Girona vs Rayo Vallecano Tip 1: Pichichi Trophy In Sight

Spain, La Liga Monday, February 26th, 20:00 (UK)

Artem Dovbyk has proven to be a fantastic purchase. The Ukrainian has scored 14 times in his debut season in Spain, and only Jude Bellingham and Borja Mayoral have found the back of the net a higher amount. Dovbyk hasn’t scored since January 21st. I am expecting him to come out firing at Estadio Municipal de Montilivi.

Girona is superb at this venue. Michel’s men have racked up 29 points from a possible 36. Real Madrid have been the only side to win here in 2023/24. Artem has scored eight goals here this term. His shot statistics are impressive.

Our man is averaging 0.84 goals per 90 from 0.68xG. The number nine shoots 3.11 times per match, with 1.55 of those attempts hitting the target. Artem Dovbyk is also the designated penalty taker for his club, a bonus regarding our selection.

After a disappointing last couple of weeks, Girona should come out firing on Monday night. Dovbyk will be eyeing the Pichichi trophy, so I expect his motivation levels to be high.

  • Girona vs Rayo Vallecano Tip 1: Artem Dovbyk AGS (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 5/10

Girona vs Rayo Vallecano Tip 2: A Ukrainian In Form

Viktor Tsygankov is another Ukrainian international. He’s Girona’s joint third top scorer this term with five. The 26-year-old found the back of the net last time out in their defeat at Athletic Club. There are no doubts that he’ll start here. Viktor has been one of the best-performing players in 23/24.

VT8 has been in decent form at home when taking a shot on target. He’s had at least one in four of five previous starts at this venue in all competitions. The Ukrainian managed two attempts on target when Girona hosted Rayo here in the Copa Del Rey last month.

I’m confident that Viktor will hit the target on Monday night. He’s had plenty of success recently and will take confidence from his goal in the previous outing.
The price does appeal. Rayo’s goalkeeper will be busy. Only four goalkeepers have made more saves than Dimitrievski this campaign.

The visitors are in poor form. They’ve won a single league game in 2024. The hosts’ offensive players will get opportunities in the final third.

  • Girona vs Rayo Vallecano Tip 2: Viktor Tsyganov Over 0.5 Shots On Target (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 4/10

Girona vs Rayo Vallecano Tip 3: A Madman In Defence

Florian Lejeune’s name may ring a bell, and you’d be right. The Frenchman spent a handful of seasons at Newcastle not so long ago. The 32-year-old is now a vital part of Rayo Vallecano’s defence, where he loves a shot, especially from range.

Given he’s a central defender, Lejeune’s shot statistics are phenomenal. In his 25 starts this term, he has taken 40 shots. A whopping 27 shots have come from outside the box. He even had an attempt from his half.

Rayo’s central defender is also a threat from set pieces, something they may use to their advantage. Girona’s most recent XI was relatively short. Their tallest player is the same height as Lejeune.

In the reverse meeting, Lejuene has two shots. One came from a considerable distance. The other was a header only a few yards out. Rayo may not have that much joy in attack due to their low goal total this term. I’m hoping their madman in central defence can take things into his own hands and fire off some wild attempts.

  • Girona vs Rayo Vallecano Tip 3: Florian Lejeune Over 1.5 Shots (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.50
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 2/10

Girona vs Rayo Vallecano Predictions odds via bet365 as at 09:00, February 20th, 2024. Odds may now differ.

Girona vs Rayo Vallecano Team News and Possible Lineups: Strong Squads

Girona should have the majority of players available here. Daley Blind is the only real doubt; he’s suffering from a leg injury, and this game may be too soon for his return.

Savio, Tsyganov and Dovbyk will be expected to start in attack. Yan Couto will be back after his suspension.

Isi Palazon is suspended for the visitors. Rayo appeared to escape without any injuries in their draw with the league leaders on Sunday afternoon. Jorge de Frutos may come into the side.

Girona possible starting lineup:
Gazzaniga; Couto, Garcia, Blind, Gutierrez, Garcia, Herrera, Tsygankov, Martin, Savio; Dovbyk

Rayo Vallecano possible starting lineup:
Dimitrievski; Balliu, Hernandez, Lejeune, Espini, Jorge de Frutos, Lopez, Valentin, Garcia, de Tomas; Trejo
