Premier League Acca Tips: August 25th-26th

It’s matchday 3 in England’s top flight and we’ve got Premier League acca tips ready for August 25th-26th. We’re looking at three games in England this weekend. We kick off with Chelsea vs Luton on Friday night before moving to two of the biggest games of the weekend on Saturday.

Acca odds: 13.63

Odds via bet365 as at 13:45 on 25th August 2023. Odds may now differ.

Chelsea vs Luton – Slow Start for the Blues at the Bridge

England, Premier League, Friday, August 25th, 20:00 (UK)

Chelsea are not the force they once were at Stamford Bridge. Those days are long gone despite the changes in management and player personnel.

The Blues have only won twice at home in the Premier League in 2023. They are failing to score with a growing frequency and have averaged just under 0.7 goals scored per game since the turn of the year.

They also start slowly in games. The Blues found the net in the first half of a Premier League match at home just twice in 2023 since the turn of the year. One was an own goal and the other came on the opening day against a struggling Liverpool side.

Luton of course have had an extra week of rest – whether that will be a help or hindrance remains to be seen.

We’ve only seen them once in the Premier League so far and that was on the opening day. The conclusion we can draw from that one is that it took Brighton 36 minutes to break them down and find the opener. Brighton are a far better side than Chelsea right now so the logic holds.

  • Selection: Chelsea to Not Score in the First Half (TRACKED BET)

Arsenal vs Fulham – Gunners to Misfire But Get the Points

England, Premier League, Saturday, August 25th, 15:00 (UK)

Arsenal host Fulham on Saturday afternoon and we’re looking at one of my favourite bets from last season for this one. That is backing a Gunners win but for them to fail to keep a clean sheet.

Arsenal were night and day when it comes to both teams scoring last season. Both teams scored in 14 of their home Premier League matches last campaign compared to seven on the road. They kept clean sheets in four at home and 10 of their away fixtures.

Backing BTTS in each of Arsenal’s home games last season would have landed +7.83 units of profit.

I don’t feel too good about Fulham’s chances this season or this team in general. They were woeful against Brentford last weekend but provided a decent goal threat against Everton on the opening day.

This bet already landed on matchday 1 but it’s got a lot more to do with Mikel Arteta’s side than the visitors.

  • Selection: Arsenal to Win and BTTS Yes (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.75
  • Bookmaker: Coral
  • Stake: 5/10

Man United vs Nottingham Forest – Tricky Trees to Upset the Odds

England, Premier League, Saturday, August 25th, 15:00 (UK)

I’m expecting an upset at Old Trafford.

Manchester United host Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon and enter the game with a pretty remarkable home record. The Red Devils haven’t lost at home in the league for over a calendar year. They’ve won each of their last seven and are heavy favourites here.

Still, I haven’t been too impressed with them so far this season. There are big gaps in the midfield and a front three that just isn’t working. Their only points this campaign came from a 1-0 win against Wolves on the opening day but anyone who watched that game will know the scoreline flattered them. They were lucky to escape with one point from that match let alone three.

Forest, on the other hand, I have enjoyed. I backed them to win last week and they squeaked over the line but they’ll most likely set up for this one in a similar way to how they played against Arsenal on the opening day. They’ll remain solid and look for quick transitions and as we saw against Wolves, United will struggle against that, especially in midfield.

Erik Ten Hag will have several absentees for this one including Mason Mount and Luke Shaw. Christian Eriksen can obviously step into that midfield slot but United will probably now have to fit Diogo Dalot in at left back which is not ideal.

There’ll be chances for Forest especially as the game progresses with former United man Anthony Elanga expected to start from the bench and look to make an impact late on.

Add to that the growing threat of Taiwo Awoniyi. The Nigerian is perhaps the most in-form striker in England’s top flight right now after scoring in each of his last six Premier League appearances for Forest including a couple of braces.

I almost went for a Forest win/draw double chance but the +1.5 on the Asian handicap was too tempting. This way, even if United win by one goal, the bet is a winner.

  • Selection: Nottingham Forest +1.5 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.01
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 9/10
