Arsenal vs Brighton: Seagulls Forcing Plenty of Tackles

England, Premier League, Saturday, 31st August, 12:30 (UK)

Arsenal earned an important three points against Aston Villa last weekend. It was a defeat against Unai Emery’s side that ultimately cost them the title last season. The Gunners have now won both of their Premier League matches 2-0 and know they need to set a relentless pace if they are to challenge Manchester City for the title.

Brighton have also won their opening two games. Joao Pedro scored an injury-time winner against Manchester United last weekend at the end of an evenly contested game. The Seagulls were beaten twice by Arsenal last season and will need to raise their game to get anything at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta’s side had 18 tackles in their home win over Wolves. The Gunners made an average of 16.03 tackles per league game last season but the overall numbers in the Premier League have increased in the early weeks of this season.

The Seagulls’ opponents so far this season have made an average of 21 tackles and this bet has won in both of their matches so far. Everton made 23 tackles in Brighton’s last away game.

  • Selection: Over 15.5 Tackles For Arsenal  (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Everton vs Bournemouth: Toffees Trying to Tighten Up

England, Premier League, Saturday, 31st August, 15:00 (UK)

Everton have endured a disastrous start to the season. Sean Dyche would have hoped his team could make a positive start to avoid talk of relegation but their performances thus far have been poor. They were hammered 4-0 on the road by Tottenham last weekend. The Toffees also suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat in their last league game at Goodison Park

Bournemouth are also searching for their first win after taking two points from their opening two matches. Andoni Iraola has to contend with the loss of Dominic Solanke and it will be interesting to see the impact that has as the season progresses.

Sean Dyche’s side haven’t conceded many shots despite letting in seven goals. Their average of 11.5 shots against after two games is below the league average of 12.32 shots. Everton will look to sure things up defensively here so under 26.5 shots in the match looks a solid bet.

The Cherries’ matches have seen an average of 28.5 shots but there were just 18 when the teams met earlier this year.

  • Selection: Under 26.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Brentford vs Southampton: The Saints Must Come Marching Forward

England, Premier League, Saturday, 31st August, 15:00 (UK)

Brentford offered very little in the way of attacking impetus at Anfield last weekend but they did manage to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in their last game in front of their home fans. The Bees did the double over the Saints the last time the latter were in the top flight and they will fancy their chances here.

Southampton have made a disappointing start. They were unable to make the man advantage count in their opening day trip to Newcastle as they lost 1-0. Their toothless display in a 1-0 home defeat against Nottingham Forest would have been an even greater concern for Russel Martin.

Thomas Frank’s side conceded 14.11 shots per home game last season. They allowed Crystal Palace to have 14 shots in their last outing in front of their own fans. Liverpool racked up 19 attempts against Brentford last weekend.

The Saints had just five shots in their last game against Forest so the manager will want to see them bare their teeth here. They did manage 19 shots in their opening game at St. James’s Park thanks to the sending-off. Southampton had 14 shots the last time they played at this ground.

  • Selection: Over 12.5 Shots For Southampton (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

West Ham vs Manchester City: Pep’s Team in Full Control

England, Premier League, Saturday, 31st August, 17:30 (UK)

West Ham have a woeful record against Manchester City. They haven’t beaten them in the Premier League in the last 17 head-to-heads. They have scored just 0.71 goals per game on average during that time so the signs are ominous here. However, they did earn a solid win at Selhurst Park last weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s behemoth are looking to win the title for the fifth consecutive season. They know they will face stiff competition from Arsenal once again so City will be keen to make a fast start. The Citizens coasted to victory against Ipswich last weekend after beating Chelsea in their opening game.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have shown plenty of attacking impetus so far but taking the game to City will be a tough task. Pep’s side had zero goal kicks the last time they played West Ham. The Hammers were only able to force two goal kicks the last time they welcomed City to the London Stadium.

Manchester City’s dominance meant they had the fewest corners in the Premier League last season with an average of 4.16 per game. They had just one goal kick as they beat Ipswich last weekend and they should be able to keep the Hammers at arm’s length here.

  • Selection: Under 4.5 Goal Kicks For Manchester City (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.20
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Newcastle vs Tottenham: Geordies Braced For Battle

England, Premier League, Sunday, 1st September, 13:30 (UK)

These teams are level on four points coming into this one and both harbour ambitions of making it into the Champions League. Newcastle beat Tottenham 4-0 in this fixture last season and meetings between these sides often see a glut of goals.

Tottenham made a fast start to last season. They were top of the league two months in but they eventually fell away. Ange Postecoglou had to settle for a place in the Europa League in his first season in the Premier League with his team unable to chase down Aston Villa.

Newcastle have drawn the most fouls in the league in their two matches so far with their opponents committing an average of 18 per game. Eddie Howe’s side had 18 free-kicks in their only home game of the season so far against Southampton despite being under the cosh due to being a man down.

We are backing the home side to have at least 15 free kicks in this one. This bet won when Tottenham last came to this ground. Hopefully, this game will be more competitive, which will lead to an increased foul count.

  • Selection: Over 14.5 Free Kicks For Newcastle (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Manchester United vs Liverpool: Tactical Adjustments Have an Impact

England, Premier League, Sunday, 1st September, 16:00 (UK)

Manchester United’s performances so far in this campaign have improved compared to what we saw last term. Erik Ten Hag’s side’s underlying data last season painted an ugly picture. Despite the positives, lapses in concentration proved costly against Brighton last weekend and that could be their undoing here.

Liverpool have made a winning start to life under Arne Slot. They’ve beaten both Ipswich and Brentford 2-0 but this should be a trickier test for the Reds. The team lifted the League Cup in Jurgen Klopp’s final season and will be targeting silverware once again.

Clashes between these great rivals last season saw an abundance of shots but tactical adjustments for this season mean that under 29.5 looks a good bet here. There were just 24 shots in United’s last home game thanks to their new defensive structure. The Community Shield meeting with Manchester City also saw just 17 shots.

This bet has also landed in both of Liverpool’s matches so far. Their 2-0 wins have seen 25 and 27 shots respectively. Arne Slot’s team appear to be more patient in possession than last season’s team and that should help decrease the shot numbers.

  • Selection: Under 29.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
