Monza vs Milan: Fonseca’s Attack to Respond
Italy, Serie A, Saturday, 2nd November, 19:45 (UK)
Monza’s only win of the season thus far came away to Verona. Five draws men they have kept their noses out of the relegation zone but their home form must improve if they are to remain in the top tier of Italian football beyond this season.
Milan rolled the dice in the summer when they replaced Stefan Pioli with Paulo Fonseca and it’s safe to say that gamble hasn’t paid off to this point. The Rossoneri are outside of the European places heading into the weekend’s fixtures having lost 2-0 at home to Napoli midweek.
I Biancorossi are conceding 13.5 shots per game this season, which is only slightly higher than the league average of 12.88. However, over 14.5 attempts for the visitors looks a good bet given how recent clashes have panned out. Milan had 16 shots in this fixture last season and 17 in the reverse.
Despite their struggles, Paulo Fonseca’s side have averaged 15 shots per game in Serie A this season. Over 14.5 shots for the Rossoneri has landed in four of Milan’s five away matches thus far.
- Selection: Over 14.5 Shots For Milan (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.72
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Napoli vs Atalanta: Table Toppers to Put on a Display
Italy, Serie A, Sunday, 3rd November, 11:30 (UK)
Napoli are unbeaten since losing their opening game of the season 3-0 against Verona. Antonio Conte has turned things around quickly and his team now sit at the top of the tree in Italy. The Neopolitans won the league in the 2022/23 season but slumped to a 10th-place finish without Luciano Spalletti last term.
Atalanta are six points behind Napoli ahead of Sunday’s clash. After a rocky start, they have won their last four games in Serie A but this one promises to be a tougher test. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have won just one of their last five meetings with Napoli.
Gli Azzurri are averaging 17.2 shots per league game in front of their own fans this season. They could a decent number here if Atalanta are able to avoid conceding an early goal. Napoli have exceeded the 15 attempts mark in five of their seven home matches across all competitions this season.
Gasperini’s team don’t concede a lot of shots but that isn’t the case when they visit Napoli. This bet has won on six of their last seven visits to this ground.
- Selection: Over 14.5 Shots For Napoli (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
Valencia vs Real Madrid: Valencia to Go Down Swinging
Spain, La Liga, Saturday, 2nd November, 20:00 (UK)
Valencia have endured a disastrous start to the season and they face a wounded Real Madrid this weekend. Ruben Baraja is under increasing pressure with his side marooned at the bottom of La Liga having picked up just seven points. Any points they can earn against Los Blancos would be a bonus in their battle against the drop.
Real Madrid were comprehensively beaten 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu by Barcelona last weekend, ending their 42-game unbeaten run in La Liga. Carlo Ancelotti’s side now face an uphill battle to retain the title.
Baraja’s side have averaged just 8.36 shots per game this season but their recent numbers against Real Madrid are more promising. Valencia had 12 shots in this fixture last season and 10 at the Bernabeu so over 8.5 appeals.
Los Blancos have conceded 11 shots or more in four of their five La Liga away matches this season. Real are conceding an average of 11.18 attempts per game this season.
- Selection: Over 8.5 Shots For Valencia (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.72
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Atletico Madrid vs Las Palmas: Relegation Battlers Can Dig in
Spain, La Liga, Sunday, 3rd November, 13:00 (UK)
Atletico Madrid spent heavily in the transfer window but it is taking some time for the team to gel. Diego Simeone overhauled his attack by bringing in Alexander Sorloth and Julian Alvarez but his team are averaging just 1.45 goals per game.
Las Palmas sit in the relegation zone heading into matchday 12. However, they have managed to win their last two league matches. Diego Martinez would have been delighted with the 1-0 win over Girona last weekend but they will need to replicate that level of performance to get anything here.
With Atleti struggling to break down their opponents, they have averaged just 12.36 shots per game this season. Diego Simeone’s side managed just 13 attempts in both games against Las Palmas in the previous campaign.
Los Amarillos are conceding an average of 13.91 shots this season, the third most in La Liga. This increases to 14.4 in their away matches but under 16.5 shots for the opposition has won in four of their five league games on the road.
- Selection: Under 16.5 Shots For Atletico Madrid (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bochum: Shot Numbers Soar in Frankfurt Matches
Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 2nd November, 14:30 (UK)
Eintracht Frankfurt are targeting a European once again. They finished 6th last season and that’s exactly where they sit heading into this round of fixtures. Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are the only teams to beat Dino Toppmoller’s side in 13 competitive matches this season.
The outlook is far bleaker for Bochum. After nine matches, they have a point to show for their efforts. They earned that solitary point thanks to a home draw against Holstein Kiel. Bochum needs to improve quickly if they are to avoid the drop.
Toppmoller’s side’s matches have seen the most shots in the Bundesliga this season with an average of 32 per game. This is a stark contrast to last season when Frankfurt’s matches saw the fewest attempts in the German top flight. Over 29.5 shots has won in Eintrahcht’s last six league outings.
Bochum matches also see plenty of efforts on goal. Last season, their matches saw the most shots in the league. They rank highly this term, with an average of 29.75 shots every time they take to the field in the Bundesliga.
- Selection: Over 29.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig: A Thrilling Clash at Signal Iduna Park
Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 2nd November, 17:30 (UK)
Borussia Dortmund made it to the Champions League final last season but parted ways with Edin Terzic in the summer. Nuri Sahin, a man who played for the club, was brought in but he is already under incredible pressure with Dortmund 8th in the league.
RB Leipzig are 2nd, eight points ahead of Dortmund and this promises to be a particularly interesting affair. Legendary Dortmund boss, Jurgen Klopp, angered the Yellow Wall by accepting a role as Reb Bull’s head of football, adding another layer to an already tantilising game.
Dortmund matches have seen an average of 24.62 shots this season, the third-fewest in the Bundesliga. However, there has been at least 30 shots in their last two league games at home.
Meetings between RB Leipzig and Dortmund tend to see plenty of goalmouth action. There were 44 shots in this fixture last season and 33 in the meeting at the Red Bull Arena. Marco Rose’s side’s away matches this season have seen an average of 29 shots.
