Flamengo vs Gremio Prediction 1: Hosts to coast to victory
Brazil, Brasileirão, Wednesday, June 12th, 00:00 (UK)
It has been incredibly hard for everyone in the south of Brazil over the past month due to the severe flooding, and Gremio is in a difficult situation. Due to their training pitch and ground being damaged, they’ve moved their “home” matches to Couto Pereira, the home of Curitiba.
They were, however, able to dig deep and qualify for the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores, but their current situation has hampered their league status. Their first domestic match saw them fall to a 2-0 defeat vs Bragantino, and a trip to the Maracana is far from ideal.
Their star player, Yeferson Soteldo, is also with Venezuela ahead of their Copa America campaign.
The break came at a good time for Flamengo, who have reorganised themselves after a poor run of form, and have won six matches in a row, scoring 16 goals in the process.
They head into this fixture on the back of a 6-1 demolition job over rivals Vasco, and with goals coming from various team members, Gremio are going to struggle to keep everyone quiet and halt Flamengo’s impressive form.
The hosts are a short price to win, and although they’ve been amongst the goals of late, Gremio won’t be hammered as hard as Vasco.

Flamengo vs Gremio Prediction 2: Unstoppable striker can’t be opposed
Pedro’s form in the Brasileirão over the years tells us why he’s arguably the best striker in Brazil – and why he’s such an integral part to Flamengo’s system, no matter how much they spend every year.
Already across all competitions in 2024 Pedro has scored 21 goals and has clearly flourished under Tite having almost left the team when he fell out with former head coach Jorge Sampaoli last year.
However, all of that is now in the past and Pedro is probably a touch unfortunate not to be in Brazil’s squad for the upcoming Copa America. Tite, though, will be delighted he isn’t.
Heading into this fixture having scored in each of his last five matches, which also included a brace vs Millonarios in the Libertadores, I’m amazed Pedro is odds-against to find the back of the net once more in front of his own fans.
If Flamengo continue to find their groove and create chances, expect Pedro to be on the end of them.
- Flamengo vs Gremio Prediction 2: Pedro to Score Anytime
- Best Odds: 2.10

- Stake: 7/10
Flamengo vs Gremio Prediction 3: Vicious visitors
This is a rare market for me to dive into, but one which immediately caught my eye having watched these two sides closely of late.
With Flamengo in a rich vein of form, enjoying plenty of success in front of goal, yellow cards haven’t been part of their game. In fact, they’ve only picked up three in their last five matches.
Admittedly, Bruno Henrique was sent off against Millonarios, but we can put that down to stupidity over anything. A very out of character, rash tackle from the striker was a lesson learnt situation, rather than a regular part of his game.
But with Flamengo on top of games, or controlling them, Tite has made sure his team aren’t drawn into anything silly on the pitch. Even when taking time to breakthrough, we aren’t seeing Fla players lose their heads.
Gremio, on the other hand, has returned to the field collecting yellows. Whether that’s down to a lack of match sharpness, frustration when games haven’t gone their way, or both, cards have followed them.
Gremio picked up three vs Estudiantes and four against Bragantino in recent weeks. With Flamengo likely to pick up the three points, and dominating the ball, the visitors may pick up more cards in the process.

Flamengo vs Gremio Team News and Possible Lineups: No Soteldo for visitors
With the league set to continue throughout Copa America, certain clubs are going to be without key players, which could impact results over the coming weeks.
Gremio’s loanee from Santos, Yeferson Soteldo, has arguably been their standout player since his arrival. However, he’s also a key player for Venezuela, and his focus will be with them in the US over the next couple of weeks at least.
Flamengo will also have a key player absent from the squad to worry about. Nicolas de la Cruz is not only the heartbeat of Fla’s midfield, but also Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay. With La Celeste expected to run deep in the tournament, Fla will need to turn to others whilst he’s in the US.
Youngsters including Igor Jesus and Victor Hugo may be given an opportunity to shine – both capable and continuing to attract European attention.
Flamengo possible starting lineup:
Rossi; Vina, David Luiz, Bruno, Varela, de Arrascaeta, Jesus, Allan, Everton, Gerson, Pedro
Gremio possible starting lineup:
Marchesin; Reinaldo, Walter Kannemann, Ely, Pedro, Pepe, Dodi, Pavon, Cristaldo, Nunes, Costa
