FA Cup Best Bets: Sunday, March 19th

The FA Cup Quarter-Finals are taking place this weekend, only four sides left in the competition play their trade in the top flight. Here at bettingexpert Expert Insight, we have selected three bets for the action on Sunday.

In this article:

Sheffield United vs Blackburn Preview

Sunday, March 19th, 12:00 (UK)

It’s an all-Championship affair on Sunday lunchtime. The winner here gets a chance to play at Wembley. No second-tier side has managed that feat since Reading back in 2015. The home side are favourites but Blackburn will be competitive, they’ve lost just once in 13.

These sides have met twice in the Championship this season, Sheffield United won 3-0 here back in August whilst Blackburn won the reverse earlier this month in a single-goal game.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side have won 11 of their 18 matches in the league at Bramall Lane, they’ve scored 35 with 17 going in at the other end. Iliman Ndiaye and Oli McBurnie lead the way in terms of goals with 11 each.

Blackburn’s away record isn’t the greatest by any means, they’ve earned maximum points in six of their 19 away trips with 10 defeats. Just 18 goals have been scored and boast a -10 goal difference. Ben Brereton is their star man, he’s scored in back-to-back games leading into this one.

Sheffield United vs Blackburn Best Bet

I’m expecting this to be a tight affair on Sunday afternoon. The proposed selection has landed in both clashes between these sides this season.

Sheffield United have played 18 times at home this season in the league. 83% of matches have seen them carded in the second half, that’s the same percentage for their opposition.

Blackburn have received a card after the break in 84% of their away league matches, all 18 of their opponents have been carded.

Tim Robinson is in charge here, he’s averaging 4.26 yellows per game over 23 Championship matches and has booked both sides after the break in 61% of matches.

  • Selection: Over 0.5 Second Half Cards Each Team & Under 4.5 Goals (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.86 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 6/10

Brighton vs Grimsby Preview

Sunday, March 19th, 14:15 (UK)

Brighton have the easiest of ties given the position of Grimsby in the EFL pyramid, they’re 15th in League 2 but they did knock out Southampton in the previous round. The Seagulls are having a terrific season and have been a joy to watch under Roberto De Zerbi and will fancy their chances of making the final four.

As expected, Brighton are heavy favourites and are priced at 1.12 to win inside 90 minutes. Grimsby are as big as 23.00 with the draw available at 10.0. Brighton have been a strong side when playing at the Amex, they’ve won seven of their 13 home matches and have won five of their last six in all competitions.

Paul Hurst’s side have played 17 times away from home in League 2, they’ve won and lost eight with a single draw in that time. They’ll be expected to sit deep and keep Brighton out for as long as they can and hope to catch them on the break.

Brighton vs Grimsby Best Bet

Instead of backing an outcome, I’m keen to get onside with an individual in the anytime goalscorer market. Solly March has the joint most goals for Brighton in the Premier League this campaign, he’s found the back of the net in his previous two appearances.

Goals are heavily expected here given the prices, the goal line is set at 3.5 which is pretty high. I was surprised to see Solly March available to back at 3.40 to find the back of the net in this clash, he’s having the season of his life and has a high chance of playing the majority of the 90 minutes. Just remember to void if he doesn’t start.

  • Selection: Solly March Anytime Goalscorer (void if player doesn’t start) (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 3.40 (Betfair)
  • Stakes: 5/10

Man United vs Fulham Preview

Sunday, March 19th, 14:30 (UK)

The only all-Premier League tie is the last FA Cup game of the weekend, Erik ten Haag’s side will want to follow up their Carabao Cup triumphs with another trophy. They have a great chance of making the next round given they’re at home against a Fulham side who’ve suffered back-to-back defeats.

United are considerable favourites here, best priced at 1.48. Fulham arrive here at a big price, they’re 7.5 to win and 4.75 to qualify. Marco Silva’s side have a steady record on the road in the league which has seen them win five and lose six across 13 matches.

Man United have scored in 11 of their 13 games at Old Trafford this season, with just Newcastle and Southampton left with clean sheets. Garnacho’s 93rd-minute goal won the only meeting of the season so far which came in November.

Man United vs Fulham Best Bet

I’ve dived into the player prop markets for this clash, Luke Shaw has committed a foul in 21/22 Premier League games this season which includes one at Craven Cottage. Mitrovic has committed a foul in each of his last 12 league matches and will be an absolute handful as always.

We all know just how good Rashford has been since the World Cup break, his scoring record at home has been sensational and it’ll be hard to see him have a quiet 90 minutes.

  • Selection: Mitrovic 1+ Foul / Shaw 1+ Foul & Rashford 1+ Shot On Target (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90 (Paddy Power)
  • Stakes: 6/10

Odds via bet365 as at 11:30 March 17th 2023. Odds may now differ.
