Fleetwood vs Derby Tip 1: Resolute Derby
England, League 1, Saturday, January 6th, 12:30 (UK)
Despite a loss to Peterborough in their last game, Derby are on one of the hottest streaks in League One.
After being outside of the playoffs and even some talks of manager Paul Warne parting ways with the club, the club have turned it around massively, winning six of their last seven before their recent loss. The recent form has seen Derby move all the way up to 4th in the table, just five points away from the automatic promotion spot.
As for Fleetwood, now with former Premier League midfielder Charlie Adam at the wheel, it has been a season to forget. They sit bottom, with just four wins to their name and a league-high 42 goals conceded, under three different managers.
With those goals conceded in mind, Derby have only conceded 23 this year, the second least in the league. With Derby’s form and the hope of a bounce back after a loss in their last, as well as their opponents being such a poor side, they will be confident of keeping a clean sheet and winning this one comfortably.

Fleetwood vs Derby Tip 2: Clinical Collins
Derby’s number nine has been in fine form this season, netting ten times, nearly double more than any other player in the team.
He is certainly a traditional number nine, always in and around the six-yard area to tuck chances away for his side. He is key for Derby’s attack, and even when they change the team’s formation and squad around, he is more than likely starting upfront for them.
In their last fixture, Collins scored inside the opening minute of the match, despite going on to eventually lose the game. He has appeared in every league game this season so far and will more than likely be starting as the main man once again this week.
With the previously talked about poor Fleetwood defence in front of Derby, they will be licking their lips for the number of chances they could have. Expect Collins to be in the right place at the right time and hit the back of the net at some point.
- Fleetwood vs Derby Tip 2: James Collins to score Anytime
- Best Odds: 2.62
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 5/10
Fleetwood vs Derby Tip 3: Earl to see Yellow
Approaching the game, both sides average at least two cards per90, and this one could get feisty. Furthermore, referee Ben Speedie has been put in charge of the match, and in the seven League One games he has done this season, he has produced 19 yellow cards, coming in at just under three a game.
The last time these two sides met in August, both sides picked up three cards a piece, and if the game continues that trend into this one, there is a good chance Earl may end up in the book. Josh Earl has already picked up six yellow cards from the left-back position, and the 24-year-old could be going against the likes of Kane Wilson and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing on Derby’s right.
Both teams usually average around 50% of possession in games; however, if one team is likely to control the game, it will be Derby. If that’s the case, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Earl is back in the referee’s book with a late challenge or stopping a counterattack. At odds of 4.75, it could be great value from someone with six yellows on the season already.
- Fleetwood vs Derby Tip 3: Josh Earl to be Carded
- Best Odds: 4.75
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 5/10
