Palmeiras vs Bragantino Prediction 1: Hosts to lean on experience
Brazil, Brasileirão, Thursday, June 12th, 01:30 (UK)
Life after Endrick and Luis Guilherme will make Ferreira’s job even more difficult. However, without the duo, they were able to win their first Serie A match of the campaign, beating Vasco 2-0.
Although Vasco are not the strongest side in the division, Palmeiras dominated the match and it was their last teenage sensation left, Estevao, who recorded two assists – becoming the youngest player to do so in the league since records began back in 2014.
With Endrick and Luis Guilherme out of the picture, experienced forward Rony was able to return to the starting XI, who scored the second goal vs Vasco. If he can recapture his form from 2022, Ferreira has a dangerous striker he can rely on.
On loan winger Lazaro also started, who has already chipped in with a handful of goals this campaign, and the youngster will want to impress and potentially earn a permanent move back to Brazil.
Luis Guilherme admitted Raphael Veiga was the best he’s ever played alongside, and with the 28-year-old in the heart of midfield alongside Anibal Moreno and Ze Rafael, there’s a huge amount of talent and experience in Palmeiras’ midfield.
Bragantino have been strong on the road this campaign which makes this fixture tricky for the hosts. However, they’ve still only won once (two draws) from their four matches. That win came against Gremio, a team restructuring and playing away from their usual ground to the flooding in the south of Brazil.
If Palmeiras are to compete for another title, these are the games they need to win. Admittedly, they’ve lost their star striker, but there’s enough experience within the squad to secure a win over a young Bragantino side.

Palmeiras vs Bragantino Prediction 2: Trust in Veiga
Operating in the no.8 role is where you’ll find Raphael Veiga. Arguably Palmeiras’ best midfielder during their most successful years, the 28-year-old offers plenty of support to his attacking teammates.
Ferreira has adopted a 4-3-3 formation, and with the likes of Estevao and Lazaro able to hug the touchlines when advancing into the final third, this allows space for Raphael Veiga to move into.
Not afraid to shoot from range, either, the Brazilian likes to roam into the space created by the wingers and strike from outside the box at any given opportunity.
For context, Veiga had three shots against Vasco, three against Criciuma, four against Athletico PR and managed two vs Sao Paulo in a 0-0 draw away from home.
Whether Palmeiras are leading or chasing the game, Veiga will continue to test the opposition goalkeeper when an opportunity presents itself.
This bet has additional bonuses, as Veiga is Palmeiras’ dedicated free-kick and penalty taker.
- Palmeiras vs Bragantino Prediction 2: Raphael Veiga Over 2.5 Shots
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
Palmeiras vs Bragantino Prediction 3: Ill disciplined hosts
After the success of my card bet in the recent Flamengo vs Gremio preview, you could argue I’m getting carried away believing I’ve discovered a “new” angle for my columns.
Don’t worry, I’ll always keep my suggestions as disciplined as possible – although the same cannot be said for Palmeiras this season in the Brasileirão.
The reason the card angle has caught my attention is down to the fact Palmeiras has received a minimum of three cards in six of their eight league matches at the time of writing.
Whether leading, drawing or chasing a match, there has been a real lack of professionalism across the entire squad.
The team knows how to collect “cheap yellows” when holding on to a lead, having picked up three in the 90th minute against Criciuma on the road.
Frustration was evident in a 2-0 home defeat to Athletico PR, where Palmeiras earned four yellow cards, as well as one for Abel Ferreira for expressing his feelings towards the referee.
That wasn’t his first yellow, either, and if that is coming from the coach, the players will feel it’s more acceptable to react in a certain way on the pitch.
Bragantino will likely frustrate the hosts at certain periods during the match, and if anything boils over, expect players like Mayke, Ze Rafael and Murilo will end up in the referee’s book.
- Palmeiras vs Bragantino Prediction 3: Over 2.5 Palmeiras cards
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
