Burnley vs Ipswich Preview

Tuesday, February 7th, 19:45 (UK)

The runaway Championship leaders, Burnley welcome a stuttering Ipswich side where I’m expecting the hosts to record an 11th straight win at Turf Moor. Kieran McKenna’s squad have failed to win any of their previous five away trips across League 1.

It was a goalless meeting when these sides met less than two weeks ago with a fairly even-looking game in terms of stats. Vincent Kompany’s men created just 0.34xG with Ipswich accumulating 0.72xG, 17 corners were taken with Burnley keeping more possession.

Ipswich were held to a 1-1 draw at the weekend away to Cambridge, who sit in 22nd. They dominated proceedings but lacked a real cutting edge in front of the goal. The Clarets recorded another brilliant result on Saturday afternoon, they beat Norwich 3-0 at Carrow Road.

Burnley vs Ipswich Best Bet

Burnley are favourites here, which comes as a little surprise given just how good the hosts have been throughout the campaign. It’s a price that is definitely worth taking, Kompany will be expected to put out a strong XI on the night.

There is no doubt that Ipswich will put up a fight, they’re one of the strongest sides in the 3rd tier but I expect them to fall just short here against a quality Burnley side who’ve looked a class above at times in the Championship.

  • Selection: Burnley To Win (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 5/10

Sheffield United vs Wrexham Preview

Tuesday, February 7th, 19:45 (UK)

National League outfit, Wrexham, will feel hard done by being forced to a replay after their 3-3 draw with Championship side, Sheffield United. Phil Parkinson’s side were the better team in the clash at the Racecourse with Paul Mullin the standout player.

If we see a game half as good as the one we saw in Wales, we’re in for another entertaining clash. Paul Heckingbottom’s side are strong favourites but the visitors will arrive here in great confidence knowing they can make a real game of this.

Sheffield United are priced at 1.45 to win within 90 minutes. Wrexham have been given a +1.25 start on the Asian handicap which was tempting but I’ve sided with the goals.

The hosts have scored in 12 of their 14 home league games this season and have kept five clean sheets. Wrexham perform much better in front of the home fans but have still scored 28 in 16 away matches.

Sheffield United vs Wrexham Best Bet

BTTS is priced at 1.80 for this match, we saw that Wrexham have the ability to hurt Sheffield United in attacking areas, who did start with a strong squad in that 3-3 draw.

I’d expect the hosts to take control and have the majority of possession here as they look to avoid an upset. Paul Mullin will be wanting to extend his FA Cup goal tally, he’s already scored eight in this competition.

  • Selection: Yes on BTTS (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 4/10

Fleetwood vs Sheffield Wednesday Preview

Tuesday, February 7th, 19:45 (UK)

This will be the 4th time that these clubs have met this season in games that have all come since Boxing Day. Sheffield Wednesday won both meetings in the league but Scott Brown’s side forced a replay after a 1-1 draw at Hillsborough.

Fleetwood are in a poor run of form, they’ve lost their previous four league matches and are slipping much closer to the relegation zone. It’s quite the opposite for Darren Moore’s side who have won each of their last six League 1 matches. They knocked Newcastle out in the previous round.

The visitors are priced at 1.90 to win here, they went off shorter in their 2-1 victory just a few weeks ago. They have the best away record of any club in the division and rarely concede on their travels. Moore’s side rank 3rd best for xG and are the best side defensively in regards to xGA in the third tier.

Fleetwood vs Sheffield Wednesday Best Bet

I’m happy to get with the in-form side in this replay, they’re bang in form and have already won here in recent weeks. Scott Brown’s side have lost five of their last six at Highbury Stadium.

A last 16 place is at stake for the winner which will be against a side from outside the Premier League. I expect Wednesday will have too much inside the 90 minutes.

  • Selection: Sheffield Wednesday To Win (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 4/10

Odds via as at 10:00 February 6th 2023. Odds may now differ.
