Palmeiras vs Bahia Prediction 1: Hosts in good form

Many expected Palmeiras to struggle without Endrick but it appears to have gone the other way, and with Estevao still on the books they’ve continued to look strong. Another title bid is definitely on the cards for Ferreira’s men.

Palmeiras have only lost one of their last ten, which was a below par 3-0 defeat on the road to Fortaleza, but have won seven of those – which includes four consecutive league wins at home.

A win last time out against arch-rivals Corinthians may have been expected, but one that will have given the squad and fans a boost as they continue to chase Flamengo and Botafogo for top spot.

Having only conceded two in their last five, Palmeiras’ defence has vastly improved in recent weeks, as they continue to collect points without hammering anyone.

Bahia haven’t won in four away matches as their blistering start to the season begins to slow down, and although they are expected to finish in the top six/eight this campaign, these are the kind of fixtures that will keep them from competing any higher.

Palmeiras vs Bahia Prediction 2: Both teams to fire

Despite Bahia’s dip in form, they have still managed to score in all five of their last away matches across all competitions – with four of those coming in the Brasileirao. 

In fact, only two of their last 20 matches have they failed to find the back of the net, both of those coming in the state cup prior to the league campaign beginning.

This bet may have only landed in two of the last five meetings at Allianz Parque, but this is a Bahia team, (City Group owned), that has invested quite a lot of money in the last 12-18 months, which is why they are towards the top of the table.

The addition of Santos’ Jean Lucas and Flamengo’s Everton Ribeiro has added experience in the heart of the midfield, while winger Caio Alexandre was brought in for good money from Vancouver Whitecaps.

Up front, they have Brazilian Everaldo, who was playing in Japan for Kashima until 2023, who has already scored five goals in the league and is clearly their main threat.

Scoring shouldn’t be an issue for Palmeiras, who have scored at least two goals in their last four home matches, as well four on the road against title challengers Atletico Mineiro.

Palmeiras are short to win this game, but this puts the both team to score price in a much better position to back.

Palmeiras vs Bahia Prediction 3: Flaco to find the net

Endrick’s “replacement” is Argentine forward Flaco Lopez, who has been trusted to come in and lead the line for Palmeiras.

Brought in for almost £10m last year from Lanus, the 23-year-old has had to wait for his opportunity, but appears to be finding his feet this campaign.

After a successful period during the state cup scoring 10 goals in 15 appearances, it has been a slightly slower start to life in the Brasileirao. However, recent goals against Atletico Mineiro and Juventude show he’s heading in the right direction.

Either way, Ferreira is sticking with him over Rony, and with more minutes under his belt, he could be the perfect fit for Palmeiras up top. 

With so much individual brilliance in behind, Lopez has the best service in the league. Not only is Estevao on the wing, but Raphael Veiga operates in the middle and likes to support his attacking players, and no doubt opportunities will fall Lopez’s way against Bahia.
