After it was announced that Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez would not be making the journey to Canada for their game against Vancouver Whitecaps, Miami’s price drifted massively, with the Whitecaps going off as heavy favourites. 

However, against the odds, Gerardo Martino’s side emerged victorious thanks to goals on either side of the break from Robert Taylor and Leonardo Campana. This win kept them on top of the Supporter’s Shield despite FC Cincinnati winning their seventh game on the bounce. 

Miami will also be buoyed by the return of the iconic trio of Messi, Suarez and Busquets so must fancy their chances of yet another win. They’ve won seven of their last eight, with a Messi-less 0-0 draw at Orlando the only blight in this record. 

Inter lost just twice in their 16 league games, scoring 38 and conceding 21 at this time. In their last three, they seem to have improved defensively, failing to concede from open play in this timeframe. 

They host an Atlanta United team massively struggling this season. Gonzalo Pineda’s side are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference, already five points adrift from the playoffs. The Five Stripes are currently nine league games without a win as injuries continue to derail their season. 

Georgios Giakoumakis and Thiago Almada are one of the deadliest duos in the league but most have missed portions of the season through injury. The prolific Greek striker is currently on the sidelines, while Almada returned off the bench in the 1-0 loss to LAFC.

Atlanta United have become renowned for their savvy and astute recruitment over the years. Players like Miguel Almiron, Josef Martinez and Thiago Almada have come over from South America and lit up the Mercedes Benz Stadium. However, they’ve also spread their wings to sign from Europe, shelling out for Greek international Georgios Giakoumakis. 

Another player who has caught the eye after signing from Europe is Tristan Muyumba. The Frenchman was signed from Guingamp last season and has impressed with his all-round midfield display. The 27-year-old can often be found driving through midfield and hitting a shot at goal. He is averaging 1.37 shots per 90, having at least one shot in eight of his last nine appearances. 

While his shot price single (1.50) is too short to back as a single, adding Atlanta corners helps bump up the price while retaining value. Atlanta have averaged 5.57 corners per game this season, hitting at least three corners in 12/14 of their league games. 

Incidentally, Inter Miami concede an average of 5.25 corners, conceding 3+ in 14 of their 16 games this season.

Despite the absence of Lionel Messi away at Vancouver Whitecaps, Inter Miami held out for a 2-1 win. They are blessed with the return of the worlds greatest for this game so are rightly heading into this game heavy favourites.

The highly decorated Argentine has excelled since moving to the MLS last season. In all competitions, he boasted 14 goal contributions in just 11 starts last campaign. This year, he has a whopping 23 in 12 starts, including 10 goals and nine assists in just nine MLS starts. 

Messi is averaging 1.05 goals per 90 from 0.78 xG per 90. He is also having 4.95 shots and 2.32 on target per 90, scoring in all bar three league starts. 

As mentioned, Atlanta are struggling this season, keeping just three clean sheets this season and none in their last five. With Messi fully rested and raring to go, Atlanta may struggle to contain the G.O.A.T.

Inter Miami vs Atlanta United Team News and Possible Lineups: All Florida Showdown

A heavily rotated team travelled to Canada to face Vancouver Whitecaps last gameweek, but a return to normality is likely in this all-Florida clash. However, Diego Gomez, Facundo Farias, Ian Fray, Nicolas Freire, Robbie Robinson and Shandyer Borgelin remain out. Highly rated Argentine sensation Federico Redondo returned off the bench last game, so may be trusted to start this week.
