Welcome to bettingexpert’s Nice vs Lorient prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview over in Ligue 1. Two out of form teams meet on the south coast of France where Nice hosts Lorient. After such a strong first half of the season Nice are in danger of dropping away from the European spots they crave.

Lorient, meanwhile, are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone. Ligue 1 expert Steve Wyss previews the match with his top three betting picks.

Nice vs Lorient Prediction 1: Bamba big price to score on the south coast

France, Ligue 1, Friday 19th April, 20:00 (UK)

Ivorian striker Mohamed Bamba broke a Ligue 1 record when he became the first player to score five goals in his first four consecutive games for Lorient following a move from Austrian side Wolfsberger in January. He has since scored just twice in seven games, and the goals have dried up a little bit, but he remains a significant threat as Lorient’s starting striker and could be the best value goalscorer in this match.

Terem Moffi for Nice is also worth looking at, but Bamba is double the price at 5.00 to hit the back of the net. Lorient are grossly underrated by the bookies here anyway, but these odds could be based on Nice’s strong defensive record over the whole season. Things have changed in that department, with only two clean sheets in eight games. Bamba will get some chances here, and if he performs like he did when he first joined the club, then he looks a huge price to score.

  • Nice vs Lorient  Prediction 1: Mohamed Bamba to Score Anytime (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 5.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 3/10

Nice vs Lorient Prediction 2: Lorient can get a result against struggling Nice

It doesn’t look right that Lorient are getting a full-goal head start here at the Allianz Riviera. These odds must be based on the current league position because, in terms of recent form and performances, there is not such a big gap between the two sides. Nice didn’t lose a match until December 2nd this season, but since then the wheels have fallen off. Since the start of February, they have won just one match in nine attempts, and their once-solid defence has become far more porous.

Some might look at this match vs Lorient as a chance to get back to winning ways, but I suspect it will be a tricky test. Lorient are fighting for their lives down at the bottom of the table and been a much-improved outfit since the turn of the year and a successful January transfer market in which they bolstered the squad. Recent results have taken a slight nosedive, but they’ve only lost one of their last five away games and picked up three wins during that run. Their style and the type of players they have are more suited to playing on the road.

Taking Lorient on a +1 Asian Handicap looks like a safe sort of pick. There’s a good chance they can get at least a draw here, and even if they lost by one goal, we would get a full refund. Nice are nowhere near the level they were in the first half of the campaign and have become a very opposable side.

  • Nice vs Lorient  Prediction 2: Lorient +1 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.95
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Nice vs Lorient Prediction 3: Nice defense is not as reliable as it once was

To get a BTTS yes price at odds-against at this stage of the season just seems plain wrong. We are at a desperate time of year when teams need results and might have to take more risks. This is also the stage where defences are often tired and can be taken advantage of. Before Christmas, Nice games were a banker for Unders and BTTS – No, but things have dramatically changed. Les Aiglons have conceded 11 goals in 8 games and registered just one clean sheet. There is a presumption that Lorient won’t score here, but they must fancy their chances of netting looking at those stats.

Lorient have scored nine goals in their last five away games, with the only blank coming last time out versus Montpellier. The Brittany outfit have kept just three clean sheets all season, and conceding goals has been a massive problem. Nice should not have a problem scoring against them, either. I expected these odds to be about 1.75, so to get 2.05 seems like significant value. The lay of the land has changed for Nice, and I can only presume this has been priced up on reputation.

  • Nice vs Lorient  Prediction 3: BTTS – Yes (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.05
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10
