Manchester City vs Liverpool: Pep and Klopp’s battle of wits
England, Premier League, Saturday, November 25th, 12:30 (UK)
The Premier League weekend kicks off with a blockbuster clash. Manchester City welcome Liverpool to the Etihad, and they need to secure all three points to ensure they hold on to the top spot. Pep Guardiola’s side have won all seven of their home matches in all competitions this season and have scored 3.14 goals per game in the process.
Liverpool are a point behind City, but much of their good work has been done on home turf. They beat Brentford 3-0 at Anfield last weekend, but they have picked up just one win in their last five away matches. The Etihad is a difficult place to go and Klopp’s side will need to be at their very best here.
Manchester City’s home league matches have been averaging just 18.4 shots per game this season. They’ve been restricting their opponents to just 6.6 on average, and this clash with Liverpool should be a midfield battle.
Liverpool’s last five visits to the Etihad have seen 19.2 shots per game on average. This bet has won in four of those matches.
Sheffield United vs Bournemouth: The Blades Braced for Another Battle
England, Premier League, Saturday, November 25th, 15:00 (UK)
Sheffield United have picked up four points in their last two matches to move them off the bottom of the table. Despite the improvement, they are still highly-fancied for relegation. Nonetheless, this weekend is an opportunity for them to climb out of the bottom three when they take on fellow strugglers.
Bournemouth picked up a huge win over Newcastle in their last match. They are now four points above the Blades, but a defeat here would drag them right into the thick of a relegation battle. The Cherries have struggled to adapt to Andoni Iraola’s footballing principles, but avoiding the drop would be deemed a successful first season.
The Blades concede more shots than any other side in the league. Their opponents average 18.67 shots per game, and this climbs to 19.33 across their six home matches. The opposition have at least 14 shots in all of those matches.
Bournemouth haven’t set the world alight in terms of their attacking output. They average 11.5 shots per Premier League game but can exceed that number against Sheffield United.
Brentford vs Arsenal: The Bees Offer Plenty of Sting
England, Premier League, Saturday, November 25th, 17:30 (UK)
Brentford endured a difficult start to the season, but three consecutive wins prior to the defeat away to Liverpool have put them firmly in the middle of the table. Wins over Burnley, Chelsea and West Ham boosted their confidence, but their recent meetings with Arsenal are less encouraging. The Bees were beaten 3-0 in this fixture last season.
Like Liverpool, Arsenal are just one point behind Manchester City. The Gunners can benefit from their title rivals squaring off this weekend, and they will be keen to put a winning run together.
These sides have already faced each other in the League Cup this season, and there were 33 tackles in that match. There were also 33 tackles when Arsenal came to this ground last season.
Brentford’s home matches in the Premier League have seen an average of 31.33 tackles per game this season.
Arsenal’s away matches average 33 tackles. This is largely due to the high tackle count when they travelled to Bournemouth, but over 29.5 tackles looks like a good bet here.
Tottenham vs Aston Villa: Villa’s Revealing Throws Trend
England, Premier League, Sunday, November 26th, 16:30 (UK)
Tottenham were the league leaders just a few weeks ago, but they could slip out of the top four here. Ange Postecoglou has done a remarkable job since taking over, but Spurs have slightly overperformed their underlying data. Back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Wolves have dampened hopes of a title charge, but there is still plenty of cause for optimism at Tottenham.
Aston Villa qualified for Europe last season, and they look set to challenge for a Champions League place in this campaign. They beat Fulham 3-1 in their last match, and are just three points off top coming into the weekend.
Spurs’ most recent home match against Chelsea saw just 32 throws in the match. There were 22 throws the last time Tottenham took on Aston Villa, and there have been fewer throws in the league overall this season in comparison to last.
Unai Emery’s side have kicked on this season and looked more accomplished in possession. Their matches have been averaging 29.17 throws per game in the Premier League, well below the league average of 35.53. Only Manchester City and Brighton matches have seen fewer throws.
Everton vs Manchester United: Dyche’s Rallying Call
England, Premier League, Sunday, November 26th, 16:30 (UK)
Everton are back in the bottom three, despite a good run of form thanks to a 10-point deduction they were handed for breaching FFP. Sean Dyche will have rallied his troops in the wake of the news, and the Toffees will still fancy their chances of avoiding the drop. Everton have won four of their last six competitive matches.
Manchester United have performed poorly since the start of the season. Their camping has been littered with lacklustre performances, and they have been fortunate in recent matches. Incredibly, Erik Ten Hag’s side top the Premier League’s form table, but this weekend signals the start of a difficult run of fixtures.
Everton have created plenty of chances this season, even when results were poor in the early stages. As a result, their home games have seen plenty of goal kicks. The six league matches at Goodison Park this season have seen 17.83 goal kicks per game; 8.17 for Everton and 9.67 for the opposition.
The Red Devils’ most recent away match in the league at Craven Cottage saw 19 goal kicks. There were 22 goal kicks when they last played Everton away from home.
Fulham vs Wolves: A Pack of Wolves There to be Tackled
England, Premier League, Monday, November 27th, 20:00 (UK)
Just three points separate these sides ahead of their meeting on Monday night football. Fulham have picked up just three wins in their 12 Premier League matches so far. Scoring has been a real problem for them since Aleksandr Mitrovic departed the club in the summer, and the teams have been averaging just 0.83 goals per league game.
Wolves will be happy with the way they have started under Gary O’Neil. He had the unenviable task of taking over from Julen Lopetegui, just days before the season began. However, performances have been good, and they are well clear of the bottom three, despite facing all of the league’s top sides.
Fulham have been averaging 17.33 tackles per game so far this season. This is just above the league average of 17.17, but they are taking on a Wolves side that are adept at forcing tackles.
Marco Silva’s side had 20 tackles in this fixture last season and 19 on their trip to Molineux.
Wolves’ opponents average 19.67 tackles per game in the Premier League. This climbs to 21.67 in their away matches, and this bet has landed in all six of those.
