Germany vs Hungary: Die Mannschaft in Kroos Control
Europe, Euro 2024, Wednesday, 19th June, 17:00 (UK)
Germany were in fine fettle as they thumped Scotland in their first game. Julian Nagelsmann will want to build on that dominant display and make it six points from a possible six here. The likes of Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz and Toni Kroos are set to star once again for the possession-hungry Germans.
Hungary’s second-half rally wasn’t enough to salvage something from their opening game against Switzerland. they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat and are up against it with one of the tournament favourites awaiting them here.
The Germans oozed class against the Scots. Their command of possession and ability to shift the ball around meant we saw very few throws. Nagelsmann’s side should be able to keep their opponents at arm’s length once again. The former Bayern Munich boss has been in charge of Germany for nine games. Those have seen an average of just 30.29 throws.
The Hungarian’s first game against Switzerland saw 44 throws but this encounter with the hosts shouldn’t be as end-to-end. Their warm-up matches against Israel and the Republic of Ireland saw 24 and 30 throws respectively.
- Selection: Under 34.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.83
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Denmark vs England: Three Lions to Bare Their Teeth
Europe, Euro 2024, Thursday, 20th June, 17:00 (UK)
Denmark were unable to hold on to the lead against Slovenia but the point they earned could prove valuable. They have avoided defeat in their last three matches against England. A positive result here would put them in good stead heading into the final game against Serbia.
There is a lot of hype surrounding England at this tournament and rightly so. Their squad features some of the most talented attackers in world football but they failed to deliver the performance expected of them as they beat Serbia 1-0. The Three Lions managed just five shots in the match. However, Gareth Southgate will be happy with the winning start.
There were 27 shots in Denmark’s clash with Slovenia. They struggled to keep the underdogs at bay so keeping England quiet will be a difficult task.
For all of England’s attacking talent, shots were scarce in their win over Serbia. There were just 11 attempts in the match but backing overs looks like the way to go here. Gareth Southgate will want to see more attacking intent. England’s matches in 2024 prior to the clash with Serbia had seen an average of 25.75. This drops to 22.8 if we include that game.
- Selection: Over 20.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.72
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Spain vs Italy: Heavyweights Set for Slugfest
Europe, Euro 2024, Thursday, 20th June, 20:00 (UK)
This game should go a long way towards deciding who will top what was dubbed the group of death ahead of the tournament. Spain had a tricky assignment on matchday one but passed the test with flying colours. Luis De La Fuentes’ team beat Croatia 3-0 and will be full of confidence coming into this one.
Italy are the reigning European Champions after beating England on penalties in the final in 2021. Despite the recent success, it’s been a turbulent period for Italian football. They failed to qualify for the last World Cup and Roberto Mancini’s departure meant a change of manager was needed.
Spain’s qualifying matches saw an average of 19.5 fouls but there are usually plenty of free-kicks when they go toe-to-toe with Italy. They met in the last European Championships and there were 32 free-kicks awarded in the 90 minutes of regulation time. Spain’s first match of this tournament saw 29 free-kicks.
The Italian’s last 10 matches have seen an average of 24.9 fouls and 2.7 offsides. They have clashed with Spain on two occasions since the last European Championships. Those encounters have seen 35 and 37 free kicks awarded.
- Selection: Over 25.5 Free Kicks In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.72
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 9/10
Slovakia vs Ukraine: Plenty of Attempts in Crucial Clash
Europe, Euro 2024, Thursday, 20th June, 17:00 (UK)
Slovakia could put themselves in the ascendency in Group E with a win here. They rode their luck at times against Belgium but the 1-0 victory over the favourites to win the group has put them in a strong position.
Ukraine were tipped to do well by many but the 3-0 loss against Romania in their last match was a real eye-opener. They enjoyed 71% possession but they struggled to create quality chances. They finished the game with an xG of just 0.75. This clash with Slovakia is now a must-win.
The Slovakian’s win over Belgium saw them muster up ten of the 25 attempts in the match. Slovakia averaged 13.4 shots per game in qualifying and should make a healthy contribution to the overall count here.
Serghiy Rebrov’s side’s last ten matches have seen 27.5 shots on average. There were 24 shots in their opening match against Romania. Ukraine were able to contribute with 14 of those but they will be keen to pose a greater threat this time around as they risk elimination.
- Selection: Over 23.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10
Poland vs Austria: Rangnick’s Side to Rack Up the Corners
Europe, Euro 2024, Friday, 21st June, 17:00 (UK)
Poland took the lead in their first game against the Netherlands but were unable to hold on. A late goal from Wout Weghorst was enough to clinch all three points. It was Poland’s first loss in the Michal Probierz era but another here would see them struggling to make it to the knockout stages.
Austria looked dangerous against France. A moment of inspiration from Kylian Mbappe was enough to force an own goal. Ralf Rangnick’s high-octane approach didn’t give the French players a moment’s rest. They will be hoping that approach pays dividends in the way of points here.
The Poles conceded six corners in their clash with the Netherlands. Their warm-up matches against Turkey and Ukraine saw them concede eight and nine corners so the Austria line set by the bookmaker looks good here.
Under Rangnick, Austria are averaging 4.43 corners per game across their 23 matches. They racked up six corners in their clash with France despite being the underdogs. The Austrians should have a fair few here with anything less than win putting their future in Euro 2024 in jeopardy.
- Selection: Over 4.5 Corners For Austria (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.72
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
Netherlands vs France: French to Stop the Dutchmen from Flying
Europe, Euro 2024, Friday, 21st June, 20:00 (UK)
This was highlighted as one of the matches of the group stages when the draw was made so let’s hope it delivers. The Netherlands lost both of their matches against France in 2023 and they could be at the mercy of Kylian Mbappe once again. Ronald Koeman will be happy with the way his team responded after going 1-0 behind against Poland. His team will need to show great character to overcome France.
Didier Deschamps’ has already led the French team to World Cup success but he will want to add the European Championships to his CV. His side deserved their win against Austria but they were made to fight. France will be expecting another tough game when they take to the field on Friday night.
The Netherlands are accustomed to being on the front foot but that won’t be the case against France. They conceded 11 shots in their opening game against Poland although they were chasing the game from the 16th minute. The Dutch allowed France to have 15 attempts when the sides met back in October.
Euro 2024 Props Acca Tips Odds via bet365 as at 09:45, June 19th, 2024, Odds may now differ.
