Frankfurt vs Augsburg Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview
What a huge clash we have here at Deutsche Bank Park as Jack Wright readies a Frankfurt vs Augsburg prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview in the Bundesliga.
If Germany is not among the two countries with the best collective performance of their teams in European competitions, the tram finishing sixth will go into the Europa Conference League play-off. Unless Leverkusen win the DFB Cup meaning sixth goes into the Europa League and seventh takes the aforementioned play off spot.
The reason this game is so significant is that it is sixth playing seventh with just three points separating the two. Neither can rely on the newly crowned champions doing them a favour and of course the Europa League is the more prestigious competition.
- Frankfurt vs Augsburg Tip 1: Draw or Augsburg Double Chance
- Frankfurt vs Augsburg Tip 2: Under 2.75 Goal Line

Frankfurt vs Augsburg Prediction 1: Taking two chances in a three horse race
Germany, Bundesliga, Friday, April 19th, 19:30 (UK)
Eintracht Frankfurt were soundly beaten by Champions League qualification chasing Stuttgart at the weekend. The game all but over before the half time whistle.
Dino Toppmöller’s side found themselves 2-0 down with just 17 minutes on the clock and when Jamie Leweling added a third before half time there was only ever going to be one winner. That defeat stretched their winless run to four games.
With victories for both Augsbug and Freiburg the Eagles now only have a three point buffer to those two chasing sides. It is conceivable that all three clubs could be on the same points after this next round of fixtures.
As a result, coupled with their recent poor form, I feel the hosts would be content with a draw here. This comes into the “must not lose” category rather than “must win”.
Augsburg visit with the wind in their sails having won five of their last seven Bundesliga fixtures. Most recently after a tepid first half performance against Union Berlin the Fuggerstädter were much improved after the interval and ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.
The burst of good form has seen them go from relegation candidates to European hopefuls, and I like the fact we can get the form team onside here as well as the draw at a generous price. Even more so when you consider that Frankfurt has drawn four of their last five at home in the league.
- Frankfurt vs Augsburg Prediction 1: Draw or Augsburg Double Chance
- Best Odds: 1.80

Frankfurt vs Augsburg Prediction 2: I’ll be Frank – I don’t fancy goals.
When you take an under goals bet in the Bundesliga this season you take your life in your hands! Well that’s exactly what I am going to do here.
The decision is helped a little by the fact the line is 2.75, meaning if there are exactly three goals, we only lose half our stake. However, zero, one, or two is where it is for a full win.
Statistically, these are two of the better sides for backing “under” in what has been a goal-crazy campaign in Germany’s top flight. After 261 matches there have been 829 goals scored at an average of 3.18 per fixture, 62% have gone over 2.5 goals, with 40% seeing four or more.
However, only Mainz have seen under 2.5 goals click for bettors when playing at home more than Frankfurt’s eight occasions this term. Half of those coming in their last six fixtures on home soil and only four of 14 have seen the back of the net hit four or more times.
Augsburg ranks sixth in Bundesliga for games seeing under 2.5 goals when playing away from home. The main driver for me here though is what is at stake in the game and that usually leads to tight and cagey affairs.
- Frankfurt vs Augsburg Prediction 2: Under 2.75 Goal Line
- Best Odds: 2.06
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
Frankfurt vs Augsburg Prediction 3: Ermedin continues to make noise in the goalscorers charts
I was very surprised to see four players ahead of Ermedin Demirović in the goalscorer markets for this fixture. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has fired in 15 league goals for Augsburg this season with only five players having scored more in Bundesliga.
The 26-year-old missed the recent 1-1 draw at home to FC Koln due to suspension. However, scored on his immediate return to the starting line up the following weekend.
Demirović produced an unusually subdued performance last Friday in the victory over Union, only registering one shot and was kept off the scoresheet. A tally of seven goals in his last ten appearances for Augsburg illustrates, however, that he is most certainly still a striker in good form.
The reverse fixture will ignite good memories for Augsburg’s number nine. Although not hitting the back of the net himself he did provide the assist for both his side’s goals in a 2-1 win.
He will be looking to put that right here at Deutsche Bank Park, and at odds of 3.00, he is certainly the value play.
- Frankfurt vs Augsburg Prediction 3: Ermedin Demirović to Score (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 3.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10

Frankfurt vs Augsburg Team News and Possible Lineups: Fans of Super Mario will need to keep an eye on team news
Tuta serves the last of his two match ban for his red card against Bremen a fortnight ago. While there are doubts around the availability of Mario Gotze who missed the defeat to Stuttgart with conjunctivitis. This game may come too soon for both Sebastian Rode and Ellyes Skhiri although don’t rule out either making it to the bench.
The visitors could have as many as eight players absent with Iago and Kristijan Jakic the closest to being able to feature.
Frankfurt possible starting lineup:
Kevin Trapp, Niels Nkounkou, Robin Koch, Willian Pacho, Buta, Makoto Hasebe, Hugo Larsson, Fares Chaibi, Ansgar Knauff, Hugo Ekitike, Omar Marmoush
Augsburg possible starting lineup:
Finn Dahmen, Mads Pedersen, Felix Uduokhai, Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, Maximilian Bauer, Tim Breithaupt, Arne Maier, Arne Engels, Ruben Vargas, Phillip Tietz, Ermedin Demirovic
