After Palmeiras drew with San Lorenzo in round one, Abel Ferreira’s side have won three matches on the bounce and comfortably lead Group F. 

A key win was against their next opponents in Ecuador, where the highly-rated Luis Guilherme scored a wonderful winning goal in the final minute. Expect the left-winger to be the next on his way to Europe.

Back at Allianz Parque, Palmeiras should be able to get the job done. Independiente del Valle have struggled on their travels, failing to pick up a win in both Argentina and Uruguay.

Away from their high altitude, they’ve not been able to play their usual game. One goal on the road is simply not good enough to get you out of the group stage in this particular tournament. Improvement is needed, but a trip to Brazil is an almost impossible task.

Palmeiras hammered Liverpool 5-0 last time out, and with goals spread amongst the team, Ferreira’s squad is one of the best in the entire competition and they can secure top spot in style in round five with another win.

Palmeiras vs Independiente del Valle Prediction 2: Young star to score once more

Perhaps a more obvious selection, but having scored in his last two Libertadores matches, Endrick is clearly looking to leave his club in a good position before flying to Madrid.

With Palmeiras expected to create plenty of opportunities – an xG of 2.03 vs Liverpool last time out – the young Brazilian will be feasting in front of goal in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Having been announced in Dorival Junior’s Copa America squad, the 17-year-old’s confidence must be through the roof at present, and this is another opportunity to prove why he should be leading the line in the US.

The hosts will operate with a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 formation against Independiente del Valle, and with plenty of pace either side of Endrick, the striker has shown he can finish in the air or on the ground inside the box – defenders struggling to cope with his movement.

If Palmeiras are going to win, and with a chance of adding more goals to their impressive tally, expect Endrick to play his part.

Palmeiras vs Independiente del Valle Prediction 3: Visitors to go down swinging

The visitors may be sat in second spot with San Lorenzo and Liverpool also sharing four points, the Ecuadorian side are very much up against it with their trip to Brazil.

However, domestically, Independiente del Valle are top of their league, having scored 20 goals in 12 matches. This has largely been down to the success of their teenage superstar Kendry Paez.

Not only did he score and assist at the weekend against El Nacional, but he also opened up the scoring against Palmeiras in the reverse leg. Paez is already proving to be one of the best talents in South America – if not the world – for his age.

The hosts lost 2-0 at the weekend to Athletico PR showing defensive vulnerabilities, as they have on a couple of occasions in the Libertadores as well.

The visitors desperately need points on the board to make sure they are in a good position in the final round. Many, as did I, expected Independiente del Valle to go far in this competition and they won’t go out without a fight.

Palmeiras vs Independiente del Valle Team News and Possible Lineups: All eyes on Endrick and Estevao

Both Endrick and Estevao are all over social media these days and it’s no real surprise. With Endrick on his way to Real Madrid and Estevao linked heavily with Chelsea, the chance to watch two of Brazil’s brightest talents link up together is a joy to watch. Both started in Ecuador and Uruguay, and we’ll be fortunate to see them once more at Allianz Parque.

Chelsea have also signed Kendry Paez, who has stepped up and proven to be del Valle’s best player – despite having just turned 17. The Ecuadorian club will need him to be at his best if they are to get anything out of the match.
