Selection 1: Cambridge vs Burton Best Bet
The billing
Two of the division’s overachievers seek to tick off the 50 points they require to secure their League One status, in a clash that will spark memories of 2015’s title-clincher for the visitors…
Hosts’ form
Back-to-back defeats to Bolton and Gillingham mean Cambridge still have some work to do to retain their divisional status, though as things are it’s not in much doubt.
It is proving a challenge, though, for Mark Bonner to find a formula to keep the points ticking over in the absence of key striker Joe Ironside.
Visitors’ form
Talking of strikers, Burton must hope Gassan Ahadme can start to produce the form he hinted at with Portsmouth in pre-season, before struggling to convert those standards into the league – but the Norwich loanee did score a belter at Fratton Park for the Brewers in midweek, albeit in defeat.
Ahadme, in many ways, epitomizes a Burton squad that has many players still working their way back to full fitness, scrambling for form and trying to fit in tactically: it doesn’t bode brilliantly for the remainder, but thanks to the three straight wins they started the season with, survival remains highly likely.
The Tactics Board
Burton are missing an experienced, powerful enforcer with more mobility than Michael Mancienne, so there is every chance Cambridge could shade the midfield if destroyer Paul Digby, dynamo Adam May and, perhaps, instinctive technician Ben Worman can produce their best.
Then again, neither side have an obvious focal point, which could make it difficult for either to make waves in the final third.
Prediction & Best Bet
Under 2.5 goals can be backed at 1.85, which looks the value play here.
Selection 2: Lincoln City v Wycombe Wanderers Best Bet
The billing
Gareth Ainsworth was a popular player at Lincoln, twice winning Player of the Season under John Beck in the ‘90s – now, he returns to Sincil Bank hoping to make more memories, but as manager of promotion-chasing Wycombe…
Hosts’ form
2022 has gone reasonably well for Lincoln, who have won four of their seven league games, although the relegation strugglers have lost the other three.
Michael Appleton’s side got the right result last time out, beating Morecambe 2-1, and are hopeful of a convincing second half of the campaign to inspire hope of another season like 2020-21.
Visitors’ form
Wycombe were held to a goalless draw by Shrewsbury last time out, but Ainsworth’s troops had battered the door down and could not have done much more to turn one point into three.
The balance of this Chairboys side looks strong, especially with full-backs by trade in Jack Grimmer and Joe Jacobson flanking the emerging defensive talents of Chris Forino Joseph.
In attack, meanwhile, Sam Vokes, Brandon Hanlan and Garath McCleary complement one another’s strengths, while Lewis Wing has added energy and dynamism in midfield.
The Tactics Board
Lincoln will be hoping Wanderers wing-back Jordan Obita pushes so high up, that Jacobson ends up having too much space to defend against. The veteran would struggle to come to terms with any footrace with Morgan Whittaker, who may sense an opportunity.
Prediction & Best Bet
Whittaker is a whopping 3.60 to score anytime on Saturday, which looks decent value given the possibilities for how the game could open up for him.
Selection 3: Portsmouth vs Doncaster Best Bet
The billing
It may only be February, but Portsmouth and Doncaster are both approaching last chance saloon, in terms of achieving their ambitions this season.
Hosts’ form
After starting 2022 with a paltry two points from six games, Pompey simply had to beat Burton to stay anywhere near the Play-Off conversation: goals from Sean Raggett and Michael Jacobs meant they did just that, 2-1.
Jacobs has put together a few decent performances, after looking back to his creative best in the 3-2 loss at Oxford, where Danny Cowley’s side battled bravely but in vain with 10-men.
Visitors’ form
Doncaster’s return of three wins in the 12 that Gary McSheffrey has taken charge of is not great, seeing as there have been no draws in that sequence, and not enough to inspire serious hopes of survival.
It is worth bearing in mind, though, that a whopping eight of those fixtures have come against top-nine opposition, and the mood and spirit around the club have been lifted under the current incumbent, who looks destined to lead Donny into League Two.
The Tactics Board
Portsmouth are one of the strongest pressing sides in League One and, if they execute that side of their game as well as they are capable, they stand a strong chance of overwhelming a Doncaster side yet to establish a clear playing identity.
Prediction & Best Bet
The Portsea Islanders have kept 13 clean sheets this season, while their visitors have failed to find the net in 15 league games, so the favourites can be backed at odds-on via the win to nil option at 2.20.

What is an EFL Acca?
An EFL Acca is a type of betting that involves combining several selections across different matches with one single stake. An acca or accumulator usually has at least four selections but it can include many many more. An EFL acca is one such bet that only involves matches from the EFL or English Football League, the second to the fourth tiers of English football. The benefits of an EFL acca are that the odds can be massive with a very small stake as the odds for all selections are multiplied together. Every pick needs to win or your EFL acca will lose.
