Monaco vs Le Havre Prediction: Tips and Best Bets Preview
The Sunday lunchtime kick off in Ligue 1 is Monaco vs Le Havre and we have the prediction, tips and best bets preview brought to you by French expert Steve Wyss. For a large part of the season it looked like Monaco would be the biggest challenger to PSG but they have dropped down to fourth position after a mixed spell of results.
Promoted side Le Havre have equipped themselves well at Ligue 1 level and sit comfortably in midtable. They will fancy their chances of springing a surprise on the Mediterranean coast.

Monaco vs Le Havre Tip 1: Clean sheet unlikely for either team
France, Ligue 1, Sunday 4th February, 12:00 (UK)
BTTS – Yes stands out as a big price at 1.80 the way both teams have been playing of late. The only reason why I think this is such a hefty price is because there is perhaps an expectation that Monaco will win to nil and that Le Havre is a defensive-minded team.
The visitors have had 11 out of 19 games go over 2.5 goals and have been surprisingly competitive in attack this season. Le Havre are dangerous on the break and showed last week during the 3-3 draw vs Lorient that they have offensive capabilities.
Monaco are missing several players to international duty and have two defensive suspensions in the form of Zakaria and Maripan. The opportunity is there for Le Havre to net at least one goal. Monaco themselves have scored in all home games bar one, which was a strange 0-1 defeat to Lyon.
They shouldn’t have a problem scoring at least one goal vs a promoted team. Folarin Balogun is doubtful with a shoulder injury but should be fit enough to play this game. This match is underrated offensively, so BTTS – Yes, at 1.80, needs to be snapped up.
- Monaco vs Le Havre Tip 1: BTTS – Yes (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80

- Stake: 10/10
Monaco vs Le Havre Tip 2: Goals to flow in the principality
Both sides rank in the top five for over 2.5 goals matches this season, and this goal line looks low considering the stats. Monaco are a clear favourite so there is almost an expectation that they win this match 1-0 or 2-0. The south coast side has looked all over the place since mid-December, though.
Their defence has appeared leaky and unreliable, and they’ve conceded far too many goals, nine in their last five games in all competitions. Monaco doesn’t have a problem scoring goals, and only PSG has netted more than them this season, but it feels like they have to win shootouts to get victories at the moment.
Le Havre are underrated as an offensive team. It took them some time to find their feet at Ligue 1 level but they have scored three goals in 3 of their last four games. That includes a 3-1 victory over Nice and a wild 3-3 draw vs Lorient last week.
Both Emmanuel Sabbi and Andre Ayew have found some form recently, and they could be very dangerous on the counterattack at Le Stade Louis II. They can very much contribute towards a 2.75 goal line, and I love taking the ‘Overs’ here. Even if Le Havre did have a shocking match, then Monaco could potentially cover this goal line on their own anyway.
- Monaco vs Le Havre Tip 2: Over 2.75 Goals (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.98
- Bookmaker: bet 365
- Stake: 10/10
Monaco vs Le Havre Tip 3: Norman invasion underrated on the south coast
Monaco are priced as short as 1.47 in places just to win outright, which feels quite short. I think they are only this price based on reputation. If we delve deeper, this will not be a straightforward victory for the Principality side. They have injuries, and players are away on international duty, which should have a negative effect.
Their home form has become questionable after successive defeats in front of their own fans vs Lyon and Reims. The last time Monaco were truly convincing was in early autumn, and they have only won one of their last eight league games by more than a single-goal margin.
That’s why the idea of taking Le Havre on a +1 Asian handicap has plenty of appeal. The visitors have only lost three times on the road all season and only lost three league games by more than a one-goal margin. Those losses were vs PSG, Lille and Marseille, so we shouldn’t hold it too much against them.
Le Havre are a tricky side to get a result against right now and will play hard right until the final whistle. If Monaco does get over the line, it will likely be a close margin of victory. Taking Le Havre on a +1 Asian line offers a full push in case of a one-goal defeat, but there’s every chance they can obtain at least a point.
- Monaco vs Le Havre Tip 3: Le Havre +1 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.03
- Bookmaker: Bet365
- Stake: 8/10

Monaco vs Le Havre Team News Preview: Double suspension for Monaco
Both Guillermo Maripan and Denis Zakaria are suspended for Monaco after their red cards last week. Krepin Diatta could return after AFCON duty, but the likes of Minamino, Singo and Mohammed Camara are still on international duty.
Striker Folarin Balogun is doubtful with a shoulder injury. Le Havre have Mohammed Bayo and Abdoulaye Toure on international duty for Le Havre with centre back Yoann Salmier doubtful with injury.
