Newcastle vs Manchester City: A Familiar Bet For City Outings
England, Premier League, Saturday, 28th September, 12:30 (UK)
Newcastle welcome Manchester City to St. James’s Park in Saturday’s early game in the Premier League as they look to end their torrid run against Pep Guradiola’s side. The Magpies haven’t beaten City in the league since 2019. They have lost eight of the 10 head-to-heads since then.
Manchester City needed a late goal to rescue a draw at home to Arsenal last weekend. Pep’s team had the Gunners under the cosh for the entire second half before John Stones snatched the equaliser.
Eddie Howe has taken charge of three home league matches against City. Those have seen an average of 28 throws and this bet has won in all of those encounters.
Last season, Manchester City saw the fewest throws in the Premier League with an average of 28.42 per game. Their games this season have seen an average of 29.6 throws and they should rank amongst the lowest come the end of the season. The Citizens are able to dominate the ball and play through the opposition press with ease. Long periods of sustained possession are detrimental to the throw count so we are backing unders here.

Chelsea vs Brighton: Shot Numbers Set to Dwindle
England, Premier League, Saturday, 28th September, 15:00 (UK)
Enzo Maresca will be delighted with the progress made since he took the hot seat at Stamford Bridge. They were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City on the opening weekend of the season but are unbeaten in their four league matches since. Chelsea were menacing as they beat West Ham 3-0 last weekend and will carry that threat into Saturday’s game.
Brighton also appointed a new manager in the summer. Fabian Hurzeler has also made a good start. His team haven’t tasted defeat in any of their seven competitive matches but the Seagulls have lost their last three against Chelsea.
Chelsea’s league matches so far have seen an average of 25 shots per game but this drops to 21.5 at Stamford Bridge. The Blues’ matches under Mauricio Pochettino last season saw an average of 29.08 shots per game but Maresca is known for his patient approach.
The Seagulls’ five league matches have seen the fifth-fewest shots in the division with an average of 24.4 per game. Under 26.5 shots landed on both of their visits to this ground last season.

Wolves vs Liverpool: Head-to-Heads Spell Throws
England, Premier League, Saturday, 28th September, 17:30 (UK)
Wolves comfortably avoided relegation last season, picking up 46 points. However, the underlying data suggests that points tally flattered them. Gary O’Neil’s side have struggled in the early stages of the current campaign and have just one point to show for their efforts after five games.
Jurgen Klopp left big shoes to fill but Arne Slot certainly looks as though he is up to the task. Liverpool have conceded just one goal in the league and come into the weekend just a point behind Manchester City.
There were 49 throws when Wolves hosted Liverpool last season. In fact, there have been 37 throws or more in their last four meetings between these sides at Molineux.
There has been an average of just 33.9 throws per Premier League game so far this season, 1.43 more than last term but Liverpool matches have seen more. Under Klopp, the Reds’ league matches in the last campaign saw an average of 36.58 throws. This has climbed to 42.6 under Slot, which is the most in the division.
- Selection: Over 36.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80

Ipswich vs Aston Villa: Shots at a Premium in Villa Matches
England, Premier League, Sunday, 29th September, 14:00 (UK)
Ipswich are still waiting for their first win since being promoted from the Championship but the three draws they have secured are currently keeping them out of the bottom three. Kieran McKenna earned plenty of plaudits as he steered the Tractor Boys to back-to-back promotions but survival in the Premier League would top that achievement.
Aston Villa earned a return to the Champions League by finishing 4th last season and they are looking to repeat that this term. Unai Emery’s team have made a fantastic start. The Villains have lost just one of their seven competitive matches so far.
We are backing unders on the shot line once again. Ipswich have had the fewest attempts in the league with an average of 7.6. Their matches are averaging just 22.2 shots overall. These numbers could dwindle even further as McKenna seeks to tighten things up at the back against a tough opponent.
The Villains’ matches have seen the fewest shots in the Premier League with an average of 22 per game. There have been 24 shots or less in their last four league games.
- Selection: Under 24.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80

Manchester United vs Tottenham: The High Press Inflates Throw Count
England, Premier League, Sunday, 29th September, 16:30 (UK)
Erik Ten hag finds himself under a little bit of pressure after his team failed to make the most of their chances against Crystal Palace. Manchester United’s performances have improved from last season but it has yielded very little in the way of results. They come into this clash with Tottenham in the bottom half of the table.
Tottenham came from behind to beat Brentford last weekend. It was just their second win in five league matches. Another victory this weekend could kick start their season as Ange Postecoglou looks to qualify for the Champions League in his second season.
Manchester United’s league matches have seen an average of 35.8 throws, just above the line set by Bet365 here. There were 40 throws in their last league outing and 48 in their last league game at Old Trafford so over 34.5 looks a solid bet here.
There were 36 throws in Tottenham’s last away game. This bet also won in both meetings between these sides last season with 39 and 36 throws respectively.
- Selection: Over 34.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Bournemouth vs Southampton: The Cherries’ Tackles Tendency
England, Premier League, Monday, 30th September, 20:00 (UK)
Bournemouth were hammered 3-0 at Anfield last weekend but have the chance to bounce back at home to Southampton. Andoni Iraola’s side have just one win from their opening five matches but that’s a much better start than they had in the last campaign. The Cherries didn’t secure their first win until the end of October last season.
Southampton picked up their first point at home to Ipswich last weekend. The Saints have an xG of 8.07 but have scored just two goals, making them the biggest xG underperformers in the top tier of English football. Russell Martin will be hoping his side can remedy that quickly.
The Cherries’ matches saw the second most tackles in the league last season with an average of 39.29 per game. Their opening five matches this term have seen an average of 38.6 tackles. Iraola likes his team to hunt for the ball higher up the pitch so we should see some decent tackle numbers here.
The Saints are patient with the ball and their matches have seen 35.8 tackles on average thus far. However, there were 40 tackles the last time they faced Bournemouth in a competitive match.
- Selection: Over 36.5 Tackles In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
