Switzerland vs Italy: The Italians are Adept at Drawing Fouls

Europe, Euro 2024, Saturday, 29th June, 17:00 (UK)

Switzerland were just moments away from topping Group A but that late goal from Niclas Fullkrug snatched it away. They now face a tricky test in the round of 16 but they will have no fear after almost beating the Germans in their own backyard.

Italy still have the chance to defend their European crown but their performances in the group stages won’t have filled the supporters with hope. The Azzurri needed a 98th-minute goal in their final group game to qualify ahead of Croatia. They picked up a total of four points and looked toothless at times.

Murat Yakin’s team committed 14 fouls in their last match against Germany. They were also caught offside on two occasions so Julian Nagelsmann’s side had 16 free kicks. The hosts have forced three fewer fouls per game on average than Italy.

The Italians were the second most fouled team in the group stages with their opponents averaging 14 per game. Croatia committed 18 fouls when the pressure was cranked up in Italy’s final group game. Luciano Spalletti’s side should force plenty of fouls with the do-or-die nature of the round of 16.

  • Selection: Over 13.5 Free Kicks For Italy (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Germany vs Denmark: Germans Can Tame the Danes

Europe, Euro 2024, Saturday, 29th June, 20:00 (UK)

Germany were excellent in their opening two matches. The tireless Toni Kroos orchestrated Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz to devastating effect. They wobbled in their final match against the Swiss but are still amongst the favourites to win the tournament. Julian Nagelsmann will hope to see his team back to their best here.

Denmark finished behind England in Group C but they performed well against the tournament favourites as they earned a point. Kasper Hjulmand’s side had to come back from being a goal behind in that 1-1 draw. That display against the Three Lions will give them hope of toppling the hosts here.

Nagelsmann’s desire for his team to dominate the ball means the German’s average of 69% possession is the highest in the tournament. This leaves their opponents with very few shooting opportunities. They have conceded an average of 5.33 shots across their three group matches. Our bet for this one has landed in two of those.

The Danes managed 10 shots or more in all three of their group matches but this should be their toughest test so far. England were happy to sit deep and invite shots when they faced Denmark, Germany will not do the same. Hjulmand’s side managed just five shots the last time they faced Die Mannschaft

  • Selection: Under 9.5 Shots For Denmark (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

England vs Slovakia: Southgate Prefers Cautious Approach

Europe, Euro 2024, Sunday, 30th June, 17:00 (UK)

Gareth Southgate remained unfazed as he faced the press following England’s draw with Slovenia. It was the most recent in a string of underwhelming performances but there are no signs that the lofty expectations are affecting the manager. He will hope that his team can silence their critics with a comprehensive win over Slovakia.

All four teams in Group E finished level on four points. Slovakia progressed as one of the best 3rd place teams and their prize is a round of 16 clash with the favourites to go on and lift the trophy. The Slovakians beat Belgium in their opening game of the tournament but were under the cosh in that one. They will need to soak up pressure once again when they face England.

England’s ability to hold onto the ball for long periods means their matches see very few throws. This is compounded by the fact that they seldom seem in a rush to get the ball forward. There have been 29 throws or less in all of their matches at Euro 2024 so far. Their eight matches in qualifying saw 29.25 throws on average so bet365’s line of 33.5 looks high.

Throws have been plentiful in Slovabkia’s matches at the tournament but they are yet to take on a side as accomplished in possession as England.

  • Selection: Under 33.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Spain vs Georgia: Topping the Tackle Tables

Europe, Euro 2024, Sunday, 30th June, 20:00 (UK)

Spain’s disappointing turnout at the World Cup in Qatar meant that very few considered them leading contenders for Euro 2024. However, they are the only team that boasts a 100% record coming into the knockout stage. They looked sharp in their wins over Croatia and Italy. Luis De La Fuente’s fringe players also did the job against Albania.

Georgia beat Spain’s Iberian neighbours in their final group game to earn their place in the last 16. Portugal had already secured 1st place in the group but it was a historic win for the side ranked 74th in the FIFA World Rankings.

The Spanish national team have long been associated with their possession-based approach but this crop of players loves to drive at the opposition. Nico Williams and Lamine Yemal have been menacing in wide areas. As a result, Spain are the most-tackled team in the tournament with their opponents averaging 21 tackles.

Willy Sagnol’s side have been more than willing to attack. They have direct runners that look to trouble the opposition defence and this has led to them forcing plenty of tackles. Georgia are also keen to get stuck in so their matches have seen an average of 40.33 tackles, the most in the competition.

  • Selection: Over 36.5 Tackles In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

France vs Belgium: Les Bleus to Pile on the Pressure

Europe, Euro 2024, Monday, 1st July, 17:00 (UK)

France were the second favourites to win Euro 2024 ahead of the tournament but their performances in the group stages, coupled with the fact they are in the more difficult half of the draw has seen them drop to fourth in the betting. They finished behind Austria in their group and need to raise their performance levels here.

Belgium were on the back foot after losing their opening game of the tournament but they managed to qualify with a total of four points. Domenico Tedesco has tasted just one defeat since taking over the Red Devils so they will threaten France here.

Didier Deschamps recalled Kylian Mbappe for their last game but it wasn’t enough for them to secure the win. France’s struggles to break an opponent down have meant they are forcing an average of 10.33 goal kicks, the third-most in the competition.

Belgium have had 10 corners or more in two of their three group games. The exception was the defeat against Slovakia, in which they fell behind early on.

  • Selection: Over 8.5 Goal Kicks For Belgium (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Portugal vs Slovenia: Underdogs Under the Cosh

Europe, Euro 2024, Monday, 1st July, 20:00 (UK)

Portugal played well in their opening two matches. Their possession-hungry style and ability to press high up the pitch made them difficult to play against. They came unstuck in their final group game with Roberto Martinez opting to make eight changes to his starting eleven. Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. need to get back to their best here.

Slovenia beat Portugal earlier in the year but accomplishing that feat in a competitive fixture should prove to be a tougher test. They managed to draw their final group game against England so they will have no fear here.

Roberto Martinez’s side have won 8.33 corners per game on average since the start of the groups. Their opponents have had an average of 3.33 corners so the handicap appeals here. The bet has won in two of their three group matches. Portugal had 10 more corners than Georgia in their last match.

The Slovenians lost the corner count 6-0 when they took on England in their last fixture. In fact, they have had at least four corners fewer than their opponents in their three matches at Euro 2024 so far.

  • Selection: Portugal -3.5 Asian Corner Handicap (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10
