Everton vs Sheffield United Prediction 1: Hotshot Brereton Diaz
England, Premier League, Saturday, May 11th, 15:00 (UK)
In what has been a dismal season for Sheffield United, the loan signing of Ben Brereton Diaz has been a rare shining light. The 25-year-old has scored six goals in 12 appearances, despite the Blades failing to win any league game that he has been involved in.
In these 12 games, the Chilean has hit 30 shots, for an average of 2.84 shots and 1.80 shots per 90 this season. In the last 6 games he’s hit 4(2), 5(3), 4(2), 4(3), 2(1), and 2(1) shots and shots on target, including goals against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest in the last three games.
With Sheffield United winning just three games all season and this being a dead rubber, Chris Wilder should instruct his side to attack, with Ben Brereton Diaz the main attacking threat.
- Team A vs Team B Prediction 1: Ben Brereton Diaz over 1.5 shots and over 0.5 shots on target (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 10/10
Everton vs Sheffield United Prediction 2: Marauding Bogle
Over the years, Sheffield United have become renowned for their overlapping wing-backs, with Jayden Bogle making this role his own this season.
The 23-year-old has had 31 shots from 30 starts, for an average of 1.07 shots per 90. However, in recent weeks his shot volume has increased tenfold.
The wingback has registered a shot in his last nine games and at least two shots in six of these.
Everton have conceded a shot to a full back/wingback in five of their last six games, with Ashley Young lacking pace to track marauding wingbacks.
Again, like Brereton Diaz, Bogle has been a shining light in a catastrophic Sheffield United season. The 23-year-old will wanna end his season with a bang.
- Everton vs Sheffield United Prediction 2: Jayden Bogle Over 0.5 Shots (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 10/10
Everton vs Sheffield United Prediction 3: Tame Toffees
A run of four straight home wins for Everton saw the Toffees safe. Everton overcame Burnley, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Brentford en route to securing safety, before battling to a point at Luton. While only Saturday’s opponents have scored fewer goals than Everton’s 38, the hosts can take solace from the fact that Sheffield United have conceded a record breaking 100 goals already this season, for an average of 2.77 goals per game.
The Blades have conceded at least two goals in their last ten games, averaging 3.6 goals against in this period.
Everton have only drawn an average of 1.53 yellows per game. Only Sheffield United (1.42) have drawn fewer. Refereeing this encounter is Stuart Atwell. While the 41-year-old is averaging 4.45 cards per game, he has shown under 3 cards in 7 of his 24 matches this year.
Due to the nature of a lot of Sheffield United defeats, games are often low-carding due to the game state. Heading into a dead-rubber against a side who also don’t draw many cards, we should see a low-carding affair.
- Everton vs Sheffield United Prediction 3: Everton Over 1.5 Goals and Under 3 Match Cards
- Best Odds: 3.32
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 5/10

Match OPTA Stats: Content against The Everton
- Everton have lost five of their last seven home league games against Sheffield United (including the last two in a row), with the exceptions being a 4-2 win in August 1993 and a 2-0 victory in October 2006.
- Sheffield United have won more Premier League away games against Everton than they have any other opponent (3), while their four wins overall against them in the competition is their joint-most versus one side (also 4 v Chelsea).
- Everton have lost their final home league game in just one of the last eight campaigns (W6 D1), winning the last three in a row since a 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth in 2019-20.
- Sheffield United have lost their final away game in each of their last four Premier League campaigns, with their last success coming at Everton in the 1992-93 season (2-0).
- Since losing 6-0 to Chelsea, Everton have won three and drawn one of their four Premier League games. They last had a longer run without defeat between August and October 2022 (6).
- Sheffield United have conceded 100 Premier League goals this season, just the second side to do so in a single campaign in the competition after Swindon in 1993-94. In a 38 (or less) game English top-flight season, only Darwen (112 in 1891-92) and Leicester (102 in 1908-09) have shipped more.
- Everton (49) are one opposition goal off becoming the 17th different team to concede 50+ in the Premier League this season, just the second time as many teams have shipped as many in the same season (18 in 1992-93). It would be the most in a 20-team top-flight campaign since 1909-10 (17), and the first time as many as 85% of teams have done so since 1965-66 (86% – 19/22).
