Despite a tricky start to the campaign, Napoli have only got three points less in the table compared to last season, and a win on Sunday would officially put them back on track in the challenge for the Scudetto.

The team that won 28 games in Serie A last season has never gone away, although they’ve discovered themselves much more fragile at the back. New Brazilian centre-back Natan played really well against Real. Can he now establish himself in Serie A?
Fiorentina have never scored so many goals (15) after seven Serie A games since 1993/1994. However, that campaign they were playing in Serie B. La Viola has become much more clinical: they’re taking fewer shots per game compared to last season (10.6 vs 15.8 in 2022/2023, in Serie A) but have doubled their goal tally.
Mbala Nzola scored his first goal for Fiorentina against Cagliari, but Vincenzo Italiano has many players he can rotate up front. In fact, the former Spezia manager has never kept the same starting XI in all the 113 games he’s been in charge of Fiorentina: his team is flamboyant, a touch naive, and highly unpredictable.

Undoubtedly, both sides’ Achilles’ heel is that they concede chances: the visitors are often playing with a very high line but leave their centre-backs to defend 1v1, whereas Napoli hasn’t got a centre-back who can read the game as well as Kim Min-jae.
Both teams also have to deal with the absences of important defenders such as Amir Rahmani, Juan Jesus, Yerri Mina, Cristiano Birgahi and Dodò.
Piotr Zieliński Over 0.5 Shots on Target

The Polish midfielder has been Napoli’s best player so far: Zieliński played a majestic game against Real Madrid and looks like the new leader of the team.
In the summer he was on the verge of joining the Saudi League but the move did not materialise and this has perhaps given Zieliński a greater belief in himself.
He’s now Napoli’s penalty taker (scored two out of two, against Udinese and in the Champions League), and has added even more tricks to his game: big switches of play, bursts of peace, great vision, and, of course, shots.
Zieliński can find the target with both feet: he has taken four shots in two Champions League games (two on target), and another four in Serie A. He has scored two goals against Fiorentina in his career, including in the 6-0 Napoli win in 2020.
Last season he scored three goals for Napoli in Serie A, and in his eight seasons with the Partenopei he averaged over 0.70 shots on target x game.
