Italy finished atop Group A with three victories. They played very well in the group stage and were never on the back foot. They cruised to victory against Turkey and Switzerland in their first two, with 3:0 in both matches. We already saw in this tournament how Austria fare against opponents who play like Italy. They faced the Netherlands in the group stage and were unable to defend properly. They conceded twice, and Italy’s offense has performed very well in this tournament. In fact, against a tough Wales defense, Italy attempted 23 shots. Granted, only six were on target, but credit Wales on that one. Italy scored three goals in matches against Switzerland and Turkey, and we will likely see them doing it again.
