Lyon vs PSG Prediction 1: Feast of goals expected in Stade Pierre-Mauroy showpiece final
France, Coupe de France final, Saturday 25th May, 20:00 (UK)
Cup finals can sometimes be tight, but this doesn’t have the feel to be a low-scoring game. We have two of the biggest teams in French football meeting each other who will be hell-bent on beating the other. Lyon have had a remarkable surge under the management of Pierre Sage who has turned them from a serious relegation candidate to eventually qualifying for momentum. Les Gones are guaranteed at least a Conference League berth next season, but that could be improved to a Europa League spot should they win this French Cup final. Lyon last won this competition in 2012 and know they are going to have to lean on their attack to get the job done here.
Lyon has been involved in a lot of high-scoring matches recently. All of their last 12 matches have contained at least two goals, with nine of those affairs going over 2.5. Half of those fixtures actually contained over 3.5 goals, both scoring and conceding plenty. A few weeks ago, they lost 4-1 vs PSG in the league and they now face a plethora of attacking weapons. Even if Lyon does adopt a more defensive approach, it will still be very difficult to resist PSG. I could see this match becoming a potential shootout, so taking over 3 Asian Goals looks like a decent option with a full push should exactly three goals be scored.
- Lyon vs PSG Prediction 1: Over 3 Asian Goals (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.02

- Stake: 9/10
Lyon vs PSG Prediction 2: Lyon captain huge price to maintain scoring form
The Lyon captain bagged a brace of goals on the final day of the season to take his Ligue 1 tally up to 19 for the season, where only Kylian Mbappe finished ahead of him. He is a reliable goalscorer and looks a massive price at 3.40 to score in this final. You cannot deny his pedigree down the years, but his recent form is also highly impressive. Alexandre Lacazette rounded off the season by scoring nine goals in his last ten appearances, so he’s certainly a form horse heading into this final.
The only reason that Lacazette is such a big price to score is because Lyon are a significant outsider. They are a +1 Asian Handicap underdog, but that doesn’t mean they won’t carry a scoring threat. He missed the first fixture between the two sides earlier this season and only played 68 mins a few weeks ago. Lyon’s captain and talisman will be desperate to make his mark, and let’s not forget that he will definitely be on penalty duty. At the current odds, he is definitely worth a punt to hit the back of the net.
- Lyon vs PSG Prediction 2: Alexandre Lacazette to Score Anytime (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 3.40
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 4/10
Lyon vs PSG Prediction 3: Mbappé to go out with a bang
The end of the road is close for Kylian Mbappé in his PSG career. This will be his last game for the club before he leaves in the summer. He scored in his last match at the Parc des Princes, and he will be desperate to sign off with another goal here in the Coupe de France final. He is sure to get ample opportunity to hit the back of the net and will be on penalty duty. Mbappé has a fantastic record against Lyon in his career, with 13 goals in 15 appearances. He’s only scored more times against Montpellier than any other club.
Kylian Mbappé will be one of the most popular bets in this match to score anytime, and for good reason. He led the Ligue 1 scoring charts with 27 goals in just 29 appearances. His record in the French cup this season is exceptional with 8 goals in 5 games. It is never the greatest feeling to back a player at odds-on to score anytime, but a price of 1.83 feels perfectly acceptable for perhaps the best player in the world. Make sure to tick the ‘void if he doesn’t start’ box in case Luis Enrique makes a statement.
- Lyon vs PSG Prediction 3: Kylian Mbappé to Score Anytime(TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10

Lyon vs PSG Team News and Possible Lineups: Could Mbappé& Dembele get left out of the side?
Lyon should be at full strength with no injuries or suspensions. PSG will be without Lucas Hernandez, who recently underwent ACL surgery. There is some doubt over the participation of Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappé. Both have been ‘rested’ by the manager recently, and there have been some suggestions that he will bench both for this cup final. With a trophy on the line, though, surely Luis Enrique goes with his strongest possible XI.
Lyon possible starting lineup:
Lopes, Tagliafico, Caleta-Car, O’Brien, Clinton-Mata, Tolisso, Matic, Caqueret, Benrahma, Lacazette, Cherki
PSG possible starting lineup:
Donnarumma, Mendes, Beraldo, Marquinhos, Hakimi, Ruiz, Vitinha, Zaire-Emery, Mbappe, Ramos, Dembele
