Genoa vs Juventus: A Lack of Goalmouth Action

Italy, Serie A, Saturday, 28th September, 17:00 (UK)

Genoa have collected five points from five matches which means they sit just a point above the relegation zone in Serie A. They suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Unione Venezia last weekend and have struggled to score goals in the early stages of this season.

Juventus are another side that has struggled to find the net of late. They remain unbeaten in their five league matches under Thiago Motta but their last three games have finished 0-0. The Old Lady are within touching distance of the league leaders but there is plenty of work to be done.

Genoa matches this season have seen 25.6 attempts on average but there were just 22 attempts in both of their games against Juventus last season.

Motta’s men are yet to concede a goal in the league so it’ll come as no surprise that they are also conceding the fewest shots with an average of 6.6 per game. However, their inability to create a wealth of chances means their matches have seen an average of just 17.2 shots per game, the least in the league by some distance.

  • Selection: Under 23.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Parma vs Cagliari: A Double Order of Shots

Italy, Serie A, Monday, 30th September, 19:45 (UK)

Parma have the fourth-best xG in the Italian top flight with 1.65. They have shown plenty of attacking impetus and it has paid dividends with the team picking up five points from five matches. Survival is the aim for Parma this season after being promoted from the second tier.

Cagliari sit bottom of the table after five matches and that is largely due to their inability to find the net. They have scored just one goal in their last five matches in Serie A. The underlying data shows a bit more promise, they have an average xG of 14 per game so it should be a matter of time before the goals come.

Parma matches have seen the most shots in the league with an average of 32.6. This number is slightly inflated by their most recent clash with Lecce, which saw 39 attempts but over 28.5 shots has won in three of their five Serie A games to this point.

They face another side whose matches have seen plenty of shots with an average of 30.6 per game. There were 38 shots in the only away game Cagliari have played thus far.

  • Selection: Over 28.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Athletic Bilbao vs Sevilla: Los Hispalensis to Buck Bilbao Trend

Spain, La Liga, Sunday, 29th September, 15:15 (UK)

After a rocky start, Athletic Bilbao have now won their last three matches. The good run has seen them climb into the European places. They finished 5th last season and will be looking to go one better by securing Champions League qualification this time around.

Sevilla participated in Europe last season thanks to their Europe League triumph in the 22/23 campaign but it could be a while before they qualify for a continental competition thanks to their league position. They currently sit in the bottom half of the table.

Shots have been in short supply when Athletico Bilbao take to the field. The average of 19.71 attempts per game when Ernest Valverde’s team play is the lowest in La Liga but their recent head-to-heads with Sevilla show more promise. There were 24 and 26 in their games against Los Hispalensis last season.

Garcia Pimienta’s side’s matches are at the other end of the scale. There has been an average of 26.43 shots per Sevilla match this season.

  • Selection: Over 23.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid: Los Blancos on the Front Foot

Spain, La Liga, Sunday, 29th September, 20:00 (UK)

Atletico Madrid have less time to prepare for this derby due to their encounter with Celta Vigo on Thursday night but they have done well against Real Madrid in recent years. Diego Simeone’s side have avoided defeat in their last six matches against Los Blancos.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side haven’t lost a competitive match in 90 minutes in over a year. Atletico Madrid dumped them out of the Copa Del Rey in extra time back in January. Simeone’s side were also the last team to beat Real in the league.

Atleti are conceding the third-fewest shots per game in La Liga ahead of their game against Celta Vigo with an average of 9.3 per game. Nevertheless, we are backing Real Madrid shots thanks to the stats in recent head-to-heads. Los Blancos are averaging 17.6 attempts in their last five games against Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid are averaging the most shots in La Liga with an average of 19.14 per game. They will be without Kylian Mbappe for the Madrid Derby but they still have plenty of options in attack and should exceed the 13-shot mark.

  • Selection: Over 13.5 Shots For Real Madrid (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen: German Heavyweights Set to Entertain

Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 29th September, 17:30 (UK)

This is a chance for Bayern Munich to steal an early march on the team that ended their Bundesliga dominance. Vincent Kompany has enjoyed the early stages of his tenure. Bayern have won all six of their competitive matches under their new boss, scoring an average of 4.83 goals per game.

Bayer Leverkusen became the first-ever team to go a full Bundesliga campaign unbeaten last time out. They have already lost against RB Leipzig this season but have shown they have the character to win the title once again with a couple of late goals.

Bayern matches this season have seen an average of 24.75 attempts but this bet has won on the last five occasions they have welcomed Leverkusen to the Allianz Arena. Those clashes have seen 30.4 shots on average.

Xabi Alonso’s side have looked frail defensively of late. They are yet to keep a clean sheet but remain a force when going forward. Leverkusen’s league matches have seen an average of 34.25 shots, the second most in the division.

  • Selection: Over 27.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Hoffenheim vs Werder Bremen: Shots Scarce in Bremen Matches

Germany, Bundesliga, Sunday, 30th September, 17:30 (UK)

Hoffenheim won their opening game against Holstein Kiel but they come into this one on the back of three straight defeats. They qualified for the Europa League thanks to their 7th place finish last season but they need to improve quickly to reach those heights once again.

Werder Bremen also have one win after four matches but they are two points above Sunday’s opponents thanks to a couple of draws.  Bremen have won just one of their last eight against Hoffenheim so they’ll be hoping to fare better here.

Die Kraichgauer matches saw plenty of shots last season and that trend has continued into the new campaign. Their matches have seen an average of 30.25 attempts but the line set by the bookmaker looks a little high here.

They face a Werder Bremen side whose matches have seen the third-fewest shots in the Bundesliga with an average of just 22.75 per game. This bet has won in all of their league outings to this point. It has also landed in seven of their last eight games against Hoffenheim.

  • Selection: Under 30.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10
