of just 20.67 attempts and this bet has landed in all three.
- Selection: Under 27.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Brentford vs Wolves: A Lack of Sting at the Home of the Bees
England, Premier League, Saturday, 5th October, 15:00 (UK)
Brentford drew 1-1 at home the West Ham last weekend after taking a very early lead. The Bees have seven points to show for their efforts at this stage, which means they are 12th in the Premier League.
Wolves could hardly have had a tougher start to the season. They have already faced five of last season’s top seven. As a result, Gary O Neil’s side are bottom of the league having picked up just one point.
The Bees’ matches have seen an average of 28.33 shots thus far. Nevertheless, there have been 26 shots or fewer in two of their three home matches. This bet has also won in their last four home games against Wolves with those encounters seeing an average of 22.25 shots.
Gary O’Neil’s side’s matches have seen the fourth fewest attempts in the Premier League with an average of 24. They are conceding just 13.5 shots per game on average despite taking on tough opposition.
- Selection: Under 26.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Leicester vs Bournemouth: The Cherries’ Potent Attack
England, Premier League, Saturday, 5th October, 15:00 (UK)
Steve Cooper is still searching for his first league win as Leicester boss. They have earned three points thanks to three draws in their first six games but a victory is needed sooner rather than later. The Foxes put up a fight at the Emirates last weekend but were eventually beaten 4-2 thanks to two late goals.
Bournemouth have eight points and find themselves in 11th place in the Premier League. Andoni Iraola oversaw a slow start to the season last time around so he will be delighted that his team have come flying out of the blocks.
Leicester have conceded the most shots in the division with an average of 19.17 per game. Their opponents have hit the 16-shot mark in four of their six matches to this point and this bet has won in their last three league outings.
Only Manchester City and Tottenham have conjured up more shots in the league than Bournemouth. The Cherries are averaging 16.33 per game. Their last game on the road was at Anfield and they managed 19 attempts. Bournemouth also had 19 shots the last time they faced Leicester at the King Power Stadium.
- Selection: Over 15.5 Shots For Bournemouth (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Everton vs Newcastle: Direct Approach Spells Goal Kicks
England, Premier League, Saturday, 5th October, 17:30 (UK)
After throwing away a couple of two-goal leads, Everton finally got their first win of the season last weekend as they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Goodison Park. The Toffees sit just a point above the bottom three coming into this round of fixtures.
Newcastle have suffered just one defeat in their opening six Premier League matches. They earned a 1-1 draw with Manchester City last weekend and had chances to win the game. Eddie Howe’s side are 6th in the league, 10 places above Everton but they were beaten 3-0 in this fixture last season.
Everton’s home matches so far have seen an average of 16.67 goal kicks per game, well above the overall league average of 13.55. The Toffees aren’t afraid to go direct and this can lead to an inflated goal kick count. This has certainly been the case in their recent clash with Newcastle at Goodison Park. This bet has won in the last four encounters between these sides at this ground.
Eddie Howe’s side’s league matches this season have seen the third most goal kicks in the division with an average of 15.5. This climbs to 18.33 in their away games.
- Selection: Over 16.5 Goal Kicks In the Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
Aston Villa vs Manchester United: A Cagey Affair Amidst with High Stakes
England, Premier League, Sunday, 6th October, 14:00 (UK)
Aston Villa could only manage a 2-2 draw away at Ipswich last weekend but their early season form has been excellent. They beat Bayern Munich midweek and will be full of confidence when they take to the field against Manchester United.
The Red Devils have won their last four head-to-heads with Aston Villa but they approach the weekend in crisis. Defeat here could spell the end for Erik Ten Hag. United have seven points from their opening six matches after Erik oversaw their worst-ever finish to a Premier League season last term.
The shot count in Aston Villa matches so far this season has been low. Their six games have seen 22 attempts on average, the fewest in the top tier of English football. Under 25.5 shots has landed in all three of their league matches at home.
Manchester United matches ranked highly in terms of shots last season but they haven’t been leaking as many this time around. Their matches have seen an average of 25.5 shots. Bruno Fernandes’ red card against Tottenham meant the shot count soared but their five league outings prior to that loss saw 23.6 shots on average,
- Selection: Under 25.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Brighton vs Tottenham: Head-to-Heads Suggest Less Tackles
England, Premier League, Sunday, 6th October, 16:30 (UK)
Brighton played their part in an enthralling game at Stamford Bridge last weekend but wound up losing 4-1. It was their first defeat of the season across all competitions and the first loss of Fabian Hurzeler’s reign. The manager will be hoping his team can rectify the defensive issues that plagued them against Chelsea.
Tottenham hammered Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford last weekend. They dominated the game from start to finish and made it back-to-back Premier League victories. Ange Postecoglous’s are 8th in the Premier League ahead of matchday seven.
The Seagulls’ league outings have seen 37.83 tackles per game so far this season. This number decreases to 36.67 if we only include the data from their games in front of their own fans. Their most recent match at the Amex Arena saw just 30 tackles.
Ange Postecoglou likes his team to press high up the pitch. They also have a number of players keen to run with the ball. As a result, their matches have seen the second most tackles in the league this season with 42.67 on average. However, there were just 26 and 32 tackles when they faced Brighton last season so the line here looks a little high.
- Selection: Under 40.5 Tackles In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
