Nice vs PSG Prediction 1: Nice can claim a Ligue 1 double against the champions

One of the most memorable results of the season was when Nice went to Paris in September and inflicted PSG’s first defeat of the season. They have since gone unbeaten domestically until Toulouse claimed a 3-1 scalp at the weekend. This looks like a good spot for Nice to take what would be a brilliant Ligue 1 double vs the capital club. Les Aiglons have had two days of extra rest and are in better form. After a dodgy spring period they have rebounded by going five games unbeaten and secured at least a Europa League spot. They will finish no worse than fifth position, whatever happens. 

Nice definitely have extra motivation on their side. They know that winning their last two consecutive matches would ensure a top four finish. They have to at least draw to stay in the race, although their poorer goal difference means the win is what they really require. PSG looked hungover at the weekend after their Champions League exit. Luis Enrique is rotating his squad around a lot, and their main focus will be on the French Cup final next weekend. Taking the home team on a 0,0 Asian Handicap looks like a good option at this stage of the season. They have proven they can beat PSG already this season and they can do it again.

Nice vs PSG Prediction 2: Goals to flow between these two sides

Both sides have the best two defensive records in Ligue 1, but the goals have flowed in both meetings so far this season. Nice surprised PSG with a far more offensive gameplan in Paris when they claimed a memorable 3-2 win earlier this season. PSG gained revenge by beating them 3-1 in the French Cup. As the season has progressed, the defence of either team have proved more vulnerable. Nice are not as impermeable as they were before Christmas, and PSG have shown plenty of frailties. 

PSG have been involved in some high scoring matches in Ligue 1 recently. Teams are less afraid of them domestically, and many opponents are now trying to exploit the Parisian defence. There is often an attitude of ‘nothing to lose’ whereas in recent years teams were too afraid. PSG claimed back-to-back 4-1 wins before a 3-3 draw vs Le Havre. Toulouse exposed them at the weekend by winning 3-1 in Paris. Taking over 3 Asian goals looks like a decent bet. Both teams can contribute, and based on what we saw in the previous two head-to-head meetings, we could be in for some fireworks.

Nice vs PSG Prediction 3: Moffi to strike against PSG again

Terem Moffi scored a brace of goals and provided an assist in the reverse fixture. His pace and physical attributes caused PSG all sorts of problems. Moffi is Nice’s top scorer this season, with 11 goals in 28 appearances. He would have preferred to net more goals, and the more defensive Nice system has probably hindered his overall goalscoring production this season. 

Nice have massively underachieved in front of goal, but Moffi himself has matched his xG tally of 10.70. He is the one reliable player for them in offensive areas and looks overpriced to score against a potentially rotated and weakened PSG backline. There is far too much uncertainty backing any of the PSG players in this market due to doubts over minutes on the field. Moffi will lead the line for Nice, has previous vs the Ligue 1 champions and is likely to be on penalty duty as well.

Nice vs PSG Team News and Possible Lineups: Uncertainty over Parisian lineup

Nice are in very good health with no significant injuries. Midfielder Antoine Mendy is a slight doubt after coming off early on Friday night vs Le Havre. The PSG lineup is extremely difficult to predict. 

There was plenty of rotation at the weekend and we can probably expect the same again. The only fixture that matters now for PSG is the upcoming Coupe de France final against Lyon next weekend.
