Arsenal vs Wolves: The Gunners Aren’t Trigger Happy
England, Premier League, Saturday, November 2nd, 15:00 (UK)
Arsenal took an early lead in the race for the Premier League title last weekend, but Arteta knows his team will need to maintain a high level if they are to fend off challenges from both Manchester City and Liverpool. The Gunners haven’t been quite as attacking as they were in the last campaign, but the results have remained solid.
Wolves played their part in a thriller on Monday night, but they ultimately came up short as they were beaten 3-2 by Fulham. Gary O’Neil couldn’t hide his dismay with the officiating at the end of the match, but he will be rallying his troops ahead of the trip to the Emirates.
The Gunners’ matches have been averaging 23 shots per game this season. That’s the fewest in the league and comfortably below the average of 26.52 shots per Premier League match.
There have been fewer shots in Wolves’ recent matches. This bet has landed in their last four games, and there were just 22 shots in their match against Fulham, despite there being five goals.
There were 20 shots in this fixture last season.
Nottingham Forest vs Everton: Everton are Tackling a Mammoth Task
England, Premier League, Saturday, November 2nd, 17:30 (UK)
Nottingham Forest were narrowly beaten by Brighton last weekend. The home side piled on the pressure late on but to no avail. Steve Cooper’s side are eight points clear of the relegation zone after 13 matches, but they still find themselves in 15th place.
Everton’s points deduction has changed the battle against the drop landscape. They’ve been plunged into the relegation zone, but they are still highly fancied to keep their heads above water this season. They were beaten 3-0 by Manchester United last weekend, but Sean Dyche would have been largely satisfied with the performance and the scoreline flattered the visitors.
Nottingham Forest average 18.46 tackles per game in this Premier League campaign, and the average for a team is just 17.17. They haven’t forced a great deal of tackles themselves, but they are taking on one of the most proactive tackling sides in the division.
Sean Dyche’s side are making the 2nd most tackles in the league with an average of 20.08 per game so far. There were 45 tackles in this fixture last season, and Everton’s most recent away match against Crystal Palace saw 40 tackles.
Newcastle vs Manchester United: Goal Kicks Aplenty When These Sides Clash
England, Premier League, Saturday, November 2nd, 20:00 (UK)
Both of these sides were held to unsatisfactory draws in the Champions League midweek. Newcastle were holding on to the lead for their lives before a controversial last-minute penalty allowed PSG to secure a point. Eddie Howe’s side will be bang up for this one with Manchester United becoming somewhat of a rival for Newcastle fans after the League Cup defeat.
Manchester United have scored three goals in both of their matches in the last week, but the defensive issues remain. Erik Ten Hag has his side set up to press ferociously from the front, but the deeper defensive line means there are huge gaps in the middle of the park.
Newcastle have already beaten Manchester United once this season and I’m expecting them to take the game to visitors here. The Magpies’ home matches in the league have been averaging 15 goal kicks per game this season. There were 20 goal kicks in this fixture last season.
The Red Devils’ recent away matches have also seen plenty of goal kicks. There were 19 on their recent visits to Goodison Park and Craven Cottage. There have been at least 17 goal kicks with an average of 18.5 per game in the four head-to-heads between these sides since the start of last season.
West Ham vs Crystal Palace: Hammers’ Trend to Continue
England, Premier League, Sunday, November 3rd, 14:00 (UK)
West Ham have strung together a run of three consecutive wins in competitive fixtures and they are well on the road to recovery. Poor results throughout October set them back, but they are in the top half of the table and poised to challenge the pack that have their sights set on European football.
Crystal Palace were beaten by Luton last weekend. They have now lost four of their last five matches, and are in danger of being dragged into a relegation scrap if the teams below them put a good run together.
The Hammers’ Premier League matches at home have been averaging 13.17 goal kicks per game this season. That’s well below the league average of 14.56 goal kicks. This bet has won in West Ham’s last three home matches in the league.
Crystal Palace’s away matches have seen 13.71 goal kicks per game on average. The meetings between these sides last season also saw very few goal kicks. There were 11 in this fixture and 13 when West Ham travelled to Selhurst Park in the last campaign.
Bournemouth vs Aston Villa: Cherries on Top
England, Premier League, Sunday, November 3rd, 14:00 (UK)
Bournemouth look to have finally turned a corner under Andoni Iraola. They’ve won three of their last four Premier League matches and the performances have been solid. Their last home game saw them beat Newcastle 2-0, and they will need a similarly brilliant performance to take all three points against Aston Villa.
Unai Emery’s side climbed into the top four by beating Tottenham last weekend and they are just two points off top coming into this round of fixtures. However, their away form has been iffy this season. The win last weekend was just their third in seven league matches on the road.
The Cherries had 19 shots when they beat Newcastle, and I fancy them to have a few here. Their early season form was diabolical, but they have kept faith in the manager and his style of play is starting to pay dividends. Bournemouth have been averaging 12.14 shots per home game in the Premier League this season.
- Selection: Over 10.5 Shots In The Match For Bournemouth

Manchester City vs Tottenham: City Composed on Home Turf
England, Premier League, Sunday, November 3rd, 16:30 (UK)
The final match of the weekend is undoubtedly the highlight. Manchester City played well against Liverpool last weekend, but were pegged back by a late goal from Trent Alexander-Arnold. Pep Guardiola’s side are now a point behind Arsenal in the race for the title and will want to make a statement here.
Tottenham were top of the table just a few weeks ago, but three straight defeats has left them in 5th. A fourth consecutive defeat this weekend would likely see them drop into 6th position. Ange Postecoglou has done well since taking the helm, but this is the first period of adversity he has had to endure.
Under 31.5 throws in the match looks a good bet here. Manchester City’s league matches at the Etihad have seen an average of 26 throws per game this season. This bet has landed in five of their six Premier League home matches, and there were just 22 in last weekend’s clash with Liverpool.
This one should play out in a similar manner to the Liverpool game. Tottenham will be keen to press, but Pep Guardiola’s side are the masters at remaining calm and playing through the pressure. This will hopefully lead to a low throw count.
