Marseille vs Nice Prediction 1: Scheduling gives Nice the edge to pick up at least a point
France, Ligue 1, Wednesday 24th April, 20:00 (UK)
Marseille needed a late Faris Moumbagna wonder strike to earn a 2-2 draw vs Toulouse on Sunday. It was probably a deserved draw for OM and ended their three-game losing streak in Ligue 1, but their domestic form has been pretty awful since the turn of the year. Marseille have only won three league games since 17th December with all three victories vs sides in the bottom six positions.
With a massive Europa League semi-final upcoming vs Atalanta, the home team could be forgiven if they took their eye off the ball domestically. This could be a good chance for Nice to strike. Their form has not been particularly good, but they did beat Lorient 3-0 on Friday night, which they can use to re-start some positive momentum. Nice have had two extra days to recover and prepare, so backing the visitors on a +0.25 Asian handicap makes some sense. They can at least avoid defeat against an OM side who are in a difficult scheduling spot.
- Marseille vs Nice Prediction 1: Nice +0.25 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.99

- Stake: 6/10
Marseille vs Nice Prediction 2: Moffi to cause Marseille problems
The best value goalscorer price of the reliable players in this match looks to be Nice striker Terem Moffi. He has failed to score in his last two games but bagged a brace of goals vs Nice away from home and also scored against Nantes. Moffi has a decent scoring record on the road as an underdog and this could be the type of match where he gets more space in behind the defence.
A lot of opponents ended up giving Nice a lot more respect due to their excellent form in the first half of the season. This has led to Les Aiglons facing more compact defenses, and one of their weaknesses has been breaking down teams with a low block. However, away from home as an outsider here should suit them perfectly. Moffi can take advantage of an OM side that could take a more risky approach. The odds of 3.40 look big for the main starting striker, who is also likely to be on penalty duty. I think Nice can score multiple goals, and if that happens, then Moffi must be a prime contender to hit the back of the net.
- Marseille vs Nice Prediction 2: Terem Moffi to score anytime (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 3.40
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 3/10
Marseille vs Nice Prediction 3: Neither defense is convincing right now
Marseille have kept just three clean sheets in their last 19 matches in all competitions and this is not a backline, which can be relied upon. They have been riddled with injuries and suspensions recently, which hasn’t helped their rhythm at the back. Jean-Louis Gasset’s men have been unsettled, which has led to mistakes and errors. Nice must fancy their chances of scoring multiple goals, and BTTS – Yes doesn’t look a bad bet at odds of 1.80.
The biggest concern here might be if Marseille can actually get on the scoresheet. But they are in a position where they might as well swing to get the victory. A draw doesn’t serve them much purpose, so I can’t see OM settling for a 0-0. Nice have kept consecutive clean sheets vs Reims and Lorient, but prior to that they had conceded 15 goals in nine games. Their xG metrics have been impressive in the last two games, but they conceded nearly 20 shots in those fixtures. Facing a higher-quality OM side away from home, I think it’s going to be tough to shut out their opponents completely. BTTS is often overpriced in Nice games because of their reputation, and the same might happen again here.
- Marseille vs Nice Prediction 3: BTTS – Yes (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 5/10
