Game week five of the Champions League & Europa League commences on Tuesday and Matthew O’Regan has his European acca. With four games left in each respective tournament, games are becoming more and more crucial, so entertaining clashes are expected.

Celtic vs Club Brugge : Classic at Celtic Park

Scotland, Champions League, Wednesday, November, 27th 20:00 (UK) 

Celtic host Club Brugge in a crunch tie at Celtic Park. Both sides currently sit in the playoff phase of the Champions League, knowing a win could potentially take them into the top eight. 

As expected, Celtic have had a dominating start to their SPL campaign, winning 11 and drawing one of their 12 games. The Bhoys have also scored 35 and conceded just four goals, with the only two home goals conceded coming at home to second place Aberdeen. 

In the Champions League, they currently sit 15th with two wins, one draw and one loss. Their campaign started with a 5-1 dismantling of Slovak side Slovan Bratislava, before being destroyed 7-1 at Borussia Dortmund. Brendan Rodgers kept it tight in Bergamo, scraping out a 0-0 draw against Atalanta despite the hosts accumulating 2.38 xG. Celtic’s last game in UCL saw them shock RB Leipzig 3-1. 

While in the league both teams to score has landed just three times, it’s landed 3/4 times – a better gauge of Celtic’s ability. 

They host a Club Brugge side who are 22nd in the UCL but second in the Belgian League on 28 points. Both teams to score has landed in 9/15 Brugge games – the second most in the league. However, Nicky Hayen side have been potent in front of goal, scoring in 18/20 games this season, only blanking against Standard Liege and Borussia Dortmund. 

Blauw-Zwart were unlucky not to score in the 0-3 defeat to Dortmund, accumulating 1.30 xG from 18 shots. They also had 16 shots and 0.95 xG in the their first away game, losing 1-0 to Standard Liege. 

With two sides who have scored in a combined 36/39 games, expect goals at both ends in Glasgow.

AZ Alkmaar vs Galatasaray : Awesome AZ

Netherlands , Europa League , Thursday , November 28 , 17:45 (UK) 

Perhaps the most entertaining game in the Europa League this week comes from the AFAS Stadium, with AZ Alkmaar hosting Galatasaray.

AZ have had a mixed start to their Eredivisie campaign and sit sixth on 20 points. Maarten Martens side have scored 25 goals and conceded 15 in 13 games for an average of just over three goals a game. In their six home hames, there has been 24 goals, with BTTS and over 2.5 goals landing in 5/6 with the exception of a 1-0 win over Nijmegen. 

In the Europa League, they sit 17th, with their games averaging three goals. BTTS and over 2.5 goals has landed in both home games so far. 

Galatasaray sit atop the Super Lig with 11 wins and one draw from their 12 games. They also sit third in the Europa League, with three wins and one draw from four. 

In the league, their games are averaging 3.66 goals, with The Lions scoring 33 and conceding 11. BTTS & o2.5 has landed in 8/12 of their league games, with Okan Buruk’s side scoring in every game. 

The 51-year-old has won plaudits for his attacking philosophy. The game against Tottenham was particularly impressive in this regard, with his side relentless in a 3-2 win. Gala have also won 3-1 and 4-3 in the Europa League, drawing 2-2 away at RFS. All four of their Europa League games have seen BTTS and overs land.

Slavia Prague vs Fenerbahce : Fantastic Fenerbahce 

Czechia, Europa League , Thursday, November 28, 20:00 (UK) 

Only one point separates Slavia Prague and Fenerbahce in the standings, and with the chasing pack hot on their tails, the duo are in danger of dropping outside the playoff places. 

Prague have had a near faultless start to their league campaign, winning 13 and drawing two of their 15 games, scoring 37 goals and conceding just five in the process. In Europe, they have won one, drawn one and lost two of their four games. While both teams to score has only landed in Jindrich Trpisovsky’s sides Europa games, their only home game saw a 1-1 draw with Ajax.

Slavia were unlucky not to score from their 20 shots and 1.13 xG in the 1-0 defeat to Frankfurt, while they were ruing missed chances again in the 1-0 defeat to Bilbao. 

Fenerbahce are the visitors to the Fortuna Arena and Sari Kanaryalar will be looking to win a second game in this years tournament. Jose Mourinho’s side have won one, drawn two and lost one of their four games, scoring five goals and conceding six. 

Their opening game saw them defeat Belgian side USG 2-1, before battling to a 1-1 draw at FC Twente. A 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United followed, before losing 1-3 at Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. All four of their Europa League games have seen both teams score.

In the league, Fener currently sit five points off bitter same-city rivals Galatasaray, despite dropping just seven points in 12 games. They have the exact same goal difference as Gala, scoring 33 and conceding 11. BTTS has landed in 4/7 away games.

Fenerbahce have scored in all 21 games this season, with BTTS landing in 8/8 European games. Slavia Prague have scored in 20/24 this season and have scored in 51 straight home games.
