Who will conquer Ligue 1 in the 2021/22 season? Will PSG reclaim their crown or will Lille defend their title? The start of the season is not far ahead, so let’s take a look at each team’s chances of going all the way and becoming Ligue 1 champions.

Ligue 1 Winner Odds 2022
The Ligue 1 winner odds market accounts for each team’s chances of finishing atop the league standings. The bookmakers take into account how the team performed in recent years, as well as their transfer period acquisitions, to give the most realistic representation of each team’s chances.
The Ligue 1 outright winner odds are available long before the season starts, whilst the transfer period is underway. The Ligue 1 odds usually change depending on how the season unfolds, making this a very dynamic market.
Bettors will usually avoid placing just one single bet and leaving the market until the season ends. Combining the outright winner market along with the ‘top 4’ and ‘top 10’ markets can be an excellent way to find value. Also, finding multiple combinations in these markets can increase one’s chances of being profitable.

The Favorites
- PSG Ligue 1 Winner Odds: 1.25 (888sport)
PSG have been the Ligue 1 champions nine times in the club’s history, and seven of those championships have come in the recent 10 years. They have been dominant in their domestic league, and their Ligue 1 winner odds reflect their recent success. But, PSG failed to finish at the top in the 2020/2021 season and were bested by Lille by a single point. Although they had a very good season, something was off and the team never looked motivated to go all the way. They will be looking to make a comeback to the top this coming season, and their Ligue 1 outright winner odds have them as the clear favorites to make it happen. The transfer period will allow them to fill their ranks and rally after a difficult end to the season, but they still have a lot of work ahead. Lyon, Lille, and Monaco are seen s their top competition, but if you ask manager Pochettino, he’ll say he likes their odds to win Ligue 1.
The Contenders
- Lyon Ligue 1 Winner Odds: 13.0 (Paddy Power)
- Lille Ligue 1 Winner Odds: 21.0 (Unibet)
- Monaco Ligue 1 Winner Odds: 21.0 (Unibet)
Lyon’s Ligue 1 outright winner odds have them as the chief contenders to challenge PSG in the 2021/2022 season. The club has seven Ligue 1 titles to its name, but the last time they were French champions was back in the 2007/2008 season. Last season was solid for them, finishing fourth in the league rankings, but it was obvious that something was missing. The team’s defensive effort was lacking, and they conceded an average of 1.21 goals in all home matches and 1.05 in away fixtures. This summer will be crucial for their squad, and reinforcements in their defensive line would be most welcome. The bookmakers have Lyon to finish in second place at 2.30 odds.
Lille increased their collection of Ligue 1 trophies to five last season after a 10-year break. Lille performed very well throughout the season, only losing three matches all year. Their defense was solid all season long, only conceding 0.61 goals on average, making up for any offensive hiccups. One would expect their Ligue 1 winner odds to reflect their recent success, but Lille are only the third team in line to win the title in the coming year. They will be looking to defend their title in the coming season and prove that their success last season wasn’t a fluke. The bookies have Lille to finish in second place at 3.50 odds.
After a championship 2016/2017 season, Monaco struggled greatly in Ligue 1 and finished the 2018/2019 season in 17th place in the standings. That said, Monaco slowly regained their form and climbed back to the top four, finishing last season in third place. Monaco won the league a total of eight times, and the bookies have them as fourth in line to get the job done. They are also valued at 5.00 odds to finish second, which seems like a more realistic bet considering the team’s defense conceded an average of 1.11 goals in all matches last year.
The Outside Chances
- Marseille Ligue 1 winner Odds: 34.0 (bet365)
- Rennes Ligue 1 winner Odds: 101.0 (Unibet)
- Nice Ligue 1 winner Odds: 101.0 (Betway)
Marseille share first place in Ligue 1 with Saint-Etienne for the highest number of titles in the league’s history with 10 each. Marseille won their most recent title in 2010 under Didier Deschamps but came in second three times since. Their outright Ligue 1 winner odds have them as the fifth favorite to win the league, but they will have to make a significant jump from last year’s performance. Marseille finished the 2020/2021 season fifth in the Ligue 1 rankings, but their performance was worse than the table suggests. They lost 10 matches on the season and were 23 points behind first-placed Lille. Marseille scored an average of just 1.16 and conceded 1.26 goals in away matches – hardly championship material. Their odds to win Ligue 1 are quite short considering their past performances.
Rennes have never been the Ligue 1 champions, nor have they been the runners-up, and their best finish in the club’s history was third place in the 2019/2020 season. They finished the last two seasons in sixth place in the standings, and their performance has left a lot to be desired. In fact, Rennes scored an average of 1.37 and conceded 1.05 goals per match, leaving lots of room for improvement. Their chances of winning the league are low, but the bookies have them finishing second at 21.00 odds.
Nice have won a total of four league titles, but all of them have come in the 50s. Their most recent solid season had them finishing third in the 2016/2017 season. Nice finished in ninth place in the last two seasons, and their performance last year was nothing to write home about. The team averaged 1.32 goals scored and 1.39 conceded per match, and they will need a major overhaul if they hope to contend for the title in the near future. Their outright Ligue 1 winner odds are very high, and the bookies have them finishing second at 21.00 odds.
