Aston Villa vs Sheffield United: Villa Are Much Sharper Than the Blades

England, Premier League, Friday, December 22nd, 20:00 (UK)

Aston Villa edged past Brentford in their last match as they continued their tremendous run of form. Unai Emery’s side have a golden opportunity this weekend with Liverpool squaring off against Arsenal. The Villains could go into Christmas as the Premier League leaders.

Sheffield United have chosen to bring Chris Wilder back to the club in a bid to obtain survival. The Blades have been very poor in the campaign’s first half, so they are already six points off safety. They have picked up one win in Wilder’s three matches so far, and they face another stern test at Villa Park.

Emery’s side’s matches have seen very few throws so far this season, with an average of 28.25 per game, and the throw line for this one is low as a result. There have been exceptions; their home game against Crystal Palace saw 42 throws, and there are signs that this fixture could be an anomaly.

Sheffield United’s league matches are averaging 40.76 throws per game. This climbs to 45.33 since Chris Wilder took charge. As a result, a longer odds bet with a reduced stake looks like a decent pick here.

  • Selection: Over 37.5 Throws In The Match
  • Best Odds: 4.33
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 3/10

West Ham vs Manchester United: Goal Kicks Trend to Continue

England, Premier League, Saturday, December 23rd, 12:30 (UK)

West Ham were beaten 5-1 by Liverpool in the League Cup midweek. However, their Premier League match and their last outing on home turf was a 3-0 victory over Wolves. The Hammers can move above their opponents with a win here. They also recorded a win in this fixture last season.

Manchester United earned a draw at Anfield last weekend, but it wasn’t enough to stop them slipping further down the table. Erik Ten Hag’s side are yet to find their best form this season, and there is plenty of cause for concern as we head into the Christmas period.

David Moyes’ side’s clashes with Manchester United in recent seasons have seen plenty of goal kicks. There were 21 in this fixture last season. There has been an average of 20.6 in the last five head-to-heads.

United’s away matches this season have seen 15.13 goal kicks per game on average. This bet has landed in the last four with an average of 18.75. Erik Ten Hag’s side have been facing plenty of shots this season and this has helped inflate the goal-kick numbers.

  • Selection: Over 14.5 Goal Kicks In The Match
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Fulham vs Burnley: Fulham Set to Attack

England, Premier League, Saturday, December 23rd, 15:00 (UK)

Fulham were beaten 3-0 at St. James’s Park last weekend, but there has been plenty of cause for optimism at the club in recent weeks. The team have put their early season goal-scoring woes behind them and catapulted themselves into mid-table. Marco Silva’s side have won their last three matches at Craven Cottage and will be looking to make it four in a row here.

Burnley won the Championship last season, but they are at risk of being cut adrift at the bottom along with the other newly promoted sides. They were beaten at home by Everton last weekend and their only wins so far have come against Luton and Sheffield United.

Marco Silva’s side struggled to create without Aleksandr Mitrovic at first but they have been having plenty of opportunities of late. They are averaging 13.88 shots per game at home in the Premier League this season. They had 21 attempts the last time they hosted Burnley.

Vincent Kompany’s side are conceding plenty of shots on the road. Their opponents are averaging 17.5 in their away matches and this bet has landed in six of those eight matches.

  • Selection: Over 13.5 Shots for Fulham
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 9/10

Tottenham vs Everton: Tottenham Looking to Build Momentum

England, Premier League, Saturday, December 23rd, 15:00 (UK)

Tottenham have well and truly returned to winning ways after their win over Nottingham Forest. Ange Psotecoglou’s side have arrested their slump with consecutive victories, but there is still plenty of work to be done if they want to break into the Champions League places. Spurs have already suffered three home defeats this season and Saturday’s clash could be another tricky one.

Everton have won four Premier League games on the bounce. They were beaten by Fulham on penalties midweek, but the Toffees have been in fantastic form. They would be in the top half of the table if they weren’t hit with a 10-point deduction for financial fair play breaches.

This one promises to be a hotly-contested affair and the hope for this bet is that the sides cancel each other out in phases. Tottenham’s home matches this season are averaging over 31 shots per game but this bet has won in their last five meetings with Everton with an average of 23.6 shots per game.

The Toffees’ eight Premier League matches this season have seen an average of 25.5 shots per game. There have been 30 or fewer in seven of those eight matches. Their most recent was a trip to Burnley were there were just 23 attempts.

  • Selection: Under 30.5 Shots In The Match
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Liverpool vs Arsenal: Gunners Can Take the Game To Liverpool

England, Premier League, Saturday, December 23rd, 17:30 (UK)

Liverpool were left frustrated last weekend as they were unable to break the deadlock against Manchester United. The draw meant they surrendered top spot in the Premier League to Arsenal. However, the fixture list has granted them the perfect opportunity to retake the ascendency this weekend.

Arsenal were exceptional in their win over Brighton. Arteta’s men were able to exert a level of control seldom seen against Roberto De Zerbi’s side. This trip to Anfield is a chance for the Gunners to show that they are ready to make the leap and become champions.

Klopp’s side are averaging 21.88 throws per game at Anfield this season. They had 35 in their last home match against Manchester United and this bet has landed in the last five. Liverpool’s throw average drops slightly to 21.06 in their 17 league matches overall.

Arsenal matches rank as having one of the lowest throw counts in the league but this promises to be an intense battle. In their last five matches against Liverpool, they have forced an average of 22.2 throws.

  • Selection: Over 18.5 Throws For Liverpool
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Wolves vs Chelsea: The Blues Must Face Up to the Pack

England, Premier League, Sunday, December 23rd, 13:00 (UK)

Wolves have picked up just one win in their last five matches. Their 3-0 loss at West Ham last weekend was particularly disappointing but they will be reasonably happy with how the first half of the season has gone. The team were in turmoil when Gary O’Neil took charge but they are fighting it out in the middle of the table.

Chelsea are two points above Wolves coming into this clash. Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t had it all his own way since taking the hot seat at Stamford Bridge but there is a commitment to a long-term project at Chelsea. The Blues overcame Newcastle to make it to the last four of the League Cup midweek. That should give them a much-needed boost.

Wolves’ opponents in the Premier League this season are averaging 19.29 tackles per game. This bet has landed in their last three league games at Molineux. The most recent saw Nottingham Forest have 21 tackles.

Pochetttino’s side have had 18 or more tackles in four of their last five away matches in the league. Chelsea had 27 tackles the last time they took on Wolves and this bet has landed in the last three head-to-heads.

  • Selection: Over 17.5 Tackles For Chelsea
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
