Wolves vs Liverpool: The Reds not planning to throw away three points
England, Premier League, Saturday, September 16th, 12:30 (UK)
Wolves and Liverpool kick off the Premier League action after the international break. Wolves earned a memorable 3-0 victory in this fixture last season, but they aren’t in great form coming into this clash. Gary O’Neil’s side were beaten by Crystal Palace in their last match. Their only league win so far came against an Everton side that is struggling.
Liverpool were impressive as they beat Aston Villa in their last game. Klopp’s side are unbeaten in the Premier League so far and have the potential to be title contenders. A good run of results in the coming weeks would go a long way towards proving just that.
The Reds have much more in control at the start of this season than they did last season. They kept 64% possession in their most recent match, and there were just 27 throws. This bet has landed three of their four league matches so far this season. The exception was their win over Bournemouth, which saw exactly 39 throws.
There have also been less than 39 throws in three of Wolves’ matches. Their matches so far have seen a total of 30, 30, 49 and 38 throws.
- Selection: Under 38.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
West Ham vs Manchester City: The Hammers to face City onslaught
England, Premier League, Saturday, September 16th, 15:00 (UK)
West Ham have made a brilliant start to this season. David Moyes’ side have picked up 10 points in their opening four matches and have the chance to go top of the league with a win here. The Hammers’ new signings have settled in quickly, and they look set to challenge for a place in Europe once again.
They take on the most formidable side in the country. Manchester City are the only side with a 100% record at this stage. Pep Guardiola’s side are the team to beat once again. They hammered Fulham last time out, and nothing we have seen so far suggests they don’t deserve their favourites tag.
Manchester City had to dig deep to win their last match on the road against Sheffield United. The Blades defended resolutely as Pep Guardiola’s side racked up a grand total of 30 shots. This game could play out in a similar manner, with West Ham likely to sit deep in an attempt to hold firm. City have reached the mark for this bet to land in both away games this season.
West Ham have been playing well, but they have still afforded their opponents plenty of opportunities. Luton managed 16 against them in their last match. Their opponents are averaging 18 shots per game so far.
- Selection: Over 16.5 Shots For Manchester City (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Newcastle vs Brentford:Newcastle must return to winning ways
England, Premier League, Saturday, September 16th, 17:30 (UK)
Newcastle have suffered three consecutive defeats in the league, so there is much work to be done if they are to reach the heights of last season. Eddie Howe’s side have had difficult fixtures to contend with at the start of this season, but the beginning of the Champions League could pose further problems in terms of squad management. The Magpies have been handed a tough group and will want to end their losing run before heading to Milan.
Brentford are yet to lose a league match this season, but they have only picked up one win. That solitary win came in their only away match so far. Thomas Frank will be hoping his side put on a better showing than when they were beaten 5-1 at St. James’s Park last season.
The Magpies also look set to have plenty of attempts. They are averaging 19.4 shots per game in their last five league matches in front of their own crowd. Things may not have gone smoothly this season, but they have still shown plenty of attacking impetus. They had 16 shots in this fixture last season despite having a comfortable lead early on.
Brentford will want to put up more of a fight than their last visit here, and greater defensive stability should mean that their opponents need to push on. The Bees conceded ten shots in their only away game this season but played against ten men for a considerable period.
- Selection: Over 17.5 Shots For Newcastle (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
Bournemouth vs Chelsea: Both sides to try win possession high up the pitch
England, Premier League, Sunday, September 17th, 14:00 (UK)
Bournemouth took a gamble in the summer by bringing in Andoni Iraola despite remaining in the Premier League under Gary O’Neil. There have been some encouraging signs in this early part of the season, but the Cherries are still searching for their first win of the campaign.
Chelsea’s faced an inquest following their shock defeat at home to Nottingham Forest in their last match. The Blues suffered throughout last season despite bringing in a wealth of talent. Mauricio Pochettino has been tasked with knitting this squad together, but the first few matches of this season suggest that patience is required.
Iraola is known for wanting his players to pester the opposition as they play out from the back. As a result, Bournemouth matches have seen plenty of tackles so far this season. Their Premier League matches are averaging 40.75 tackles per game. This bet didn’t land when they faced Liverpool, but it was on course prior to MacAllister’s red card.
Pochettino also likes his teams to be proactive without the ball. There were 39 tackles in Chelsea’s last match.
- Selection: Over 34.5 Tackles In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Everton vs Arsenal: Repeat performance at Goodison?
England, Premier League, Sunday, September 17th, 16:30 (UK)
Everton were able to rescue a point against Sheffield United, but the only success they‘ve managed this season. The Toffees have been embroiled in a relegation fight for the past two seasons, and they look set for another gruelling battle at the bottom. Sean Dyche’s first game in charge of Everton was a win in this fixture last season.
Arsenal dramatically beat Manchester United before the break. The Gunners harbour title ambitions this season and will want to put on a convincing display at Goodison Park. Arteta’s side have 10 points after four matches.
Everton’s home matches so far this season have seen plenty of goal kicks. The Toffees have been direct in their pursuit of a goal but often lack the finishing touch. Dyche’s men are also vulnerable at the back, meaning there should be opportunities at both ends. Everton’s last five home matches have seen an average of 16.6 goal kicks.
Arsenal’s visit to this ground last season saw 21 goal kicks, well above what is required here. There were 13 goal kicks in their only away match so far, but a red card in the 67th minute slowed the rate down significantly.
- Selection: Over 14.5 Goal Kicks In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Nottingham Forest vs Burnley: Fiercely contested game should lead to throws
England, Premier League, Monday, September 18th, 20:00 (UK)
Steve Cooper will be happy with the start that his side have made this season. They have two wins already, and both defeats have been against sides that finished inside the top four last season. They were beaten by Burnley in the League Cup last month and will be out for revenge.
Burnley earned many plaudits for the way they played last season as they finished top of the Championship. Kompany’s side have only played three Premier League matches so far, suffering comprehensive defeats in them all. The Clarets will be keen to get their first points on the board this weekend.
Nottingham Forest have only played one home match so far this season. That matchup was against another of the newly-promoted sides, and there were 53 throws in the game. Steve Cooper’s sides’ last ten home Premier League matches have seen an average of 41.1 throws per game.
The Clarets have faced some of the best teams in the league so far. They have been unable to get a foothold in all three matches, meaning the throw count has been reasonably low. Expect their first away league match this season to play out differently.
- Selection: Over 40.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
