Internacional vs Corinthians Prediction 1: “Hosts” to stand firm
Brazil, Brasileirão, Thursday, June 12th, 01:30 (UK)
Internacional were one of the three teams impacted by the horrific flooding in the south of Brazil. Tipped up by yours truly to finish in the top six at the start of the campaign, their chances have taken a knock due to the complications around their fixture schedule.
However, three hours up the coast Internacional have found a new temporary home, which saw almost 18,000 Internacional fans fill the stadium in their 0-0 draw vs Sao Paulo.
Their home advantage hasn’t completely gone, which is a huge bonus for the club. A 2-1 defeat against Vitoria was their first in their last five matches, and the first time they have conceded in five matches, too.
Sadly striker Rafael Borre is representing Colombia at Copa America, one of my outside golden boot picks, which is why I’m hesitant to back the “hosts” to win. Still, regarded as a strong side which has adapted to their new surroundings, they’ve also won the corner battle in their last five matches.
Corinthians arrive having picked up one point from their four away games, conceding seven in the process. To make matters worse, their no.1 goalkeeper, Carlos Miguel, looks set to leave the club this week.
- Internacional vs Corinthians Prediction 1: Internacional Double Chance & Most Corners
- Best Odds: 2.00

Internacional vs Corinthians Prediction 2: Missing players creates gaps
Rafael Borre isn’t the only missing player ahead of this fixture. Internacional’s number one goalkeeper Sergio Rochet is in the US to represent Uruguay at the Copa America, and 38-year-old Fabricio Santana has stepped in to fill the void.
Inter have also announced over the weekend the sale of winger Mauricio to Palmeiras, who is another absent for the home side.
However, Corinthians are also missing centre-back Caetano after his red card against Sao Paulo at the weekend.
With a few holes here and there for both sides, the odds-against price for both teams to score looks more appealing than others might suggest.
Yuri Alberto has found his rhythm for the visitors this campaign, scoring both goals in the recent 2-2 draw vs Atletico-GO on the road. That’s now 14 goals across all competitions for the 23-year-old forward.
PSG bound Gabriel Moscardo has also returned from injury, who’ll add a different dimension to the heart of the midfield.
Inter’s defence has been of the best in the league, but with a few key absences, Corinthians will have opportunities on the night.

Internacional vs Corinthians Prediction 3: Early goal to set the tone
Although Internacional are without Rafael Borre, they still have other players within their ranks capable of finding the back of the net.
Wesley Ribeiro has scored three goals in his seven appearances, while Lucas Alario has shown his ability in the Copa Sudamericana with goals against Delfin and Tomayapo.
However, this bet has more to do with Corinthians and their poor defence. In their last two matches, they’ve scored four goals but also conceded the same amount. Forward Yuri Alberto can often start quickly, but there’s been a serious lack of organisation across the back four.
And as mentioned above, Carlos Miguel looks like he has played his final game for the club before heading to the Premier League.
That leaves Matheus Donelli to start in goal, who was last seen conceding three for Brazil’s U23s vs Venezuela. He hasn’t played more than 10 competitive senior games during his time with the club. A quick start for either side is possible here.
- Internacional vs Corinthians Prediction 3: Goal before 35:00
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10

Internacional vs Corinthians Team News and Possible Lineups: Garro to return for visitors
Although Corinthians won’t be able to field Caetano after his red card, new signing Rodrigo Garro will return to the squad after serving his one match suspension for accumulating five yellow cards. The same can be said for Bruno Henrique, who also had to miss out on the Sao Paulo match.
Wesley Ribeiro had to be used off the bench vs Vitoria but having scored his third goal of the season, it’s likely he will be brought back into the starting XI, especially after the sale of Mauricio to Palmeiras.
Internacional possible starting lineup:
Santana; Rene, Fernando, Vitao, Bustos, Maia, Henrique, Aranguiz, Patrick, Ribeiro, Lucca
Corinthians possible starting lineup:
Donelli; Hugo, Pedro,, Junior, Franca, Coronado, Moscardo, Raniele, Wesley, Mosquito, Alberto
