Leicester vs West Ham Bet Builder Tips: Sunday, May 28th

The final round of English Premier League fixtures is upon us and we’ve got Leicester vs West Ham bet builder tips for their clash this Sunday, May 28th.

It’s a must win for the home side as they host the Europa Conference League finalists. Claiming all three points may still not prove to be enough. Foxes fans will be equally focussed on the action at Goodison Park and not just that unfolding in front of them.

Leicester vs West Ham Preview

England, Premier League, Sunday, May 28th, 16:30 (UK)

It’s the final day of the season and the relegation permutation is simple for Leicester. They need to beat West Ham and hope Everton drop points at home to Bournemouth.

The relegation battle has been enthralling for much of the season with just a few short weeks ago as many as nine clubs in genuine fear of slipping through the trapdoor. With Southampton the first to know they will be plying their trade in the Championship next season we are left with any two from three.

Following back to back defeats shipping eight goals in the process, Dean Smith was able to keep his side in the fight with a backs to the wall goalless draw away to Newcastle. The Monday night stalemate saw a first clean sheet since the World Cup and moved them above Leeds into 18th.

The former Norwich manager who was unable to keep the Canaries in the top flight last season took severe criticism for his defensive approach to the game. A win at St James’ Park would have meant the Foxes going into the final game in control of their own fate.

The Midlands side managed their first and only shot of the contest in the 92nd minute. However, the interim manager made no apologies for the way his side played. Choosing instead to praise their ‘disciplined’ defensive performance. Stating the plan was to take the battle for survival to the last game and make Everton need to win.

Despite an underwhelming domestic campaign, West Ham could still end the season with glory. A Europa Conference League final is on the horizon and the Hammers are marginal favourites to beat Fiorentina and lift the trophy in Prague.

However, if Leicester are anticipating distracted visitors to the King Power they were served a warning last weekend. The Hammers hosted the other side in the three-way relegation battle in their final home outing of the campaign.

David Moyes praised his slide’s mentality in recording a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Leeds. Declan Rice netted the equaliser in what was likely his last appearance in a West Ham shirt at the London Stadium.

Leicester vs West Ham Stats & Facts

  • Leicester have won their final league game in just one of the last seven seasons (D3 L3), though it was a 4-1 victory at home to Southampton last term.
  • West Ham have lost their final league game in just one of the last six seasons (W4 D1), though it was a 3-1 loss away to Brighton last term.
  • Leicester striker Jamie Vardy has scored seven goals in eight final day appearances in the Premier League – among current Premier League players, only Harry Kane (9) has scored more such goals than Vardy.
  • West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen has had a hand in five goals in his five Premier League games against Leicester (3 goals, 2 assists), his most goal involvements against a single top-flight opponent.

Failure to win will see Leicester relegated from the Premier League, just seven years after winning the league title under Claudio Ranieri. They would be only the second side to be relegated from the division after winning it. Blackburn the only other after being crowned champions in 1994-95 before suffering relegation in 1998-99 and 2011-12.

After his ultra-cautious approach at Newcastle, Dean Smith will need to strike a better balance in this do-or-die encounter. The first goal will clearly be crucial and his side will want to keep their fans believing by making a strong start.

Leicester certainly have the firepower to cause the visitors plenty of defensive headaches. A squad containing the likes of James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka and Jamie Vardy would be the envy of many in the English top flight.

Until blanks against Liverpool and Newcastle, the Foxes had scored in each of Smith’s five games in charge. Registering a higher xG in all of those fixtures including away at champions Manchester City. Their total of 49 league goals this term is the most of any side in the bottom half of the table. Matching the amount 7th placed Aston Villa have scored.

It is at the other of the pitch end where the problems have been. The shut out at Newcastle was a first in 22 Premier League games. However, as much as their interim boss praised the defensive performance they needed a huge helping hand to record that first post-World Cup clean sheet. Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron and Bruno Guimaraes all hit the woodwork. With Eddie Howe’s men piling up an xG of 2.05.

Five of the seven games since Brendan Rodgers left the club has seen both teams score. There is also a history of goals when these two meet. Seven of the last nine head-to-heads have seen both teams on the scoresheet including the 2-2 draw in this fixture last season.

To take the odds for this bet builder to 2.50 I am adding a player prop involving Lucas Paqueta. The Brazilian hasn’t quite lived up to the incredible heights he showed in Lyon. But as is often the case seems now to be coming to terms with the requirements to excel in the English top flight.

The 25-Year-Old has contributed four goals and three assists across 27 league appearances for the Hammers. However it is his incredible tackle data that really stands out.

His 70 tackles in the top tier is only bettered by Tomás Soucek (77) and Declan Rice (79) but both have featured in nine more league games. So Paqueta’s average of 2.6 per game is the highest at the club. It also ranks him in the top 10 across the entire division.

What really catches the eye is that 40 of those tackles have come in his last 10 league appearances for the Irons. Winning at least two in nine of those outings and also registering four in the reverse fixture in November.

  • Yes on Both Teams to Score
  • Lucas Paqueta 2+ Tackles

Bet Builder odds: 2.50 (TRACKED BET)

  • Stakes: 8/10

What is a Bet Builder?

What is a bet builder? A bet builder is a special kind of accumulator bet where the selections revolve around one game. A typical acca features single selections on multiple games combined in one bet slip. If one selection goes wrong, the whole bet goes south. A bet builder works in very much the same way but all of the selections are placed on one match. If one of the selections doesn’t play out correctly, your bet is lost even if the other selections come through. These selections range from things like match outcome to the number of goals, corners and cards.
