Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United Tip 1: Goals galore on Trentside
England, FA Cup, Wednesday, February 28th, 19:45 (UK)
There’s something special about an evening match at the City Ground and there’s reason to believe this one will be no different.
Although Forest’s cup run has been more of a crawl, they’ve grafted to squeeze past Blackpool and Bristol City and have been rewarded with a home tie against the 12-time holders.
Nuno Santo has made Forest a more attacking side since the dismissal of Steve Cooper, and their 2-0 win over West Ham showed they are capable in front of goal – despite a host of missed opportunities.
Goals at home vs West Ham, Newcastle and Arsenal in recent weeks have been promising.
Manchester United arrive in the East Midlands looking to make it six away wins on the bounce in all competitions, scoring 14 goals in the process. However, they’ve only been able to keep one clean sheet, which came in the previous round against League One side Wigan Athletic.
You have to go back to mid-December the last time Forest failed to find the back of the net at the City Ground, where they did manage to beat Man United 2-1 a couple of weeks later.
Since Forest were promoted back to the Premier League, these two sides have met five times and on three occasions over 2.5 goals have landed. Now a more established team, expect Forest to cause Man United’s backline plenty of problems.
- Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United Tip 1: Over 2.5 Goals
- Best Odds: 1.66

- Stake: 8/10
Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United Tip 2: Danish delight for visitors
One of the main reasons as to why Manchester United’s form has skyrocketed has been down to their Danish striker.
Rasmus Hojlund has scored in six competitive matches (at the time of writing) including a brace at Kenilworth Road in their recent 2-1 victory over Luton Town.
After a slow start to life in his new environment, it’s safe to say the 21-year-old has settled and must be one of the first names on the team sheet for Erik Ten Hag.
Forest did move quickly in the recent transfer market to bring in Matz Sels, with both Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos failing to impress in their debut seasons.
However, neither of the trio would worry Hojlund, and it’s not clear yet whether Santo will look to rotate his goalkeeper or not. If he does, expect Man United to fancy their chances to find the back of the net at least once.
If they do, Hojlund looks to be the perfect candidate to be on the scoresheet.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United Tip 3: Nigerian forward to fire home for hosts
Forest look a far better team when Taiwo Awoniyi is starting, and his recent return from injury has given them a much needed boost.
At the City Ground is where he excels, and since his return, he’s scored in two of the last three Premier League matches – including one vs Arsenal.
His ability to turn inside the box, using his incredible strength has seen him become one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League.
Not only can he hold the ball up well and look to create shooting opportunities, he’s a handful in the air or when running in behind. With Morgan Gibbs-White, Nico Dominguez and Danilo in behind, the Nigerian has plenty who can provide him with opportunities to score.
With Man United’s defence proving vulnerable on the road, Awoniyi may their most difficult striker to face in recent weeks, who can bully their backline and notch up his first FA Cup goal since joining the club.

A huge boost for the hosts will be the return of Ola Aina, Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangare, who are back and rested from AFCON. Sangare may have to win back his place in the starting XI after Danilo and Nico Dominguez both impressing during his absence.
Manchester United don’t have any fresh injury concerns to worry about, with Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount and Aaron Wan-Bissaka still sidelined.
