Selection 1: Colchester United vs Carlisle United Best Bet
The billing
With Oldham threatening resurgence, these two sides could be looking over their shoulders.
Hosts’ form
Colchester have found their battling spirit under Wayne Brown, who has overseen a welcome return of eight points from five games to haul the Essex club five points above the drop zone.
The U’s, though, were unable to continue their Brown renaissance at Mansfield in midweek, looking jumbled at the back and outnumbered in midfield in a 2-1 defeat.
Visitors’ form
A run of four straight defeats has plundered Carlisle straight back into trouble.
The obvious defence of the Cumbrians would be that all those losses have come against top-10 opposition, including a trip to leaders Forest Green that almost nobody in this division comes away unscathed.
Those mitigating factors will seem hollow, though, if Keith Millen’s troops get a bad result against their relegation rivals.
The Tactics Board
Omari Patrick can be Carlisle’s get-out card in the second half of the season. The returning wide man is strong and about as quick as one would imagine the godson of former Olympic sprinter Linford Christie to be.
As such, when one possesses an individual capable of charging 50-yards with the ball and whacking one into the top corner, collective imperfections become that little bit easier to mask.
That’s what Carlisle will be hoping Patrick can do for Millen’s side, but similarly, Owura Edwards – on loan from Bristol City – can bring similar direct qualities to Colchester’s wide play.
Prediction & Best Bet
Omari Patrick is 4.33 to find the net anytime, which is great value for a player who has scored two goals in seven since returning to Cumbria and averages 1.6 shots per game.

Selection 2: Leyton Orient vs Salford City Best Bet
The billing
Despite expectation, only an extraordinary turnaround would see these two 2018-19 National League promotion-winners secure a top-seven berth.
Hosts’ form
A run of two points from eight games has seen Leyton Orient go from being a prime contender for the play-offs to being resigned to another season in League Two.
Kenny Jackett claims absentees, and the subsequent lack of experience and know-how in his side, to be the primary factor behind the drop-off.
With defender George Ray, full-backs Tom James and Connor Wood, ball-winner Craig Clay, ball-carriers Theo Archibald and Paul Smyth plus target man Harry Smith all missing from the match-day squad that lost 1-0 at Exeter, it’s easy to see why.
Visitors’ form
Sitting six points off the Play-Offs, Salford do not have much to lose: after all, what’s really the difference between finishing 10th and 14th?
Despite this, though, there has been a lack of attacking ambition from the Ammies, who mustered just nine efforts at goal and one on target in a 0-0 draw at Salford last time out.
Ok, Gary Bowyer’s side have taken a point away to the team currently sitting 4th – hardly a damning result – but it doesn’t really do anything for their top seven prospects. Why not push the envelope more?
The Tactics Board
Bowyer waited as late as the 80th minute to make an unforced alteration in midweek and gave forward Conor McAleny just four minutes to try to make an impact at Gander Green Lane, so conservatism still rules for Salford – despite them being in a position of having little to lose.
In fact, sides have conceded fewer goals than the number of games they have played, so if both miss out, it won’t be because of troubles at the rear-end.
Prediction & Best Bet
Under 2.5 goals can be backed at 1.62, which would make a lot of sense given the outlook of both managers.

Selection 3: Port Vale vs Northampton Town Best Bet
The billing
Beat Northampton and Port Vale could still be considered to have a horse in the automatic promotion race, but Jon Brady’s Cobblers are out to kill off hope for the chasing pack…
Hosts’ form
A busy January, combined with a healthy return of seven points from three games, has re-invigorated Vale’s promotion aspirations.
Darrell Clarke has had to show plenty of tactical flexibility too, most recently deploying Brad Walker in the middle of his back-three in a 3-1 victory at Carlisle.
Walker had initially been recruited as a successor to the released Luke Joyce, but found midfield starts hard to come by due to the form of Tom Conlon, Tom Pett and Ben Garrity.
After playing so well in central defence, though, the former Notts County man has an opportunity to nail down a regular berth.
Visitors’ form
Northampton have been League Two’s 1-0 specialists this term, attaining seven of their 15 victories by that scoreline, with the solitary strike often coming via a set piece.
In open play, Teyn tend to lean on the left-foot of Mitch Pinnock, but are hopeful January recruits Louis Appéré, Bez Lubala and Idris Kanu can offer them alternative threats.
The Tactics Board
The bulk of the intensity in this match may come from Vale, who have a driven boss in Clarke, while Northampton will look to play to their defensive strengths.
Star centre-backs Fraser Horsfall and Jon Guthrie now have further support in Blackburn loanee Tyler Magloire, with the trio protected effectively by Jack Sowerby and Shaun McWilliams.
Prediction & Best Bet
The psychology of the match is that Vale are chasing down the victory, which they are 2.20 to attain, whereas Northampton may be more inclined to try to protect something, having been efficient if unconvincing for much of the campaign. The hosts have more to gain, which could really come into play here.

What is an EFL Acca?
An EFL Acca is a type of betting that involves combining several selections across different matches with one single stake. An acca or accumulator usually has at least four selections but it can include many many more. An EFL acca is one such bet that only involves matches from the EFL or English Football League, the second to the fourth tiers of English football. The benefits of an EFL acca are that the odds can be massive with a very small stake as the odds for all selections are multiplied together. Every pick needs to win or your EFL acca will lose.
